Hey how're doing. Ok, the company I work for is looking to buy software for digital video. I recommended After Effects and Premeire, but we're Mac based and even though it doesn't make a difference. They're looking in to Final Cut Pro, Combustion, as well as other software. Does anyone have any recommendations, and what's the difference between AE/Premiere, Combustion and FCP. Does anyone know of any comparision articles too. Thanks in advance.

Well it sounds like you're confused as to what you're looking for. You mentioned two very different types of applications in your lists of ones you're looking at. Answering these questions will give everyone more of an idea of what you're looking for and would allow everyone to give you suggestions.

Are you looking for a Non Linear Editor (NLE) which is used to edit digital video and audio clips together and providing simple effects such as x-fades and such? Or are you looking for a compositing program which allows you to combine many layers of images/video together and apply effects to these clips? Also what resolution are you planning on working you need the ability to work in realtime.
