Really nice orc strike, it's cool to see you work in zbrush exclusively for modeling etc, have you tried anything like taron with animating your work?

04-03-2005, 05:18 AM
I can only dream of having this much talent as an artist. Zbrush allows you to bring great detail to your models and my goodness in such a short time this is software I will be checking into. I will greatly enjoy following this till the end. The recreation of the Orc General is stunning (I just watched ROTK a few days ago again ;))
04-03-2005, 11:54 AM
ok, you kick some ass!
long life to Z-brush.
you should put a link to your challenge, you are hard to find...

04-04-2005, 11:07 PM
Superbe! Je suis pas un fan des orcs mais c'est du boulot de pro...y a rien a redire. L'épée est superbe, comment tu l'as faite?
Décidement vas vraiment falloir que je me mette à z-brush... La 3D tout lisse c'est fini.
Je pense pas que t'en ai besoin mais je te souhaite bonne chance pour la suite! ;)

man.....no words    unbelievable!!! Another top notch update
04-09-2005, 02:23 PM
Do you want to say that you did it specially for competition?
Fro my side it looks like model made long time before, and now it's good moment to use it .
I say so, because the whole texture work is too good to be done in such short time.
Many projects submited here at CG are very old models made long time before competition:sad:
04-10-2005, 02:16 AM
no crits, top notch mate, looks awesome!
04-10-2005, 03:19 PM
04-12-2005, 11:30 PM
I choose here to modify the main angle of view, to focuse on the 2 characters. I think the 3rd character is not necessary anymore, so the action will be only with the master and the beast, focusing on these two.
I want to show the beast afraid by some powerful lights coming from the right. The servant (beast) then doesn't want to move on due to it, and the master is yelling at it, trying to push it, trying to move it forward through the light, with no success on this action capture.
The background is a secondary step to figure where the action is going. I think an old ruin, would add in the fantasy style i want to give.
I think the whole diagram can work, if each corners are around the main characters.
amazinngg again strike..
number 1.. hehe no chances..
best luck.. c ya !
04-13-2005, 12:49 AM
simply amazing work, keep it up!
04-13-2005, 02:46 AM
• Amazing ammount of work and details Jean! it is looking very good, but i see the legs of the rider a little short, or maybe it seems so because of his armor, anyway this is an excellent class of how to create good looking models
04-13-2005, 02:53 AM
strike .. awesome & inspiring
how many tools is this ?? ... is it all multimarked?? ... do you start with one tool and just keep adding ??
why don't you have a gnomon dvd ??
04-13-2005, 03:08 AM
Hi Strike! Nice composite! This angle of view is more dramatic, but you could totally show the characters... I don't know it's definitive, but I leave my suggestion here.;) Keep on going friend:thumbsup: Cya
that is some sweet modeling :buttrock: can't wait too see the final image  good luck!!!
04-13-2005, 03:58 AM
Wow !! Nice details, awesome modeling... Hurray Z-brush, no ?... :bounce:
Very good job ! Hope the rendering gonna be good as your modeling !
Keep it up man ! :buttrock: et encore bravo !
04-13-2005, 04:30 AM
Great details, and very expressive characters!!! :buttrock:
Good luck with texturing...
04-13-2005, 06:01 AM
extrodianary detail... excelent work
all the best for the piece... im commin back!!!
04-13-2005, 06:53 AM
i was just thinking that maybe his arms are to skinny... maybe abit more meat.
hehe his expression is rabit like... lol... kinda like an australian actor (wanker)
what details did u ahve in mind for the architecture in the background?
04-13-2005, 08:13 AM
Very very nice model strike... the composition is very nice and the focus on the two main characters is a good move... expanding it would take you away from the relationship between them...
04-13-2005, 08:42 AM
The amount of details is stunning already now. I am wordless. :)
04-13-2005, 08:43 AM
belle évolution de l'ensemble ,
vraiment très chouette !
the frazetta touch !
l'ensemble démonte bien et c vrai que l'orientation est plus dynamique !
bonne continuation !
et bonne chance !
may the force be with you !
french jedi !
in valiant heart nothing is impossible!
My Master and servant Challenge (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=223844)
04-13-2005, 09:08 AM
hi ! great modeling as always! i have some question , i see from zbrush manual that if I want good anti alias , i have to work twice resolution and scale them down, but z brush doc is limit around 4000 pixel , how can you set up the output and work flow?
04-13-2005, 10:15 AM
Master of insane details.. AM not the person who can give you crits, but i have a small comment. The new angle of view is just perfect for them. Maybe the lord could stick the monster with the pike. It can give a direct contact and relationship between them. And you can also add more dinamism to the lord. Have a nice day!
04-13-2005, 10:23 AM
Agree with tremoside, The lord needs a better pose, maybe more power or action in the arms.
the other minor thing that bugs me it's the horns in the Master's helmet, since they are upside down, makes him looks kind of shy.
anyway, superb modeling skills my friend!
excelent atention to details, a Master Piece in the making here!
04-13-2005, 10:37 AM
Great job. Exelent :applause:
04-13-2005, 12:13 PM
absolut strikeing great, love it , see you and
04-13-2005, 12:14 PM
Fantastic modeling on your beast creature, I love the folds and wrinkles in the flesh, and the amazing detail in the mouth. The master character is looking cool as well. Everything seems to be working, so good luck on the texturing. Alexi.
04-13-2005, 12:15 PM
Well this is fantastic mate!!
04-13-2005, 12:37 PM
i haven't checked you thread in a while, the piece is really coming together, the modelling looks great as a whole, quite powerful.
04-13-2005, 02:31 PM
Some stunning piece of mesh here... :applause: that come really impressive, congrats
04-13-2005, 02:41 PM
WOW! That is some of the most detailed modeling I think I have ever seen.:applause: I am truly not worthy! I think you just convinced me to get Zbrush and I just don't know it yet! Thanks. Keep up the great work.
04-13-2005, 04:56 PM
It reminds me a little bit orc from LOTR but your model is great!!!
04-13-2005, 05:43 PM
Noticed this thread only now:eek: . Knocks me over. Jealous.

Very impressive job !
04-13-2005, 09:13 PM
Here is a base for ruins environment. I textured it quickly in 2.5D to have an idea. I added some photoshop elements such as the clouds, and light to have an idea of the scene. Main color shame will be different.
04-13-2005, 09:18 PM
hi .::STRIKE::....fantastically done!....a sure winner in modeling and style:thumbsup:!.....cheers!
04-13-2005, 09:29 PM
Freaking brilliant... has a very tangible quality that's quite rare. Can't really come up with any sensible crits... just keep doing what you're doing.

OH MY GOD !! WHATS THIS??!... LET ME SEE.... A W E S O M E
Impossible to beat this!
Keep it on Master!
04-15-2005, 01:58 PM
man... what could I say that would be constructive here... I dunno realy... it all looks so perfect it even hurts a little bit  (ouch) ...so I'll just share a very subjective point of view. The two characters are just awesome, obviously. "But"... there's a "but"... (people throwing stones at me for even daring...:) ).... but... it' just me an my attraction for crowded environments... "is a few stones/ruins in the background enough to dress such awesome duo here ?" I mean, I'm pretty sure you're seeking for a good balance in there and probably don't want to saturate the whole frame with a bunch of things that would take the attention away from the characters... but I dunno... seeing such incredible work on the characters suddenly made me expect so much more from the surrounding elments.
Anyway... so far you do get my half of my vote for the overall quality of your work... the other half going to Comrade Sukhov and his amazing character.
Keep updating the good stuff !
Outstanding! but as said before your environment and composition have to live up to the characters and support the flow and direction of the piece. Looking forward to seeing more great work. Don't forget about the hand, unless thats cool with you.
04-15-2005, 06:46 PM
Man, you're killing me, man. But it's OK one day i'll be able to do the same quality. Awesome!
04-15-2005, 07:35 PM
really great work so far, keep it up, i think i should really buy Zbrush, a lot of people use it here:bounce:
04-19-2005, 10:57 AM
this is just totally WOW !!! Maybe just a little bit less light on the monster... only my humble opinion :)
04-19-2005, 11:19 AM
I like your characters.. Awesome work man :)
04-19-2005, 11:51 AM
What a nice job. It's an piece of art.
No more comment about your work.
04-19-2005, 02:54 PM
Rolhion, I just wanna a put another WOW! in your thread; I'm speechless, congrats!
04-19-2005, 03:08 PM
great modeling! the skin of the head is really nice
It's all coming together really well, the trial textures look pretty damn sharp to me. The only small crit would be maybe too much texturing, it makes the eye wander instead of giving real focus. But great work watching this develop now.
04-19-2005, 04:42 PM
Really made an impression with your work:thumbsup:, that type of illumination you go has to use? traditional or radiosidad :)
Vraiment super ton travail.. bonne chance... !!!
My master and Servant (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=229293&goto=newpost)
04-21-2005, 09:38 AM
Im trying to learn Z brush. I have a lot of tutorials, videotutorials, but the only thing Im able to do is to create normal map fot the surfaces like walls, rocks atc. But the real modeling of something makes me mad, because my brain dont want to adapt from 3ds max like programs to completly different system/philosophy of the creation and interface :(
04-23-2005, 10:41 PM
Great update Strike.. good texturing and perfect background
04-23-2005, 11:59 PM
Ok, I love your work, but I thought I would mention something about the horns. I am not sure if it was mentioned already, but since both the creature and the man have exactly the same horns and since they are both pointing the same way (down), it tosses my eyes right off your picture because I am trying to find that mysterious thing that they are pointing at. To Further add to this, the beast's hand is also pointing down/right, all the rinkles in the beasts skin is hanging and pointing down, the man's body is leaning forward/down and he is even looking and pointing downward to that same bottom right corner. Suggestions, maybe change the man's horns (direction, or type of horns themselves) and maybe change the direction of the creatures raised hand so that it's bent more and pointing down torwards the bottom left corner instead of straight down. This way, it will look like the beast just raised his hand and is now going to take another step forward and it will help balance the picture by countering that strong right bottom corner that everything is looking at.
Otherwise, fantastic work as usual! I can't wait to see what it will look like finished!
i cant wait for the next scary update:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
04-24-2005, 01:05 AM

04-29-2005, 02:55 PM
wow -this looks good!
one thing that I don't like is helmet of master. he looks ................funny....... he don't fit to the rest of the armor. I don't like him beacous he is to small, horns are to thin.
04-29-2005, 08:39 PM
• Damn! I guess we allready have a winner!
05-02-2005, 05:50 PM
Wow, hard to believe that it is 3D. Superb work.
05-03-2005, 04:11 PM
beautiful Job
you are a great zbrusheur:bounce:
05-07-2005, 10:56 PM
great stuff you got there.
If it was still possible, I would suggest adjusting the hand of the warrior a little tighter on his weapon -- specially cause of his facial expression -- hand could use a little more tension - to my opinion. Beast also could frown a little more on the eyes area.
Just an idea Love it anyway
05-08-2005, 11:19 AM
Just wanted to tell you I really like the modeling and the amount of details you put into it.

thanks for your reply to my Email, good to know you haven't been abducted by Aliens or so... we were all wondering how such great artwork wasn't finalized before dead line, sorry about the loss of your HD (that was containing the files of your challenge entry... what a bummer), picture's good enough looking the way it is to be judged by the jury if you ask me, sure hope they will take your entry into count anyway.
Keep doing the great stuff you do,
