WOHOOO!!! ME DONE!!! I wud luv to have spent more friggin time on this,I cudda refined things a lil more,it looks a lil soft now but BAH! I’m proud of it.

I lightened the doggy.and did sum other tweakage.

All thanks to u guys for sticking by,GROUP HUG!!! (hey who touched my ass)

Hope guys like,

best of luck to the rest of ya.

Now for the description. (thanks arc for the name)

The faceless….dull creatures they are….they show no emotion...they can’t, their species where created to work, who would have known they would have become smart, they want to take out their pain on all humans, mainly because of their jealousy towards us, they can’t show emotion, but we can…….therefore they should serve the faceless, for the faceless feel they are handicapped.

They force us to smile at any costs, but it is not their intention to punish us in any way, they just want everybody to be happy, what they don’t understand is, it doesn’t quite work that way, just because a human being smiles does not make them a happy person. the faceless believe if they are smiling, the person is happy to serve them at any occasion

What’s this though? Why is this girl running away, why is she not smiling? the faceless are confused, why…

they want to talk to her, she will not escape, set out the pets to capture them.

the chaos massacre begins

great story eh?

Why are their only women slaves in this piece?

Faceless found men much less attractive, and cause destruction, therefore they where banished from the planet, as reproduction control, a few where kept.

What’s with em having no nipples?

Again. part of the reproduction process, it must be balanced, no extra milk for no one.

Wtf? That girl is gold?

Yep,why? I dunno,ask her hehehe…

03-22-2005, 10:29 AM
Didn't manage to complete the last one

03-22-2005, 11:23 AM (

this is just my first rough idea of a character

03-22-2005, 11:51 AM (

i want to have more than one of these guys, face less, very tall, have huge gaurd dogs, why they wud need em is beknown to me.

just a quick sketch

03-22-2005, 12:27 PM
Hi nubian, (cool name by the way )

good luck to you.
good start.

03-22-2005, 12:48 PM
thanks fahrija.:)

03-22-2005, 01:12 PM
Story overview

this is based around destruction of earth, many humans have already escaped so they can survive on other planets, however,a few where captured by *the faceless* and used as servants.

The faceless are angered by lack on enthusiasm (sp?) they don't like to see dull faces, therefore the servants are forced to smile and never show any other emotion.

my piece will be based around the escape of a servant,or maybe the death of one.

the facesless also keep giant pets as guards to make sure know one can escape.

thats a ruff idea of the story for ya.

03-22-2005, 01:23 PM
sounds like some dark s*#t. very nice. go noob

03-22-2005, 02:19 PM (

hmmm maybe instead of a dog,he cud have a cat, this is just a quicky of cat, practice, trying to get that atmospheric look.

03-22-2005, 02:41 PM
nice 'lil cat you got there, is it available for adoption? ;). Good luck, cool concept.

03-22-2005, 02:45 PM
nice 'lil cat you got there, is it available for adoption? ;). Good luck, cool concept.

03-22-2005, 05:28 PM
i'm allowed to have just a lil bit of violence aren't i?? or will i be disquilified?

03-22-2005, 06:36 PM (

well dali is one of my biggest inspirations, and as far as him being in this piece will not only show how much i appreciate his art,but will be for a reason...HE IS MY MASTER!!

lol,so why not make him a master in this piece,he will be the leading the *faceless*,just a quick sketch.

03-22-2005, 06:47 PM
looks really good so far! Good luck in the comp

03-22-2005, 06:58 PM
I love Dali..... and I love cats.... but most of all so far I love your faceless tall guy, he is good!

03-22-2005, 07:14 PM
man, that faceless thing is so tim burtonesque

it's ace

03-22-2005, 08:07 PM
watching and waiting to see where this is going...

good luck! keep posting

03-23-2005, 10:36 AM (

just an inprogress sketch, exploring how my characters will be portrayed, ofcourse inspired by dali's surrealness,i emphasised the muscles to show how much work these servants have to do.

the faceless will be in the back along with there pets...and dali.this will not be my final composition, its just will look less cartoony once its painted.

03-23-2005, 10:37 AM
Looking cool! Good luck! :)

03-23-2005, 12:21 PM
i see wheels are a rolling pretty good here already , carry on:thumbsup:

03-23-2005, 01:40 PM (

its hard to understand, cos its just lineart, but it will all come together in colour.

colour progress soon...again,this won't be my final though.

they are forced to smile by wires pulled by the faceless, those tall evil do-ers.

03-23-2005, 03:19 PM (

just started to colour it ,warming up my colour skills.

03-23-2005, 03:42 PM

03-23-2005, 04:34 PM
What's not to like.
Love your style. Looking through the posts thus far it seems to be a very common theme for this contest though.

03-23-2005, 08:29 PM
Hi Noob! The colour is looking great! You can definitely see the Dali influence in your work!

03-23-2005, 08:30 PM
Yours is freakier than mine. Nice work man. Like the boobs! I like the direction of your attack and who you're attacking.

03-23-2005, 08:57 PM
Hey dude - thanks for dropping by there at my thread - Good luck too you - and niiiiiiice kind of surreal image you got there - keep´em coming

03-23-2005, 09:20 PM
you are far away from my thread, and i hope you will put sikness and blood in the final drawing.
pretty gore.

03-23-2005, 09:25 PM
Holy crap! That sketch of your composition is really creepy. And the small color test you just posted makes the woman look like she's made of rotted meat! I love the chunckiness of the paint. This is quite a disturbing piece. Does it make me a sick bastard to want to see how it turns out?

03-23-2005, 11:53 PM
Good outline, Nubian...

03-23-2005, 11:57 PM
Were her nipples sliced off?? OW! I honestly wish you would have kept the master concept- character from the first page. That was great. But I'd definetely like to see where you're headed with this one! :-)

03-24-2005, 12:34 AM
Nice and a bit bizzare start man! I like it. :) good luck in this challenge and cant wait to see this piece finished.

03-24-2005, 01:05 AM
pretty sick and disturbing mate! I like where this is going. I like that faceless dude idea you had. Well... I think it would be cool not to have him faceless, but let him have Salvador's face with that characteristic mustache of his.

Anyways, great work allready, good luck, I will keep an eye out for this one

03-24-2005, 10:28 AM
Were her nipples sliced off?? OW! I honestly wish you would have kept the master concept- character from the first page. That was great. But I'd definetely like to see where you're headed with this one! :-)

theres 3 of those faceless guys in the back in the lineart if u look carfully, but i'm colouring now so they will become more clear.

and everyone else thanks so much for the support,i want to freak u out hehe.

i dunno about giving my faceless guy... a face, lol maybe a faceless guy with just a mustache?? thats sounds like a great idea.

hehe i'll make an update in like 6hrs.

03-24-2005, 10:53 AM

original concept! not cliché at all! No sir!

The forced smile could be your ACE in this game! If you really capture (getting there) the suffering in the grins you're the man! You chose tough emotions but still got plenty of time!
I'm waiting to see what the focus of your image will be...

Never assume that you've got plenty of time, cause that leads to no good :P

Keep going!

03-24-2005, 10:58 AM
Royal freakyness, sir!! :bounce: Great start and in it's very nicely creepy!!!
Sure be'll hanging around!!!
Good luck and lot of fun!

03-24-2005, 02:27 PM
thanks u guys appreciated, turns out i won't finish colouring that cos its pointless,as its not gunna be my final,so why continue, that test was enough to see if my colours where up to grade and if i cud achieve the rough style i wanted.

anywho,i think i'll start working on my official compisition,i'm thinking of doing something landscape, one of the servants will try to escape, basically ripping the wires from the mouth *the ones that force them to smile* and she will be running whilst the other servants watch on and the faceless and dali looking on.

the scene will be dark, kinda in the mountains or rocky area trees, clouds lighting?? rain??

any more ideas feel free to drop by.i'll post sum sketches of characters later just so i can make sure i know what they look like.i don't get confused when colouring.

03-24-2005, 04:15 PM
I haven't seen your art on artxilla in a while but this is good. keep it up.

03-24-2005, 04:17 PM (

another dali sketch, trying to make him look twisted,oh and a face less guy in the back for fun!heh.

03-24-2005, 04:23 PM (

i'm struggling trying to get it to look like they don't want to smile...this is the closest i have come to it.

03-24-2005, 04:25 PM
Your latest twisted Dali concept is my favourite so far! It's the kind of face I like to draw sometimes!

03-24-2005, 04:26 PM (

this is a creature inspired by dalis work yet again,he did elephants and other animals with thin stick like legs,i cudn't help but give it a go.
so this a skeleton canine type thing.

03-24-2005, 04:28 PM
dunno why it submitted twice,oh well!

03-24-2005, 04:32 PM (

cat inspired by dali yet again.

last quicky before i get down and dirty on my official composition.

03-24-2005, 04:47 PM
nice, it's got something elegant about it, dunno what exactly :D
curious about your "official composition" :D

03-24-2005, 04:54 PM
Ha. my name familliar? naw I am a nobody.
Nice ideas. Maybe you should draw that gaint dog eating his master.

03-24-2005, 05:06 PM
I was going to use that idea but someone will come along and say that ain't right(or even banned off of the forum. Did you get your membership back at ledheavy anyway?). I may sit back and read my Cannon busters (took long enuff 4 the book 2 come out) to get inspired lol.

03-24-2005, 05:10 PM
naw man pushav,i'm not bothered bout led no more, thats a life time ago haha,i still check back there now again and i see senseless arguments over crap.and the same at xilla too,but now xilla has become just and art forum?? so its cool there i don't post there often though.

i really think u shud take on religion,it won't offend fellow artists.

as for me,i'm gunna get started on my compostion in about an hour or so,hope to hear back from u.

03-24-2005, 06:01 PM

All my encouragement for new challenge Good starting
Good luck

03-24-2005, 09:15 PM
Enough talk NOOB! you're posting in all the threads and not updating enough. What happened to the colouring work you started? Did you stop that comp?

03-24-2005, 09:24 PM
Enough talk NOOB! you're posting in all the threads and not updating enough. What happened to the colouring work you started? Did you stop that comp?

i explained the situation with those colours on the last page mr clever boots hehehe.

look backeth then judge thee!!! lol

i'm working on the lineart for my final comp now..check back tommorow.

03-24-2005, 09:36 PM
Double post. Sorry NOOB! :banghead:

03-24-2005, 09:37 PM
Hey NOOB!,

Though it might be trite, you could place tears streaking down the cheecks to show the slaves are frowning on the inside. Also, adding sress-out wrinkles and sweat could help with making their anguish a focal point. I'm sure when you add color, the filth, and emotion will be clear and unmistakable.

Also, why get implants if you're not allowed to keep your nipples? Oh. Torture. Right. :buttrock:

Are the male slaves equally denuded, or have they all been eaten by the bone beasts? Probably kept away from the women as a population control measure.

Beautifully morbid sketches and detailed nightmare. Keep it nasty! :buttrock:

03-24-2005, 10:00 PM
Some interesting sketches you got starting this thing up.. nice.

03-24-2005, 10:03 PM
I love Dali..... and I love cats.... but most of all so far I love your faceless tall guy, he is good!
agreed i love the master good job noob :)

03-24-2005, 11:03 PM
wow, youve got a great style and concpet going on here. i also like that faceless guys on the 1st page. also, the guy who mentioned tears as a sign that their forced, thats a good idea. really wanna see how this turns out.

03-25-2005, 12:36 AM
nice ca-dog hound. Maybe a bodyless ca-dog being a servant to a human head. Something like a Chimera.

03-25-2005, 03:01 AM
The idea is wicked! likign it already. The cats are lovely in their own special way...Good luck!

03-25-2005, 08:21 AM
A very disturbing start............ cool.........! We like dark and twisted - much more interesting. Good luck with the progress. Claireabella

03-25-2005, 08:57 AM
Cool Cat Noob! Maybe someone has already mentioned this but it reminds me if those Egyptian Hounds. You know those freaky looking hounds that guard the Pharos.

Nice 'n' creepy!
Best of luck dude.

My Master & servant : :buttrock:

03-25-2005, 09:46 AM

03-25-2005, 03:59 PM
I wish I had this many comments. Lol I never really subscribe to threads. I may give up on my entry and work on a comic or something.

03-25-2005, 05:41 PM
good concept, a very great potential of horrific pic, like an heilraser scene, good work:thumbsup:

03-25-2005, 08:45 PM

03-26-2005, 07:09 AM
Hey! Noobs I like your style especially your coloring sketch!!
it so powerful!!!

03-26-2005, 04:17 PM (

after doin a series of thumbnails *which i won\'t bother posting, cos no one understands them but me*i came up up with a final composition and started pencilling yesterday,i was supposed to post this like 5 hrs ago,but my comp friggin ran out of disk space and all these problems blah blah!!

i want to make this pic exciting, and bizarre, the great thing about drawing dali style is anatomy doesn\'t matter hah.thats why i have chosen such a detailed scene,i will explain whats happeneing and why its happening soon.

and i'll be finishing these pencils tonight.

03-26-2005, 05:19 PM
WICKEEED i likes, seriouslz man if u properly colour this babz it would kick some serious booties:thumbsup:

03-26-2005, 05:21 PM
whats happening NOOB!??

basically the escaping girl in the bottom left has caused the faceless,to break into panic, causing the wires *wrapped around the faceless's fingers, that hold there smiles* to pull even harder , leaving all the servants in pain,The faceless's pets are trying to stop the mayhem and are also trying to capture the girl that is escaping.ONE FROWN TO DESTROY THEM ALL!!!

uhm does that make sense??

feel free to ask questions....

edit: thanks nebz

03-26-2005, 05:36 PM
Thanx man u can be sure ill be hangin on your work:D

03-26-2005, 05:47 PM
Really great stuff! There will be many figures I see so I just hope u'll manage to finish that piece in time. But then it will sure look nothing less than awesome! Waiting for ur coloring scheme... will u use dali's saturated colors? That would fit the pic I think.

03-26-2005, 06:25 PM
Hi! I browsed your gallery yesterday and you sure have a wide range of style. And Thats Good! I like the cat a lot, my friend draws cats like that and he's from Iran so maybe you have some persian "influence" in you ;)

Great joba-job!

03-26-2005, 06:38 PM
Mister Dali and that weird 4-legged thingamajig loook SWEET!! I hate the cat, though. I mean, you didn't draw it badly or anything, but the cat creeps me out. Great stuff!

03-26-2005, 07:03 PM
Are they all in Purgatory ? . Excellent drawing by the way.
Have u heard of an artist called Simon Bisely ? Your style reminds me of his work.
Keep up the good work chief.
Can't wait 2 see colour on this.
T.

03-26-2005, 07:10 PM
thank u all for the neat comments!

i haven't heard of simon bisley tariq but i'll do a google search for him.thanks

ninja i haven't really thought about colour scheme yet, only style of painting, but i guess it will be slightly saturated, look at anything by dali, that what i'm aiming for.

fuego,i do have persian influence in me actually.

tekno ur freaked out by the cat?? good, exactly what i'm aiming for.

i'll post the final lineart tommorow guys, hope to hear from most of u.

edit: TARIQ i search for simon bisley his art is great, very inspirational, thanks for that.

03-27-2005, 12:26 AM
This is a very nice composoition so far and very bizarre indeed. This composition looks like a collage to me. Good stuff NOOB:thumbsup:

03-27-2005, 03:46 AM
I was wondering if you were going to make a nalue study...and if it is going to be more obvious that the tall evil doers are creating the smiles.

03-27-2005, 03:47 AM
I was wondering if you were going to make a value study...and if it is going to be more obvious that the tall evil doers are creating the smiles. I love this piece already, it has soo much life and energy. You Rock!!!:buttrock:

03-27-2005, 06:32 AM
More update. Can't help myself but to say that. Good luck NOOB!

03-27-2005, 06:47 AM
love the concepts, would like to see more

03-27-2005, 07:10 AM
Once you mentioned Dali you instantly trapped me. I love surrealism, he is my favorite artist!
So , I cant wait to see where you take this concept....I love the cat (reminds me of my lil devil that just left me a pretty lil scar on my foot) Good Luck

03-27-2005, 07:22 AM
Your style really interests me (kind of creepy :scream:). I hope to see more updates. Good luck as well!

03-27-2005, 07:58 AM
give you credit for you skills :) hope to see more of the good stuff soon

03-27-2005, 10:43 AM
hehe noob you done a lot since i last looked!
i like it took me a wile to figure out what was going on :)
i still like the master image with his servant dogs/cats on his own but thats me :).
maybe take some of the non important stuff out? give a bit of space?

03-27-2005, 11:11 AM (

its too early to finish my i'm gunna be doin sum colour tests, this is sumthin i started yesterday.

i might go back and finish these tests, this is only half done..

03-27-2005, 11:16 AM
digiscape, the master and cat is boring an un original i won't be goin with that.

as for taking out stuff that isn't important...its all important, otherwise i wudn't have included it

03-27-2005, 11:17 AM
Yeah, I think these colors will work good, but is the background gonna be black(ish)?

03-27-2005, 11:20 AM
it won't be this dark .

but it will have this kinda style, atmospheric,if its too dark u won't be able to see any of the detail.

03-27-2005, 11:21 AM
you using a mac noob?

i had to adjust my monitor to see them. but when i did wow amazing looking characters, very impressive.
you should check this guy out is work reminds me of you! check his personal work out

03-27-2005, 11:25 AM
digiscape, the master and cat is boring an un original i won't be goin with that.

as for taking out stuff that isn't important...its all important, otherwise i wudn't have included it

understood you know your direction better than i do :) sometimes helps you to think even when they dont know what they are on about like me :)

03-27-2005, 11:25 AM
no i'm not using mac, looks fine on my comp, hmmmm.

another artist that looks like my work??? hahaha the reason for that is i'm influenced by almost everyone,i tend to mix different styles into my work.i'll look at his stuff soon...

thanks man!!! stay tuned.

03-27-2005, 11:28 AM
I think it's time for the line-art :wip: I don't think such color-tests will help a lot since they can not tell how it would work in final composition...

03-27-2005, 11:31 AM
i'm looking for technique of colouring ,like brushes etc.blah blah..not..the colours i use etc.

u may not think it helps,but i do :)

lol and patience!! the finished line art for the final compositon will be done soon, even if it is a bit early:bounce: .

03-27-2005, 11:34 AM
If so I must say that from the technique, the gold-blue thingy is very good and the other two are not so good :)

03-27-2005, 11:36 AM
Some scary stuff going on here I love your colour tests, great texture in the faces too. Yup I'll be watching your thread very carefully.

03-27-2005, 11:38 AM
If so I must say that from the technique, the gold-blue thingy is very good and the other two are not so good :)

hmm i disagree, the *other two* are the style i'm goin for.
anyways we all have our opinions,if u wud like to explain what u don't like about em,i'll be happy to know, for now...i'm gunna get beck to colouring.

03-27-2005, 11:52 AM
Well, I guess it's because the light looks very realistic on that one, but your drawing is gonna be stylized anyway so maybe that's not how it should be... I don't know... have to see more first :)

well dalis work was very stylized but he used realistic tones too.

03-27-2005, 05:22 PM
Dude , all i can saz is OUT of this planet, this style fits the image perfectly. it has that mildly psychodelic feeling, kind of a tim burton thing going on there, and i like it, it has the sub surface ritchness of layers. MOORE!

03-27-2005, 06:16 PM

03-27-2005, 08:33 PM
Coool coloring tech man:eek: , love in it, wanna see more!!

03-27-2005, 09:49 PM
well, like your surreal approaches and wild way to explore. whatever helps for the final is ok so far, as long as you don't naked run down trafalgar square on lsd thinking you're a gen-mutated mouse and try to convince ppl to vote you for premier.
As you are still developing, no crits so far. Just came to subscribe and wish you bloody loadsa fun. yep. cheers!

03-28-2005, 10:04 AM
yo NOOB!

what resolution do you work with?

are you following the guidelines foir resolution, or are you just coloring away in whatever size you feel like?

constantly checking this thread and liking it!

03-28-2005, 10:52 AM (

just started to colour it ,warming up my colour skills.

This is really great! I love the skin color. This is a kind of "dark painting"?
Let's see some updates, i lov your thread!

03-28-2005, 11:38 AM (

this still no where unfinished, wasn't sure which milestone to put it under, but i choose sketch cos its not really a colour wip of my final.

ur probably bored of the colour tests by now,but they are essential if i wanna make the final look awsome,plus...its like not even april yet.
just working on the facless costume and sizes.

03-28-2005, 11:41 AM
Ranath: i suppose

eclipson: thanks glad u like

the1st_angel: damn thanks, never had anyone subscribe b4...i think.

Adamos: 300dpi,not sure the image demensions, but its pretty huge.

Brutal Monk:it will be a dark painting, not dark as in dark colours, just dark as in twisted.

03-28-2005, 11:56 AM
U know it man, it is all about, testing the feeling of the colour... btw, just wondering, do you have the same problem of determining the milestone, i know i do. especialy lineart:applause:

03-28-2005, 12:02 PM
Woww that last colorresearch rocks NOOB!!Like the distorted way of your characters!!!
Keep m coming:bounce:

03-28-2005, 12:30 PM
thanks ,i'm also inspired by peter chung *aeon flux* which wud explain the distortions.

hey guys u may have not seen the final lineart for the official compostion, but u've seen the unfinished one.

where do u think i shud go with it colour wise??? enchanting, earthy or organic??

ur input wud be great,i do record everything sed.

03-28-2005, 12:54 PM
colours are great, did you check that link out yet? i think you will like that guys work :)

03-28-2005, 01:06 PM
wow** breath-taking work so far man. hope u'll be done with the color testing soon, 'cos this thread is addictive. **sniffs**

loves the raw colouring u did with the gal... think organic is the way to go for the man. 2 cents.

03-28-2005, 02:18 PM
hmmm this is looking great! *nods* :D
the dark tones will make it pretty creepy i guess... the composition overall is very interesting too.
i hope the final will be great ;)

best of luck!

03-28-2005, 04:45 PM
Hi, Noob!

I'm not really into the "masters" thing but Dali was always a bit of an exception with his strange, skiny creatures! :)
I just realized, looking at your first sketches - they make me think of Mojo and the Spineless from the X-Men stories. LOL!
I do think it's a really cool concept and it has a unique look to it.
Good going and good luck!

03-28-2005, 05:36 PM
hi NOOB! i really like your style! i think you have a good idea, and taking it really seriousy!cheers:D keep up the good work!!!

03-28-2005, 05:47 PM
flux rocks! Nice to see u are craking on noob. really goign well..unlike mine. got a case of artists bloke!

03-28-2005, 05:48 PM (

yep! another test, this time on one of my *caniton* creatures, don't worry they will only be about two more.

03-28-2005, 05:59 PM
nice doggy doggy

03-28-2005, 06:22 PM
doggy?? DOGGY?

as in cute?

03-28-2005, 06:28 PM
I like that they have so much muskle-bumps or whatever. But the eyes could need some more attention, try to make them shiny white or glowing

03-28-2005, 08:25 PM
Nice, but don't let it walk on your lawn. I think a bigger chest and a thinner stomach would look better (on me as well as the dog).

03-28-2005, 08:30 PM
it had a bigger chest and small stomach in my orignal concept sketch, dunno what happened

bah! anyway, not important, its the colouring thats important.

thanks for checking out my thread,u know ur rox already.

03-28-2005, 08:42 PM
Hey Noob, those creatures are creepy - i like it hehe. Just waiting for you to put them together into the big scary piece! fantastic!:scream:

03-28-2005, 09:10 PM
I really like your style and story, it really unique and also the color that so difference from an old school technics, so...
I love it, and wish i could do some stroke like this...

03-28-2005, 09:54 PM
Hiya man, about that question where to take the colouring, u know as well as i do that every direction has its advantages, i mean, organics suit this work excellent, but it also needs atmosphere of the moodyness. in the end its all about balancing the elements. I know u can do it man:buttrock:

03-28-2005, 10:33 PM

It's hard to say anything about your colors until we can see them in one comp!
It's nice that you're working your characters carefully one at a time, but the comp needs to be defined sooner or later...

or will you repose and reposition each and every one of your characters?

03-28-2005, 10:36 PM
or will you repose and reposition each and every one of your characters?

if i was crazy...

lol,i guess ur right though, but i'll still finish a couple of test colours, and then get to work on the final comp for u all.

03-28-2005, 11:07 PM
ok, you make bad nightmare!
my psy tell me that is good to put in paper your dream...
keep it! i am whatching you

03-29-2005, 08:35 AM
Lovely Dali style but with more horror taste to it. I love it! And especially that faceless guy who is painted awesome. Those little details on his chest makes him so real. I hope u'll use that techniwue on all characters. The dog still needs some more define strokes, some light tones. And thats all from me :) Great stuff!

03-29-2005, 10:27 AM
hey NOOB.
great canine, i dont find it cute really, so dont worry, i think it is kinda spooky, the way you really wanted it to be. anyway i really like all your sketches since i am an admireror of Dali also.
they all have an odd, but atmospheric purity. cant wait to see more of it all..:applause:

03-29-2005, 10:48 AM
Here Doggy doggy doggy.. WAIT a MINUTE, THAT S NO DOG... AAARGH. seriousl demonic beast, i give it four Chainsaws:D

03-29-2005, 01:54 PM (

blah.just seeing where i can go with these creatures.

ARRGGHHH! these are my last tests, now to finish my final lineart....

03-29-2005, 04:23 PM
thats one helluva dog man
more chest area for the demonic dog looks much better, more proportioned... loves the color as always.

come to think of it, the cat demon below looks like my house cat~ hmmm.. not gonna let her sleep with me tonite... *shivers*

03-29-2005, 05:13 PM
the redline suggestion sounds good to me - try to think a dynamic backbone to that creature. So yeah, I'd say you should go for the redline suggestion

03-29-2005, 05:24 PM
double post, sorry

03-29-2005, 05:29 PM
Hey looks great! good luck mate :)

03-29-2005, 06:21 PM
The cat is going to give me nightmares... Jeez this is going to be a good entry.

03-29-2005, 07:12 PM
A fantastic Dali-inspired piece, not to mention a great background stroy to go with it. That caricature of Dali (second one) was just genius... As for the dog/cat beasts, the fact the dog one has no ears really freaks me out, though I kinda like the drowned look of the cat. As a fellow lover of dali's style and technical competence, I shall keep an eye on how this progresses as you add colour.

03-29-2005, 07:14 PM
lolt hat creature reminds me of an ant and a dog combined for some reason.. lol...I wonder how this one will turn out!!!:bounce:

03-29-2005, 07:20 PM
Really like the sketches and ideas so far, can't wait to see more :)

03-29-2005, 07:37 PM
nice kitty
from the last sketch, top is way better

03-30-2005, 11:10 AM
YUP i agree, the new dog suggestion is way more dynamic, has that anubis thing going on... see there IS something Egyptian in your work:D

03-30-2005, 02:07 PM
its hard to help noob,(lucky he doesnt need much) with his style seeing as its a very personal style, but for me that cat should be even skinnier bit like this

03-30-2005, 03:53 PM
Lot of crazy colour sketches. I'd like to see that Final layout with some colour in it. Where's it at?

03-31-2005, 04:25 AM
very nice sureal sorta style..i like the wierd stuff :D

looking forward for more updates..good luck

03-31-2005, 04:54 AM

Latest Update: Concept Sketch: last test (

blah.just seeing where i can go with these creatures.

ARRGGHHH! these are my last tests, now to finish my final lineart....

Love the style of your concept art... some people have a concept style that is a true artform in it's own right. Very cool.

03-31-2005, 12:24 PM (

ladies and gentle men, coloring this is goin to be A TASK!!! phew....

i'm probably the only one that understands it as now.theres lots happening, which is good, cos i want people to stare at it forever until they go blind and have to get there children to tell them whats goin on cos they didn't manage to finish before they went blind......*ahem* *gasps for breath*

03-31-2005, 12:34 PM
great psychedelic jamboree you got going on dude! good luck with the coloring, remember to make the image readable! I myself have got some serious issues with the storytelling of my images, so I'll work on that!

Just saying so, because you've got a whole lot going on in that concept!

carry on...

03-31-2005, 12:37 PM
ALLRIGHT NOOB , that s the stuff, u sure have a Dali meets hellraiser atmosphere goin on, this wll kick ass coloured.... BRINGIN DA HEAT MAN!!!:D

03-31-2005, 03:55 PM
Well ,your sketch looks so free.About your line art,I think it's similar to the pattern in the cave BC.But I do wish you can decrease sth.

03-31-2005, 03:59 PM
Well ,your sketch looks so free.About your line art,I think it's similar to the pattern in the cave BC.But I do wish you can decrease sth.

i didn't understand what u sed my friend.

what pattern?

cave bc?

decrease sth?

03-31-2005, 04:07 PM
Wow that's a full composition you got there man! Haven't checked your thread for a while (sorry, sorry) and found some great concept sketches I didn't see yet, good job:thumbsup:
I didn't see faceless guy at first and I wondered if you dropped that concept, but I found him after a closer look.

So what are you still hanging around here for? you got some work to do man!;)

03-31-2005, 04:37 PM
lol jus waiting around for input.

do u guys think i shud start colouring from back to front or front to back.

03-31-2005, 04:47 PM
Lots of great character design.
Only one concern is the compostion wise, every characters are spread all over the image.
I think it makes out of focus.
Good process.
I would like to see more.
Keep it up!

03-31-2005, 04:52 PM
i guess if i squashed all the characters together the focus wud be much better

thanks for commenting, but not all the characters are the main focus, the main point of the image is mayhem, thus this heavy composition.

i think it will become allot clearer as colour is added.

03-31-2005, 06:12 PM
Lot going on here. It'll be interesting to see how you organize things with color and value.

03-31-2005, 06:40 PM

lots of painting. make sure you got the time.
i got all worked up in the machinefleshchallenge, and then ran out of time.
(damn paying customers, stuffing money down my pockets)

Anyway, best of luck, and it looks nice, and promising.

03-31-2005, 06:48 PM
Holy Bovines... you like making life hard for yourself. I don't envy you colouring this, but the effort will undoubtedly end in a kick ass final picture. I'm tempted to bounce with anticipation... :bounce:

03-31-2005, 08:11 PM
Sweet, you finished the lineart, very unique idea color it! I command you servant ! LOL:twisted:

Woah, you play that game too! I play it like everyday, capture the flag mostly. I go on TsT server alot, user name Corey. Which version are you talking about unreal tournament 2004? or the older versions?

03-31-2005, 09:12 PM

03-31-2005, 09:29 PM

It is really great work.

04-01-2005, 08:03 PM

04-01-2005, 08:31 PM
*puts on movie voice*

maozao thanks man,much appreciated.

04-01-2005, 08:39 PM
Its very chaotic with so much commotion that it is hard to fucus on. Yet after reading the "story overview" I begin to understand why it is drawn in that way. I wonder what it will be like when the colors are into place.

04-01-2005, 08:43 PM
yep thats why i wanted hermine that responded six posts ago to look back in the thread, cos any one thats just viewed this thread won't understand the concept.

its choatic,its confusing,its Dali esq.

and thanks for the reply, hope u check back tommorow for a colour update.

04-01-2005, 09:04 PM
Wow, there is a lot going on there! Should be a fun piece to paint.

04-01-2005, 10:21 PM
There is alot of information going on here. nice concept and by the way I made 2 sketches to my entry.

04-01-2005, 11:53 PM
Thanks for your post!

i'm reviewing your thread... i'll tell you what i think when i'm done.

good luck

04-02-2005, 10:25 AM (

well as u can see,i've started blocking in sum colour,i'll be working back to front.

don't worry it won't be all dark in the final, these are just sum base colours.

and i'll probably lose most of the lineart as i go along.

i've already gone ahead with the clouds and sea,but its not even they aren't a 3rd done, but i figured i'd post sum progress.

04-02-2005, 10:34 AM
glad to see some colour... will watch ur progress colosly in painting stage. clouds look moddy. good. put a bit more colour in though (subtle though) as it looks to metalic ish at mo.

04-02-2005, 11:12 AM
looking pretty cool... there's a fair bit going on. hope you have time to finish it. best of luck.

04-02-2005, 11:13 AM
you might want to revise your color scheme a bit, try to get your colors work in perfect harmony - now your image is lacking depth due the unconnected colors. A good way to solve this just sketch with color with no attention whatsoever on details. You can start by using monochromatic pallette or just 2 colors, which is usually easiest way to do it - you can always tweak towards more colors later on. Concentrate more on values and depth, and stay away from gray, white and black alltogether while working with color.

Cloud textures and sketch looks quite promising, especially the cloud textures, though you shouldn't bother with it too much at this stage.

Keep up, and good luck!

04-02-2005, 11:19 AM
thanks u guys!

ranath thanks for the crits,as sed its mostly the under painting,i tend to work from dark up to light,so everything u mentioned shud come about.......

04-02-2005, 11:45 AM
now your image is lacking depth due the unconnected colors.

ok wait a sec i missed what colours are unconnected??? all??? maybe the sea is a lil too different.

suggestions wud be very helpfull!

04-02-2005, 12:24 PM
Hey Noob,
your entry is looking fantastic, wish you all the very best. I like your style :arteest:

Good luck!!!

04-02-2005, 12:26 PM
This is nice surreal, dude. I love the idea:thumbsup:

04-02-2005, 01:25 PM
Hoi! I really like your concepts, but I can't help to feel that you'r latest WIP has perhaps too many points of interest? Anyway, I really like your "surreal-style", keep this up and you will have a nice result in the end! :)

04-02-2005, 02:22 PM
too many parts interest u?? thats great!! haha

don't worry colours will sort that out.

right now i need sum tips and crits...

04-02-2005, 04:21 PM
hi there,
I think you may want to get rid of the gray for now, and just work with the value of blue
otherwise loks great a little busy but great

04-02-2005, 05:54 PM
well as u guys insist,i'll lose the grey.

cos clouds are never grey.

don't dis regard that fact that this is a surreal painting guys, not realistic

04-02-2005, 06:05 PM
Yeah, NOOB... I agree with you about being able to choose subjective colours for your piece because it IS a surreal painting. And besides... clouds can appear almost any colour under the right conditions.

Love your style, by the way. Can't wait to see it finished! Cheers.

my 2D entry:

04-02-2005, 06:15 PM
yknow my first thought when i laid eyes on this one was , holy crap , its DOOMSDAY, that says alot about the atmosphere:thumbsup:   , good luck with the tablet man

04-02-2005, 07:19 PM
The Dali is THE BEST!!! LUCK!!!

04-02-2005, 07:23 PM
nice work. I like the clouds and keep the grey/gray. Digital sketching is starting to grow on me. Oh yeah a lot of people have never really seen my work in colors before. I can paint a little. I try. I am more of a sketch artist. Pencils and paper all the way. Fo' sho'

04-02-2005, 07:24 PM
the faceless forcing people to smile, sounds like a metaphor for the sinister cosmetics industry.. looking forward to c how it develops!

04-02-2005, 07:57 PM
Hey Noob, just thought I would visit since you have already been by my thread several times. Wow, you really have your work cut out for you, thats alot of figures. Progression looks good and almost has a Dali feel to it.

04-02-2005, 08:11 PM
your characters is fabulous, i wait the colorization details; good work:thumbsup:

04-02-2005, 08:11 PM
artjunkie :thanks, well i half agree with sum of the crits people have given, but its probably because people haven't really read the rest of the thread and haven't understood the concept and inspiration, and i don't blame em cos there are only human,i tend not to read any earlier posts in other peoples threads either.

glad u like my style.

nebz:thanks my man,i guess thats a good thing, but i still got lots of crap to fix.

eRDe:haha thanks,dali rules!

pushav:thanks for commenting,i may lose sum greys though

GTM:haha i guess it cud be a metaphor for that, who knows

shane:thanks for stopping by shane, glad ur liking so far.

MDN67: thanks allot man,appreciated.
more updates soon!

04-02-2005, 08:40 PM

04-02-2005, 08:46 PM
cant wait to see how this turns out. looks great so far.

04-02-2005, 09:25 PM
Do not loose the greys lol. The greys will give this picture a scary atmosphere to it. And I may add a new robot to my entry.

04-02-2005, 11:50 PM
I like the cat. :)
Good luck, mate.

04-03-2005, 12:19 AM
still a bite crazyness in your drawing!
you are right to put dark in the back, so the character will be more visible.

Jack Youngblood
04-03-2005, 02:51 PM
My! What a busy post this is. Very ambitious idea, gonna be a lot of work. I like yr drawing. Been to yr website as well. Nicely put together. How long you been going? You a London guy you gotta know the forbidden planet. Was there the other day and saw someone you might like: Moebius. You know him? Draws like a god.

04-03-2005, 03:07 PM
forbidden planet near tottenham court rd station? sure, haven't been there in quite a while though! i've been there twice since they moved and got a bigger store.i used to go there to pick up comics..but i don't really lke comics no more,i moved to animation *2d that is*

never heard of mobieus i'll look for him online.

arggghh!! i decided i don't like those clouds at all...i went to continue working on the colours opened it up...and thought...HELL NO!!

this is in red so u will read,i have a few ideas about i show more sky than cloud??i'm thinking of doin these cool kinda swirly clouds i saw in a dali painting. about i get rid of the blue sea? and make that clouds or mist, that wud make the faceless look much taller?

sounds good?? please gimme more input on colouring, don't seem to be getting any, don't be scared.....i don't bite...unless u want me too..

*that last part applies to gurls only*

more ideas, more input guys MOOOORE!!

Yeah, I think more sky and less clouds would be nice. I don't know about sky/water proportions though, you should do a colour sketch first.

04-03-2005, 04:17 PM
u think i shud get rid of the water completly??

now that i look at it colored it kinda looks out of place.....

hmm..need MORE opinions!!!

04-03-2005, 04:34 PM
you imagination is wild! i say keep the water, it breaks the image up a bit. also you got the freaky dudes emerging from it, where are they gonna live otherwise, they cant live on just mist?!?!?! this is cool, though id like to see some nice colour in the characters to take away the dull. MORE SKY LESS CLOUDS! I say keep water though, cos mist will be harder to colour and make look good. Keep it UP

i was thinkin of losing the water cos most mountains *yeh look i have mountains in there* are above the clouds, and i thought if i cud make that whole area clouds, sky and mist,it wud make it more obvious we looking down on the scene.

I'm so unsure,and confused...this is fun hehehe.

i still need a few more opinions on the clouds and sea dilema before i can make my final decision.

go with the mist man, i for one can tell u from personal experience it makes big things look bigger, btw did u fix the tablet?

04-03-2005, 05:11 PM
tablet is all gud now my man,

but now my mouse doesn't work, but thats ok...cos i can just use my wacom mouse, wohoo!

man i want to do mist, the sea kinda looks outta perspective anyway, cos if we are viewing from above, the horizon line shud be much lower, and i feel that takes away from the pic.

do u agree with that Aidenn? hope so,don't want u too feel i'm not open to ur opinion, maybe i'll do two versions.

nebezial,do u agree i shud show more sky than cloud?

opinions from anyone else wud be much appreciated too.

still thinkin.

crazy ass concept, just checking in, must finish it, I wonder how you're gonna balance out the scene....too early to say anything!

check ya later!

peace out

ok my personal opinion is that this works fine and ill tell u why, it gives a feeling of vast space controlled by the masters, more sky would indeed suggest a lower horiyon and demand a perspective change, it doesnt matter it is dali style, it would tick the eye off. i get like this in the early stages, but the reason i like ur work so much is the fact that from any stage i can see it develop to perfection, in the end it wont matter if there is more sky or sea, but how the colours balance out. there is one other reason why i like it as it is, the overall horisontal lining gives a perspective feeling. personally MAYBE i would use a more yellowish light, it helps to accentuate the outline of the masters, but thats just my way of doing things, hope i could help u even for a little bit man. ps GOOD, U R BACK IN BUSINESS:D

04-03-2005, 05:53 PM
 dude u just sed u wanted mist and to get rid of the sea,and now u say u like the horizon, which is caused by the sea, waaaaaah!

that yellow light sounds pretty cool.

the clouds....i will do new ones...but i will keep the old ones in a seperate file,if no one likes the new clouds,i will just copy and paste the new ones back in.

cos i a came across another dali painting the other day with these cool clouds....inspiration

so i'm still keepin in with the dali style.
and thanks for the *perfection* comment  lol

i'll get back to work today, and hopefully i'll have an update for mid weak.

but please drop more opinions guys.

Okay here's my opinion!

Not yet on the colors, but first on your mountain/mist water situation:

The mountains are from a side view, but the water behind it is viewed slightly from the top! That's not exactly realistic, but I'd expect surrealness from a picture inspired by Dalí :) so that's okay, but you have to decide what you want (so many of us are confused hehe, and yes that IS fun, who wants to be in total control of art anyway?! ummm okay I do...:) someday!... )

So if you want a view from the top, then either your characters are huge (too close to the bird from a bird's view), or your vision on this piece is psychedelic. Both are acceptable :) . I'd say that the mist in the background is reeeallly cool as it is now. the water needs a lot of work, and your mountains are still integrated with the foreground, you haven't separated them from the characters. By the way, what's the focal point of your image? Where do you want to drive the eye? Cause now I'd be looking from one point to another, without a reason. Lotsa information in there, got to pop a couple of stuff out. (Maybe maximum 2-3 elements) I really don't want to influence you too much, so I'll go with a "let's wait and see where you go" - and then I'll be more than greatful to crit once more. Glad you asked me!

But try a couple of cg choice award guys for crits, (PM them and be respectful, (not that you're disrespectful or anything) I'm just saying do your research and after complimenting a couple of their inspiring works I'm sure you'll get wonderful crits, - I did :) )

yeah man, but picture this, mist on the sea+ yellow light, u see where im goin at, light can penetrate the mist and also defines the sea surface
