Here is the idea.
A boy, the master, has chained up a fairy, the slave. The image will be as follows the fairy will be trying to fly off but the chains hurting her little body pull her back. In the background is the boy happy with a big smile looking at the beauty of his new toy.

03 March 2005, 06:16 PM
So many talented people are in this challenge that is almost ludicrous for me to be here since I am just a beginner at ps and wacom and all this. :(

03 March 2005, 03:41 PM (

the boy would be the master and the fairy would be the servant. Here I am just trying to focus on is that while the fairy is terror trying to scape the boy has her chined up and he is in absolute happiness.

the background I haven't given it much thought. Might set them up in the boys room and she is almost out the window.

03 March 2005, 03:44 PM (

Pretty much same sketch. Only difference is the background. this is the outdoor background.

Still don't know which one to choose and work on. Either the indoor or outdoor. I guess as the detail of the characters is defined I'll be able to chose.

03 March 2005, 10:43 PM (

I am so ready to start putting some life into this sketch. And color will do that.

The boy... don't know have to still work on his face. I love both poses. still don't want to think about the background.

03 March 2005, 11:12 PM
I think this has a great deal of potential. When I saw this I immediately thought of the kid in Toy Story who destroyed the toys with firecrackers, etc. Some things to think about the boy. You have him smiling. Does he have other faries in bottles in his room? Are some of those dead? Does he collect them like butterflies?

Pose some friends to get the anatomy correct. Youv'e got a good idea here.

03 March 2005, 03:37 AM
 thank you! I will do that.

03 March 2005, 06:42 PM (

:( I've been working with the pose and the proportions... I just don't have enough experiense :(

this is what I have thus far.

03 March 2005, 06:46 PM
its a good concept, don't worry THIS is ur experience,we're all here to help the only MAJOR problem is that she seems to have a flat body *breast and stomach area.*

03 March 2005, 07:11 PM (

Don't know if you can tell. But I tried to make her chest and belly look less flat. also I made the legs bigger. *sigh
I wanted to work on color today :( I have no more time today.

03 March 2005, 07:18 PM
-NOOB thank you for your message.

I am pretty much learning as I go. thank u

I still need to work on the background :scream: I am going to add alot more stuff that is if I have more time. the way I am going I might not. :(

03 March 2005, 09:51 PM
Very cool idea. I think your last sketch is the more dominant one. It's almost as if he is JUST starting to pull her back...making her realize the harshness of the situation.

04 April 2005, 04:36 PM (

Haven't had time to work on it. But at least I got a little update.

04 April 2005, 05:20 PM

Today I added a lot more color; however I haven't done anything for the background. That I'll do later tomorrow.
I do agree is a good idea the problem is whether I'll be able to deliver it.

04 April 2005, 08:30 PM (

Color time. so happpy. I must start working on the expresions of both the boy and the fairy. She has to look sad and scared at the same time and he has to look hungry(as in greedy) and happy for she can not fly away.
still alot of work to be done. I'll be happy if I get to finish in time.

04 April 2005, 10:28 PM
So many talented people are in this challenge that is almost ludicrous for me to be here since I am just a beginner at ps and wacom and all this. :(

hah! just what ive been thinking (only my wacom is still hasnt been delivered). i had to come to terms with the overwhelming number of good artists on this comp. just look at enayla. just use it as a chance to practice your developing skills and following the progress of other people is very good for your understanding. this is the 16th cg challenge comp and i cant see it being the last.
gl and enjoy your painting (which has promise btw)

GhostInTheMachine thank you, you're too kind... and sweet. It seems to me that perhaps I'll see you on other challenges. :) and believe me I don't even show my drawings to my friends and here I am posting this...which I am not very proud of. I am even thinking of starting again and changin her pose maybe her dress... so frustraiting. But I'll use it as practice like you said and look at the way other people work hopefull I'll find a way to represent what I see in my head.

Voy a intentar divertirme :)

04 April 2005, 06:44 PM (

I am not sure but Perhaps I'll keep this new colors.

she is part of the background.

04 April 2005, 06:47 PM
Hi Carolina,

Cool sketches. I like the idea. That boy is just mean. How dare he does that to a fairy... hehe. I like your new colour. It very settle and simple, but very effective and the simplicity of it is a good contrast to what happens to her. Keep it up.

04 April 2005, 11:16 PM
like the new image. i prefer slightly emotive images and this one looks good. maybe you could experiment with how your fairy got trapped or how she dies. how about locking her inside an upturned glass? i dunno, im sure you'll have better ideas.
she's like a trapped butterfly - very pretty, very tradgic.
good image :)

04 April 2005, 03:41 PM
hola alegra haber servido de algo, y buena suerte:bounce:

04 April 2005, 04:45 PM
 I've had no time.
I feel really bad not being able to work on it. is been a couple of days now and my job is sucking all my time.

I am sure I'll have time later. Is just that I didn't want to lose the momentum

thank you for the support I hope to update soon.

04 April 2005, 06:21 PM (

started using the new colors.

04 April 2005, 03:20 PM (

I changed the angle b/c it was getting to difficult for me to do. :(

I do like the new colors.

04 April 2005, 06:40 PM (

this is part of the background.

04 April 2005, 04:19 PM (

Still working on the background.

I am thinking in placing a fairy outside looking in through the window.
also part of the background I want maybe to add a shelf with jars with more fairies
then I want to draw the boy more evil.

I like the new direction the drawing has taken :)

04 April 2005, 03:35 PM (

added the shelf. now I just have to fill it up ^_^

04 April 2005, 03:38 PM
I want to leave the boy for the end. I want to really create him accourding to whats going on.

I was thinking in having the fairy that is trying to fly off hold on to a chandlier... then it would be more of a struggle with the boy. dunno

04 April 2005, 02:13 PM
i liked the fairy in post 26. you should put a link to this thread in ur signiture, you'd get more responses... gl :)

04 April 2005, 04:24 PM
This is becoming a very dark childrens book piece...AWESOME. I really think your colour pallete is working. Your piece has this surrealistic/minimalism kinda feeling to it. The fairies are coming along nicely too. Keep it up.

04 April 2005, 04:31 PM
Hey me gustan las nuevas imagenes ...dan mas idea de tu concepto...Sigue asi:thumbsup:

04 April 2005, 02:41 AM
:) thank you!

this is all a result of your comments and good advice. Many times I was so ready to give up but well all of you GhostInTheMachine, Arc80, and melkao have said things to me that have given me courage to keep going.
