Matt Marshall has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Moved his left hand around and added actual eyes rather than using the main mesh...This way I can move the eyes around as needed to suit the final facial emotion...or lack of it in the case of the concept :)

Tweaked a few other small things too.

I definitely dig the concept. My TV is always barking orders at me, such as: "Don't touch that dial," "Stay tuned after these messages," and "Call to order now!" That last one gets me every single time.

I think using a Blue-ish tint would be perfect, especially if you do not portray the actual TV set in the scene at all. Everyone will instantly recognize what it is.

I don't know if I'm submitting you submit ALL your modelling images to the upload thing and call them modelling milestones for example? Or do you only submit ONE modeling mileston, once you get to the finished model...

I'm pretty happy with 'slug' so far...I still need to tweak him alot, and I'm definitelly not looking forward to mapping him...especially seeing as I'll probably only do it to make a bump and specular map...but anyway.

THis will proabably be one of the first projects where I really spend my time on refining and detail. As ALL the focus is on this one static character.

Also, does anyone know if you could make the final submission animation...or a really big animated gif?! :) I only need about 5 frames worth (to emulate the TV flickering) would really enhance the effect I think.

This is getting a bit closer to the end result. He has no arms and no actual detail really, but he's certainly fleshing out well enough.

Personally, I'm really happy with how this is coming along. I generally do Low ploy material, so this is definitelly a new experience for me :)

nice character but i'm missing emotions in the scene. he looks like he is sleeping deeply. i think somthing should heppen. i understand the concept but i think the query dosn't show in the scene. i might be wrong of course, need other opinions.

keep it up. it's a nice charcter, remind me Buddha :)

Yeah, as it is I can understand where you are coming from...once I finish the base model etc I plan to really get in and refine...but the eye as you see it will be whiter, and the pupil will be hardly seen under the eyelid and dilated...close to zombie like in appearance.

I'll have to spend a LOT of time to get this idea across, but I think I can do it if I play with the face enough. This is where the main challenge will lie.

I'll probably add drool coming from one side of his mouth too. :)

Here is some further updates to the model...mainly in regards to clothes.

It's a basic start, as I have to add creases and folds yet to the shirt...but it's a good base.

I like the Y-Fronts too, although I think I need to make them more obvious. ANd I'll probably texture food stains on them, and the shirt, in the end too.

The lighting setup is a basic idea of the end result, however seeing as I'm still focusing on actual modelling, I'll keep it as the modelling milestone... I have a lot of light variation ideas in mind anyway, so there will be more than enough to put there.

I've started playing around with different camera positions (subtle changes) and base textures. As well as moving the right hand around...

I came up with the idea of having the remote actually fallen from his hand, even though he seems to have his hand in a casual holding stance...

The little red light (Probably the ONLY colour in the whole piece) on the remote sort of draws attention to the significance of it, but because of where it is throws it into perspective that its master element (turn OFF the damn thing will you!!) is basically a lie.
