Thanks to all who supported my thread!

http://www.igorstshirts.com/temp/copbot3.jpgI am better at sketching with vectors...

I'm gussing a servant is not mistreated like a slave so I figure it to be a droid... Perhaps driving a human somewhere.

03-23-2005, 08:40 PM
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/6153/6153_1111610400_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/6153/6153_1111610400_large.jpg)

I'm not much of a painter... More draftsman style, I guess. Since concept will be judged over execution, I might do a "boring" side view. A droid driving it's master in an enclosed futuristic motorcycle, during a rainstorm, while she(the master) sleeps.

03-23-2005, 08:42 PM
no replies?? this looks like an excellent concept, theres no rule that u have to paint, maybe urs will stand out more cos its not, which is a good thing!!!

gud luck!!

03-23-2005, 09:02 PM
Thanks noob!

I'll try to have the back wheel done by later today.

03-24-2005, 05:51 AM

I color at the same time as I draw, so... I'm not sure what milestone to put these in. Coloring as I go helps me find and define form which dictates my line art. I use default colors at first to work quick. Changing them later to fit within My color scheme should be a snap as all my overlayed transparencies are tinted with black. Thanks!

03-24-2005, 07:18 AM
Awesome, awesome work Ig. I'll be honest, its looking at how far you have come with your work that keeps me motivated more than anything. Cant wait to see this finished. Stay up playa!

03-24-2005, 10:42 AM
Looks great and indeed the vector style looks great,it's differenent and so innovating.i was thinking myself to do some vector also maybe, don't know yet.because I think it's really amusing to create formes just like they come to ya head directly.
Anyway,I'm really curious of the final result and wish you all the luck and fun in this contest!!!

The front is flowin' for me... I'll come back to the servant later. Thanks!

Excellent design; I don't think I've seen vector artwork before in the Challenges (there's gotta be a first sometime, right? :D ). I can already till this is going to be an interesting entry.

03-26-2005, 09:39 PM

This is sorta the idea... This needs to be drafted up at three-quarter view now... I think. I'm not sure I'm up for that one... I'll have to think about it for a minute.

03-28-2005, 07:43 AM
OOOOOh and thanks again you guys! I'm deep in thought about this one, I'll go sheck out your threads now.

Since there is good time left... I guess I will do this as a three quarter view.

03-29-2005, 07:50 AM
the last 2 updates are sick! however,i don't think website tags are allowed.

03-29-2005, 11:52 PM

I don't think any of My images are being hosted anywhere else... Am I missing something?

03-30-2005, 12:01 AM
Nice work dude. I love the vehicle design. Very nice technical approach to it. Good use of a vector base program. I am impress!!!

looks excellent!

04-15-2005, 10:11 AM
just thought i'd voice my opinion too. my compliments. this is really nice!

what program/application are you using to achieve this look?

04-15-2005, 04:02 PM
looks great, u achieved that poster-like feel...one thing, that wndshield @ the rear of the mech. driver looks odd to me, i mean personally, but its just my thought... also, the girl looks too realistic, dont be offended, but is that a picture?... overall, its looking great!

04-15-2005, 07:25 PM
Hey... Thanks you guys... No worries, please voice your opinions, I'm a big boy and I can take 'em! This is far from done you guys. My final goal is to make this more realistic and less illustrationy... Too 80's looking atm. The woman is a just a place holder so you guys can see where I'm going with this. The droid as well as the bike still need more work. The final will be done in Aftereffects to create a more stylized, realistic, atmosphere.Cheers!

magikkman... I am using CorelDraw12. Later!

Thanks NOOB! A little more work done on the woman.

04-20-2005, 06:52 AM
I totally want a robot to drive me to work so I can sleep like that. I think I'm seeing your concept a bit more clearly. The technique is excellent. I can't wait to see what comes next. I kind of like the 80's style rendering.

04-20-2005, 07:04 AM
Thanks Jami... I want a robot that drives me to work too. :)

Thanks Robert! Not sure if this is working or not... The face will need more ambient light I think.

04-26-2005, 10:48 PM
This is looking amazing, nice reflections...you have a really unique clean style. good luck and keep posting!

Those are lights on the droid's ass. Not jets. Seeing alot of backpacks in some of you guys' entries gave me the idea to try and put one on my servant to try to make it more servanty... Word?
Anyway... It still needs more work on the pack, hand, shoe/foot, shoulder and upper arm. This pic is getting detailed. I don't think it will yield well under monitor res'. Later!

04-27-2005, 06:16 AM
Oh, and... Thanks Iris! Glad you like my thread!

looks great & unique!!!:bounce: :bounce:

04-29-2005, 08:41 PM
Right on you guys... Thank you. I know that a technical illustration like this gets downplayed alot so I don't expect much as far as the challenge goes. This was a BLAST to make though... And my confidence in tech illy has boosted tons. Thanks again!

04-30-2005, 04:27 AM
Thats NEAT!, unique style man, love it!

05-04-2005, 07:51 AM
Hi Igor. Man, what are you talking about. I think you will win something (if not first place). Remember, they are looking for ideas way out there. And my friend, to me (maybe cause I am a vehicle fanatic as well-see my post if you have the time and you will see what I mean-), this is a way out there idea. Different, fresh, unique. And the style your using, um, I see nothing wrong with it. Actually, kudos to you my friend for doing such an outstanding job with this technical illustration. This type of art can EASLY make it into any type of art book. Ok, got to get to bed. Best to you buddy (fellow vehicle lover-smile). Oh man, what am I doing. Love the bike and robot. Very cool looking-smile. Also, no suggestions, your in own world here.

Thanks Marcheen!
Might not make it... in.... time.

05-12-2005, 06:47 AM
interesting style. this one has a lot of potential for action and movement, but rightnow, i cant tell if its really moving. maybe offsetting the bike would do the trick? or maybe some perspective so that its either coming into the foreground or into the background...? also, the girl inside the bike is hard to read... might want to clarify her placement. otherwise, i think the bikes design is prety cool. the colors are fitting and the flowers are GERAT. haha, onward ho!

05-12-2005, 07:00 AM
Yeah... I agree. I'm better at the design elements anyway. Once I figure out my shapes, I sort of lose interest in environment placement and such. I can't change the perspective as it's too late but maybe I can add some foreground and background elements to show motion. Getting nice motion blur on the wheels is proving to be a challenge also.

I will brighten the girl up for more contrast. Thanks.

05-12-2005, 07:09 AM
I think you should just add a hint of the background. Foreground, you don't need it. I like the way you are showcasing the characters. Very straight on. Man, i bow to you, because you just gave vector base program a good name, if not, a better showcase of what you can do with it. Oh and definately the design looks SICK     :buttrock:

Almost there...

05-15-2005, 04:39 PM
THe background definately works dude. MOre for the eyes to see. Very nicely done

05-16-2005, 12:21 AM
Its coming together nicely!!

Your Vector skills are top notch!!

Thanks! I do think that the background is a little busy and competes with the bike and characters atm. However, The last few elements should seperate it nicely and add a little motion as well as depth... Next stop... The finish line.

PS... Akira was a huge influence on me as a kid and this is sort of my homage to Otomo for inspiring me. Later!

05-16-2005, 03:28 AM
LOoks great dude. Okay, just a suggestion for the background, duplicate your background layer and do a motion blur filter, then adjust the opacity of that layer. You'll see, it should push it back and show less details and just give hints of lines. Then have another layer to make it a bit hazy.

I hope this helps a bit dude.

cheers:thumbsup:

05-16-2005, 03:34 AM
Yo Arc,
I agree with you on the hazy layer... That's gonna happen for sure. I can't do the motion blur layer as the background objects are too far to blur. (And, I've already tried it).:)

Aaaaalmost there. A few more highlights on the bike, fix homie's shield and brighten up the woman inside. Should do her. Next sub will be my final. Thanks!

05-17-2005, 01:07 AM
Yo, very nice work on the background and the foreground element... TIIIGHT. Good call on that bro. I don't know what else you need to put, but just hurry up. Can't wait to see the final image home's.    :bounce:

cheers and goodluck

05-17-2005, 09:08 PM
cmon man,this looks excellent!

05-17-2005, 09:12 PM
to me looks like you're done... love it dude, now all u need is finish it. Great job!!

05-17-2005, 09:13 PM
wow, this changed a lot since i last saw it. i can almost feel the speed at which hes riding that thing... nice job man!

05-17-2005, 09:14 PM
great work! this is all looking good. now hurry up man!

05-17-2005, 10:04 PM
I'm glad you all like it... I'm going to brighten up the girl inside the bike since this is most about her and the droid relationship. I'm also going to try and add some raindrops to the ground, see if I can pull that off.

I'm still not as happy with showing the speed as I'd like. Not sure what's missing. I think another vehicle in the opposite lane, moving the opposite direction would set this pic off, but... Must.... Abandon..... Pic....

Thanks again for the few of you who have supported my thread. Later!

05-18-2005, 12:20 AM
OMG! this is awesome, a vector? wow!! a very unique entry. The style of render, the used of gradient, blur, transparency all this is great. nice technique. I like ur work man, ur my 1st choice.

05-18-2005, 12:23 AM
Thanks for noticing the techniques digitalhadz! Stay tuned for my final.

05-18-2005, 02:07 AM
Nice work mate, I'm a t shirt artist as well, I find myself working in vector more often than not.

05-18-2005, 02:51 AM
Thanks SteveV,
It is crazy, that I've learned vector illustration from doing silkscreen designs... Funny that you picked up on that. Later!

I just looked at the illustration work on your site... NICE!

05-18-2005, 07:03 AM
hey! this is very nice , original piece. like the master and servant theme you got there .

The way you paint looks very advanced, vector gfx?

anyway your piece looks very nice, if I would add a coment it would be that your background looks a bit to much photo realistic together with the bike. maybe your could tone down the background a bit?
well otherwise itīs good stuff man .

good luck in the challenge.

05-18-2005, 10:49 PM
realy good work!

the colors n' the scenary looks great!

hurry! finish it!

Very cool vision of the future. Excellent representation of the characters. She is delicate and sleeping peacefully while the robot is portrayed as considerate for the care of his human companion. Great Idea!

Good luck to you

I mean, excellent interpretation of the whole M+S thing, but you just went for the funky bot and bike design, admit it! :D

Great, tight stuff!

Thanks you guys... Yeah, had to do the funky robot/bike design piece!

Man, thanks for noticing those subtle details. You've just vindicated my painting. Thanks!
