I like the idea of minotaur being the servant but I'm not sure about the guy. I think maybe a little girl or boy to really show the difference between the two. Great sketch though.

There are already a few people doing little kids being the master of one or more bigger creatures.

-I kind of like the idea of maybe a guy riding the minotaur like a cowboy or something.

-Having a dude up on the minotaur head holding on to his horns or something would be cool.

-Or you could look back to the minotaur in the maze deal. Like the guy completed maze the beat the minotaur and now its showing him the way out or something.

Just a few off the top of my head.

Also your character designs are really cool. I look forward to you finishing this.

Good Luck.

Hey thanks for the ideas! I'll definately take that in to consideration! I also agree that the 'little child' thing has been done too much, that's why I wanted to stray away from it a bit. Thanks again guys!

looking foward to ur next idea!

Nice sketches,
The way that they look right now, and the position of them give off the feeling of equality. They look like a team, without a master or a servant. I do although, understand that this it just a preliminary sketch, and that this is only the beggining. But that whole partnership idea might work . . .

Hello again.
I just drew up this picture while waiting for my professor to start class. I was starting to explore a possible angle for the image, kind of semi low angle...if anyone has ANY suggestions, please feel free!

Here's my original concept for my servant...

ur latest concept is way better,u have got a nice angle in that one!

I just threw on some quick colors, just to get an idea for what kind of environment I want to put them in. I think snow might be the way to go...please, give any suggestions!

Hi, I agree with Noob, the original concept looks way better. The minotaur has much more definition. Plus the pose of the guy suggest much more dominance in that scketch. Quick quetion: do minotaurs have tails like that? It's not like I imagined them, but I may be wrong.

PS: love the Southpark avatar :)

GaeasHerald - minotaurs aren't real so I'm sure they could have tails like that. ;)

Louiville - sorry your thread. I like the sketch you did in post #9. Why aren't you going with that one? It could use some better cropping only because their is a lot of negative space surrounding the figures. If you stick with the current coloured sketch I think you should crop it as well. There is too much emptiness surrounding the figures. Also I think you try going a lot darker with your shadows. And finally the light sources aren't matching up. Light is coming from the left but the sun is behind them. Tight lines so far though.

Thanks a lot guys. I think I am going to stick with the original drawing...cropped in a more interesting way of course. Just needa brain storm a background and flesh out my characters. I'll have an update up soon. Thanks again!

I think this might be the actual direction that I go with. I thought having the 'Minotaur' and his master resting after a huge battle would be good. And that the Minotaur, after all his work, must hold up the master while he reaps the benifits...Might be time to start on some line work.

Like this tail better. The image has much more dynamism this way. More updates!!!:)

But to me it's a little hard to tell who's the real master of the piece. In the sketch where the man is being held, he seems to be the master because of the smoking gun, but it seems he is in rather a precarious position to be in control. Also, I am reading the creature's stance as boredom. If the master IS ruling by the gun (by force), the only way the creature would be held under control would be through abject fear. Nice concept, but I would think a little deeper into the emotions conveyed.

I totally understand that. What I was going for, was that they just got done fighting off this entire battle, and the Minotaur (which most likely did all the work) is sitting and forced to hold up his 'master' as he reaps the benifits and wins the woman. (Though I'm sure the Minotaur doesn't care about the woman...might wanna eat her if anything). And so I wanted him to have the look of "You gotta be shittin' me..." Anyways, I will definately to your words to heart and try to portray the emotions a bit more! Thanks a lot!

c'mon buddy, get crakin.

Since the Minotar is a figure from greek legend how about making his master either an completly fantastical creature or perhaps a creature from the legend.
