Hello everyone,

Its my first time i participate to a challenge, on a forum, since i began to do 3D. I'll try to do my best and enhance my skill will the challenge. I hope u will help me to do that and give me a lot of comment.

Ok the concept :

It is the machine of a little, but intelligent nerds (a young boy, we will call him Max). Max use his robot to do whatever he want. smalls and bigs job. I don't know which action he will do yet, but it ll come :).

03 March 2005, 10:03 PM (

Ok! here my second character. He is called Max. Super inventor, he build Igor to do all the tasks that he can't do.

I'll try to post a sketch of the action that they will do in the scene! I'll think about that.

03 March 2005, 04:27 PM
Someone can help me to find a place where i can store my pict, I want to post some wip images and i haven't find a place yet.

03 March 2005, 04:58 PM
I have started doing 3D today :bounce:

I hope! I'll be able to give a result similar to my drawing...
Ok here the body of Igor. Im not satisfied of the head and I'll have to retouch it later. For the moment I'll try to do a rough of all the body and add detail later. I don't know if it's a good way to proceed. but i'll try. I have nothing to loose !

03 March 2005, 05:00 PM
I think angelfire.lycos maybe not the best site wher i can store my images. Someone know a better place or a better way to put image on the forum??

Hey there...
dude your sketches are quiet cool. I've always been a fan of little masters and giant servants. Great going on your model so far. No crits yet looking great. Good luck Ill be watching

03 March 2005, 09:44 PM
Hey, I like your sketches, especially the one of Max. I love how that coat is way too big for him:D For image hosting, you could use this: but I think for the challenge, we are suppose to upload all the images to cgtalk, so the links arent broken later, when someone wants to look at it a while from now.

03 March 2005, 05:12 PM (

Hey all
Thx for ur nice comment that give me a lot of courage to continu :)
I block on the back yesterday and now im stuck to my bed. BIG HACKBACK!!! I'll try to continue tomorrow but im not sure i'll be able.

03 March 2005, 07:51 PM
I love the look of the robot - kinda frankenstein's monster. :buttrock:
I'd like to see what kinda of scene or composition you're thinking of...

03 March 2005, 07:54 PM
awesome model and sketches .... you got man carry on

03 March 2005, 02:16 AM
Hi dominikmk!
I see you're moving along fast. Your characters are really awesome, especially I like contrast between them - classic but still cool looking!
Igor looks impressive. By the way, don't you know why name Igor is so popular for assistants of evil genius or frankenstien-like characters? I've noticed it recently:)

03 March 2005, 02:59 AM
nice job on that model.. I wish you the best of luck

03 March 2005, 03:09 AM
Really like your servant character. It's great that you didn't overload him with too many nuts, bolts, wires, etc. Clean, effective character. Great design!

Ullo-- looking sweet so and you are definately off to a good start. Texturing -- you'd be best off to unwrap, -- plenty of tutes out and textures available on net----- (of course)
I'm doing my first entry too. -- nothing up at mo -- eeekk -- keep it up

03 March 2005, 01:20 PM
Thx u all :bounce:

Welcome here Deryk ! u will see its a beautiful place. Ukraine dude u come here for work ? in 3D ?
I have begun(ish for the verbe tense?? sorry) the texture and i have unwrap only the chest for the moment. I'll not unwrap all i think.

One of my friend give my an idea. This big robot will do the dishes for my little max. A montain of plates, one in the hand and in the other and the "lavette" (object using to clean the dishes)!

I have made 2 sketch before but i don't know if i'll post them. ?? there are so ugly :p

03 March 2005, 01:39 PM
wow...i look forward to seeig this textured and lit up.

03 March 2005, 02:18 PM (

I have finally begin this part that i don't like a lot! But i have to practice.

03 March 2005, 02:18 PM
those are some damn good moddelng skills man cant wait to see it textued:thumbsup:

03 March 2005, 03:05 PM
I'm a part time texture artist and those textures look good to me (and I don't like doing textures either, Its just something I do to punish myself (and it gives perspective in life) :)

In some weird way I love the unwrapping part (Zbrushs gonna take that "fetish" away from me :'( snif.)

If you don't mind I have some finetune "improvements" for you. Try to pick up a color palette that represent a mood you want your character have texturewise. for example the head looks cooler than ice (reminds me somewhat of USA marine desert gear), but I would use that same color somewhere else too (like f.ex. torso) Otherwise I have just one word: Flawless!! :)

03 March 2005, 05:07 PM
Bien sympa ton ptit robot ! La suite vite !

Cool mecha ! what's next ?

04 April 2005, 03:58 AM
I'm really digging the simple colors and design. Cool concept too (doing the dishes...). I can definitely relate. :)

04 April 2005, 04:25 AM
Way cool so far. Watch out though theirs alot of kids with robots going around so make sure yours stands out. Nice work so far. Looking forward to seeing more.

04 April 2005, 02:38 PM
Oh, Igor becomes really the one with whom I won't like to have eny conflicts:)
Actually my immagination was drawing rusty rextures, when firstly I saw it untextured, but this version comes vraiment cool! Especial white colors of the head (with black seams and dirt it gives scary looking!).
Impressive CGing

04 April 2005, 01:44 AM
