View Full Version : Master and Servant 3D Entry: Artur Malczyk

03-22-2005, 08:36 AM
Artur Malczyk has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Challenge Page (

Latest Update: Modeling: more details... (

Thanks for your comments! I decided to make some more details around the roots, I will make more cracks on the texture. I don't want to have a sandy island... I prefer the dry desert mood... with some yellowish grass, but we will se how it develops... still not sure about my destination target:)
Tree will also be more detailed, it will have more sticks, etc. as Virtuoso adviced.

03-22-2005, 08:41 AM

03-22-2005, 10:44 PM (

And here it is... as you may remember my hand drawing is rather very, very poor:) But I hope that you get my idea. Now I will attack some 3d stuff. Probably will start with the islands themselve.

03-22-2005, 11:06 PM
Nice concept, glad to see that you will be in this challeng. The concept seems finilar to me, is it from a classical work of art?

03-22-2005, 11:17 PM
Nice concept. Good luck!

03-22-2005, 11:21 PM
Doesn't that just sum up our decade  You forgot to add a sofa from IKEA :)

Nice concept of the invisible master....

03-22-2005, 11:27 PM
hey arturro wellcome and good luck dude!!
c ya

03-22-2005, 11:42 PM
enochian - thanks friend, I took this idea from what I see around me:) No special inspirations or references, but the idea is quite popular as at simply is a true and real idea:shrug: that is the way the most of the world works

Abishai_ - thanks you!

3dRaven - yap, a small all in all of our sad world:) sofa from IKEA is a great idea:bounce: Maybe I will add some more symbols of our desires, not just gold.

D-3 - hi there mate! thanks for dropping by and good luck to you to.

03-23-2005, 01:32 AM
Thats a unique concept: man a slave to his own greed. Now I am waiting for someone to draw/create a cg person in front of thier computer for thier entry.

03-23-2005, 04:25 AM
Hi Arturro- cool to see you're in. Nice concept! So true...

03-23-2005, 07:05 AM
For what not ? that's a bit near to the gollum concept... :scream: but with more of one alone ring...
You can take the difference with your mood... that's important... take care to the framing... you can explore something very interesting...
Courage Artur

03-23-2005, 07:15 AM
interesting concept in making the "master" as an object of desire... looking forward to your progress

03-23-2005, 07:35 AM

03-23-2005, 02:33 PM
hello everybody! thanks for your comments:) I tried to think a bit more about my concept, but just wasted some time:shrug: so I stay with this one. Now I will attack a few beers in the pub, but later, or perhaps tomorrow(depending on how many beers:twisted: ) will start to model. So first updates soon...

03-23-2005, 03:15 PM
Interesting concept; looking forward to seeing more of it.

03-24-2005, 06:30 PM
nice start! I like it alot! Well good luck and keep it up! :)

03-24-2005, 08:04 PM
Thats a interesting concept Artur..............I can see quite a vivid and dramatic picture.Lots of potential for a beautiful and exotic piece,I can already picture a nice texture pallette for it..........It reminds me in a way of the old Pirates of the Carribean ride in Disneyland.....a certain section of it.......very nice concept and you know I'll be looking for more, best to you.....:arteest:

03-24-2005, 08:05 PM
Hey Arturro,

I really like your sketch , I like the nice shiny tempting red apple and the little bird . Nice touch , look forward to your progress.

03-24-2005, 11:27 PM
• Great concept Artur! Symbolism is all over the place, what does the apple and the bird mean?
• If the apple means Sin, maybe it would be cool if the island has its shape and the gold chains firmly attached to it

• If the bird means freedom, put it in another island, maybe in a closer plane ( what about one bird in all other islands?)

Just a couple of thoughts  I like it very much!

03-24-2005, 11:36 PM
interesting concept. you've set yourself a fair amount of work, too. good luck--i'll be checking up on you. ;)

03-25-2005, 12:54 AM
Thank you all for your replies!

Climax: I want the viewer to define what the apple and the bird are... that is the purpose:) In my eyes the apple is somethink unreachable, the man in the chains wants to get it, but the chains don't let him do so. He is trying to get it ,which is hardly noticeable on my poor sketch. The man is starving, so tha apple "shows" that money are not everything and that you cannot buy everything. The bird symbols freedom as you said. I will think about your idea concerning it. Thanks!

03-25-2005, 01:46 PM
I like your idea, it expresses the moral that if you are dependent on someone or something, no gold jewlery or other goods will bring you happiness... Good luck to you, I'll keep an eye on your progress...

03-25-2005, 07:02 PM

Hi Man you put an incredible idea in here!! :bounce::bounce::bounce:

Wow i love your conzept, and your painting is absolut great.
This will be my most favorite thread now!!

See U & best luck, chears

03-25-2005, 07:55 PM
Thanks for kind words! I had too much work now, and start modeling now... sory for delay, I hope to find more time for this one. I promise to show my island's first shape soon:bounce:

03-25-2005, 09:45 PM
...and start modeling now... Good news Artur

Island Island :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

03-25-2005, 11:32 PM
C'mon move that polar bear into gear winters over in Poland

03-26-2005, 02:29 AM (

Not much, but I'm doing my best with fighting the time.
It's just the first session with 3d max... It gives some more light on my idea. There will be much more roots, more small roots, some rocks... gold, jewlery and goods will be among the roots.

03-26-2005, 02:31 AM (

just another shot... And I also tried to make some nice mood with the lighting. I will try to reach the sunset mood. Sun sets as the life of the man on the island.

03-26-2005, 08:36 AM
hullo artur...ah..yes the models start some in:).....this is just the start right? no crits for u yet since its still the very begining :scream:

03-26-2005, 08:53 AM
hullo artur...ah..yes the models start some in:).....this is just the start right? no crits for u yet since its still the very begining :scream:

yap, it's very first part of modeling. Most of it will be changed, more detailed:) but feel free to crit this one:twisted:

03-26-2005, 09:01 AM
aah no :)....i ll just wait and move in for the bigger kill ......heheh im still wondering how to go about modeling my stuff...:D!

03-26-2005, 09:01 AM
Nice lighting. Gives it a very soft feel to it......I like  I'll particularly interested in how the water will come out <keeps fingers crossed>

03-26-2005, 09:07 AM
• Hey arturo! I got it! why don't u put a hot babe with the bear of your avatar drinking a beer in the island next door????........hmmm.....maybe not....:D
Just kidding pal! :scream: great jmodeling start! .......would u consider about the chick? :D

03-26-2005, 09:12 AM
HAhaha Good one Omar ...the hot babe would be more tempting than an apple any day

03-26-2005, 11:49 AM
hehe nice start on modeling but make this plants little thiner ? :D

03-26-2005, 12:23 PM
• Hey arturo! I got it! why don't u put a hot babe with the bear of your avatar drinking a beer in the island next door????........hmmm.....maybe not....:D
Just kidding pal! :scream: great jmodeling start! .......would u consider about the chick? :D

Yeah I'm all for the idea! :scream: But I'm sure whatever you come up with would look good.

03-26-2005, 12:50 PM
Hi guys... I must say that the idea with the ladies is quite temting for me:twisted: Maybe I will do one island with other kind of temptations for humans.. not gold or jewlery:bounce: We will se how time will let me do it. But on the main island I want my apple to show not only temptations, greed, but also that you cannot buy everything. Thanks for your interest!
darko: you're right, the roots are too visible. Will work on that:)

03-26-2005, 01:29 PM
Hey Arturro,
NIce start to the modeling, I agree with Darko , I think the roots that are 4 or 5 feet away from the base of the tree should be smaller . Presently they are the same size as the roots at the base of the tree. Keep at it.

03-26-2005, 01:30 PM
Hi Arturro,
Good to see you back for another challange  Your off to a good start keep it up and good luck to you with this one. Hope you find the right settings for you sunset.

Maybe it would help if you added all of the models to the scene before you try to set up the lighting? Just a thought.

see  you

03-26-2005, 04:39 PM
mmoir: thanks mate, I'm working now on some updates:) hope to show something better soon

blackdragoncg: yap, time for the lighting will come with all the models, taht's true. But I couldn't stop myself:twisted: you know... it's this sttae when you wan't to do everything:) I was even close to start texturing the island. But fortunately I cooled down a bit.

03-26-2005, 04:59 PM

great island so far.. I like the style on the tree, however, all the roots appear to have the same width, vary it up al little and pick maybe 2 or 3 roots to have really thick roots, and the rest medium to small.
great lighting btw

03-26-2005, 05:15 PM
ahhh! lovely island Artur. cute start. clusters of rocks and grass will be perfect for that island...just a suggestion. you're still the master! ;)

03-26-2005, 05:36 PM
yep, looks fine so far, i like story behind the concept and the way you visualize it a lot.
as others already mentioned, the roots are a bit thick yet.(just a click on vers-selectionmode local z-axistweak, lets say 0.2 mins :P lol, you might already know)

are you going to work wich irradiance/GI? sunsetmood can be easy achieved by just placing a map with the color around the scene...

i am very curious how you're going to handle the caustics (water IS painfull).

interesting work here, keep it up, best luck and loadsa fun

03-26-2005, 06:39 PM
Hey Arturro! Good luck and I liked your concept so far. Im gonna be watching you :bounce:

03-26-2005, 06:54 PM
Nice start, but I was looking on your sketch and this model and I think that roots are too fat, this makes island looks very small and trunk looks very thin. Make roots more thin or stretch trunk and island (this should save a little work). Mayby you thinking of it, but I said that just in case.

03-26-2005, 11:00 PM
Thank you all very much for your comments. I will try your advice. Now I'm doing some tests with water... I wanted to attack a water shader:twisted: I will show you my results within an hour... stay tuned

03-26-2005, 11:03 PM
Wow your coming along!!!

REally crits here

03-26-2005, 11:39 PM
did u consider little displace on a sea-ground? (and on an island ground too... maybe)

03-26-2005, 11:55 PM
thanks guys!

kru: this what you see there is a bottom of the ocean:) the surface will appear in a short time. I'm rendering now a version with the shader. The island of course will be dispaced more. But give me some time:) now stay tuned for the update

03-27-2005, 12:39 AM (

I leaft the tree for now... Will start with it from the beginning, with different technique. I must be careful about the polycount of the roots, brcause with the grass, stones, etc it will probab;y crash:)

I did some changes to the geometry, but still more to come. The bottom of the ocean will be probably like that. Shader of the ocean is close to the one I want. Now I will probably tweak it just during lighting. But if you have any ideas, please shoot me.

I will add more diference in the depth, so that there are more darker areas, now it's not too deep:) I think it will look nice with the lighten areas around the islands in the background.

03-27-2005, 12:42 AM (

Ok, here are other shots. As you see on the sketch the islands are small, they are symbols, so in this matter they won't look real. But I will try to get most real effect as I can. But it is possible that in the middle I will turn into more cartoony style of my scene.. what do you think?

03-27-2005, 02:25 AM
Nice water effect

03-27-2005, 06:19 AM
I'm out for Easter for 2 days, so next update will appear on tuesday's night:) After this I hope to sit more on this scene... So many of you are almoust finishing and I'm still on a very beginning:bounce:

so happy Easter for those who celebrate it, and have a good time in general for everybody:buttrock:

03-27-2005, 06:48 AM
great water you got there arturro, see you and

03-27-2005, 08:21 AM
Hey arturro, That looks awsome man  looking forward to more dude! I would love to learn more about how you did that eh :buttrock:

03-27-2005, 08:40 AM
im very impressed.. and this is your first attempt at water?

wicked dude... it looks really good..

03-27-2005, 08:52 AM
Happy easter Arturro...I'm gonna have guests over this easter, so till then I can render

03-27-2005, 06:57 PM
Hi Artur,
Thats some nice looking water you have there . Good job.

03-27-2005, 07:09 PM
Great water.
I'm in opossite situation when Easter ends I must back to study , and I will have not so much time as now.

03-27-2005, 07:14 PM
great mate! :) water is rocking big time... see ya in 2 days ! :bounce:

Mysterious X
03-27-2005, 07:15 PM
great concept and keep it thing..the water color suggests something from 2 to 5 ft of depth only..if you could darken the water a little bit

03-27-2005, 07:33 PM
hi Artur ! the ocean shader looks cool...but have some ideas :) .......since the horizon is not straight it looks like an adrupt cut off like when a wave rises above horizon(btw is this what u wanted).....some might say the waves look too patterned but here in maldives we get those kind of shallow patterns all the time :) !...but u might wanna smooth out the tiny bumps as the waves get father away from the camera...

nice work..keep it happening  !

03-27-2005, 08:09 PM
the close up water looks fantastic, but i agree with yunisirees--the horizon looks too close, and usually by the time the sea meets the horizon, it looks like a straight line. of course, it does say rendering _test_ ;) ...

03-27-2005, 10:19 PM
Yep not deep enough, but this is an early version so I suppose you'll fix that :). Anyway the water is perfect. You can almost feel the texture, very clean water :). So keep it up.

P.S. can't wait to see the shader of the island.

03-28-2005, 03:48 AM
nice sunny island!
But aren't waves too big comparing to the island?
Or it should be little one?

my MASTER/&/servant XXX (

03-28-2005, 03:52 AM
nice water man , looks calm :applause:

03-28-2005, 05:16 AM
thats a very cool render , makes me want to go and just swim there. :)

03-28-2005, 07:33 AM
Looking very good man, no c&c from me right now!

Keep going!

03-28-2005, 09:10 AM
Nice water effect

DITTO....amazing ...waiting for more .:bounce:

03-28-2005, 09:55 AM
Nice concept and the updates look good. keep it up...

~ Rrr

03-28-2005, 08:41 PM
Hi there my friend! I's been a quite long time:) I wasn't fery happy not to see any of your works since GSO here, but good to see you here this time. Nice idea, and truly amazing water shader. I can imagine many islands like taht with these colors of ocean around them, and a bit darker further from them. I'm with you this time as well, so keep the work up! I'm waiting for next rockin' updates:buttrock:

03-28-2005, 10:24 PM
Hi Artur, nice seeing you in here. I like your concept, it could very well be the most symbolic and artistic concept I have seen so far. Nice. And the water is great too. Not that into where the water meets land...looks odd. But rendering test means...well, testing. So you´ll probably solve that very well. I know.

Good luck, and have fun.

03-28-2005, 10:55 PM
• Hello Artur, I was just having fun about the girl :) I know you know but now u r totally sure :p, Keep going my friend, I like how this is begining to get form!

03-29-2005, 06:40 AM
that become more and more interesting... :wip:

03-29-2005, 08:58 AM
That's start very good... beautiful water Artur, congratulation

03-29-2005, 03:43 PM
Hi there all masters & servants:)
thanks for your comments! I'm back at home finally, and will start modeling soon. Some updates hopefully in the night todaty.

Some wrote about horizon.. there is no horizon yet:) It's only a water shader test. But thanks for pointing this out, I'll be careful about it.

The scale fo the waves will be chacked/corrected when all models will be on the island. Remember that it's unnaturaly small island:)

Stay tuned! I'll check other threads later.. hope that noone finished while I was out:twisted:

03-29-2005, 03:47 PM
Hi arturro!!:wavey:

Nice work, i like the concept, and the water texture is amazing!!!
Look really nice!
I'm waiting to see update!!

Keep it up!!

03-29-2005, 03:55 PM
Nice to see you back Arturro...thats some refreshing water you got there..wating till the islands get some green

03-29-2005, 06:15 PM
Great looking water there. Slight noticible pattern but good colors. Interesting idea. I will be watching to see how it turns out. Good to see you back as well my friend. :)

03-29-2005, 06:49 PM
Nice water! Maybe it's a bit noisy but I think it's just a test yet. Good luck!

03-29-2005, 06:55 PM
cool !!

i like the water !!
waiting to see more.. c ya !

03-29-2005, 07:30 PM
• Hello is that update??

03-29-2005, 08:48 PM
Looking very good, some distance fog would really show alot of depth to the scene.

03-29-2005, 09:14 PM
Hi Artur......Time to take a dive.....Is that dreamscape water?looks very nice,I like the transparent look, the see through look is just the right thing for wter such as this......I'll be watching for more, keep it coming Artur....:arteest:

03-29-2005, 09:18 PM
Thanks for your comments guys! It really helps to know that someone is watching:)

Virtuoso: I don't have dreamspace unfortunately. It's hand made water:) glass lume shader in mental ray. It's based on the Jeff Patton's ( tutorials. He is my mental ray guru:twisted:

Now workin' on the tree. Hope to show you something soon...

03-30-2005, 06:26 AM
Look good Arturro. If it was only a little warmer I'd be swimming by now! :bounce: Claireabella

03-30-2005, 12:36 PM
[witam pieknie]
greetings arturro!
nice. very nice. water looks good, especially at the bottom of the ocean. i don't know the scale you want your island to look (so this can be helpful for you), but it looks about a meter wide. it makes me think that becouse of the soft ripples of the ocean.
what do you think arturro?

03-30-2005, 05:15 PM (

Ok... I worked a bit more on that tree... The big "bumps" on the ground stands for the roots which are just beneatch the ground. It will be more visible with teh displacement map on the ground and on the roots. More details I will add during texturing now... I wan't dry sand, dry yellowish grass and some rocks...

I will rethink the scale of those elemetns when I will do a character.. now it's hard to say if this is too big or too small.

03-30-2005, 05:17 PM (

other shots...

03-30-2005, 05:20 PM (

and the last one....

tomorrow I wan't to finish modeling of the island, so add an aplle:) grass and rocks... And start texturing because it all looks a bit strange without much detailed displacement map.

hi Arturo,
those water renders reminds of vacation...aaahg...can't help it. :D
i think the grass and rocks will define the scale of your elements. the tree looks really mighty, you can scale that a little upward. just a thought. :) keep up

03-30-2005, 05:28 PM
Really nice water! "hand made water:) glass lume shader in mental ray" ... perhaps after the challenge you could explain how you did it? Looks very good - and so does your island. Keep going like this and you have a beautiful final just like GSO

03-30-2005, 06:03 PM
Nice water effect ! arturo, and good modeling too , what technic do u use to render water!

03-30-2005, 06:07 PM
wow .. great modelll !!

dont stop !!
c ya !

03-31-2005, 01:11 PM
Hi all, thakns for your comments! Will discuss something about the models when more of them appears on the island. now it's hard to say something about it..

As the water is concerned it's mental ray material. I will write more details with some print screens about it, hope to do it soon... The importand thing is the bottom of the ocean, it must be there! The second importand thing is the environment and lighting, the colors are not only defined by the shader, but mostly by the environment. I'm useing ksylight with gradient map for tests. But will do skydome in the final fersion to define sunset's conditions more precisely.

03-31-2005, 02:27 PM
very nice so far my friend... keep on it and you will have a great result...

03-31-2005, 06:40 PM
crazy tree my friend. Looks promising, but strange without the displacement. So I will wait with my crits for the textured version with displacement details.

Keep the good work up, and maybe speed up a bit!

03-31-2005, 06:52 PM
wow i see a tree !! :bounce:

it looks scarry. i thought you want to do nice apple-tree, that lures island's citizen. this looka more like baobabs from little prince!
was this your intention?

03-31-2005, 07:57 PM
hey artur.your moel looks nice.....
nice concept and it;s well detailed
i'm forward it to see the final:thumbsup:

03-31-2005, 08:32 PM
Very nice tree model , I think it could be a little taller but that is just my opinion. Stretch it a bit and see what it looks like. Look forward to the textures

03-31-2005, 08:41 PM
hey mate!....nice updates i see :) ! crits on the tree....damn nice ! actually we have real stuff like those in our islands!....if u want some reference pictures just pm me! more then happy to help a friend!:)

03-31-2005, 08:49 PM
icedeyes, kmest: thanks for kind words!

graga, mmoir: thanks friends, more to crit and something to be changed only with the displacement maps and some more stuff on the island... now it's hard to say what to change:) but I started working on the textures, so a few days and we will see!

kru: it was a freestyle session with modeling:) but I wanted a dangerous effect. Because I want's my "hero" to be imprisoned by the roots... some deeper metaphore...

yunisirees: my friend... I would be really greatful for some references!! I've googled for some tree's photos, but the result was quite poor...

03-31-2005, 09:11 PM
wow, that tree really looks great!

03-31-2005, 09:49 PM
one more thing... can you tell me how you did this tree? As I'm a beginner it's not a stupid question for me:) but probably the answer is obvious. I mean did you simply model all of this? all those small sticks, etc.? or there are some clever ways to do it?

03-31-2005, 10:27 PM
great work, loking forward for texture, see you and

03-31-2005, 11:12 PM
Mordalles, alex.h.: thanks guys!

graga: well... I just started with a cylinder, converted it to editable poly and moved the vertices:) cut, extrude... nothing specioal... Only the smallest sticks are a different scater object. There is on estick and lots of instance copies of it with diferent scale and rotation. Scatter objects were converted to editable poly as well and then corrected... some sticks were there, where I didn't like them:)

04-01-2005, 12:43 AM
That tree is coming out straight trippin... :P Very nice work Artur, keep at it man, you know your thing.. :)

04-01-2005, 06:05 AM
Héhé... your tree remain me someting...:scream: hahaha... anyway, good work Artur, I like it

04-01-2005, 04:17 PM
||) |V| |^|: thanks mate!Lemog: hope that it reminds something funny:) laugh is health as they say:bounce:

hope to show something soon...

04-01-2005, 06:11 PM
your efforts are bringing you fantastic results.. v.good modelling

ps. sorry about my false news, it's April fools ;p

04-01-2005, 06:16 PM
Nice work on the tree Arturro.....don't know why but that last shot reminds me of the game Populous 3 :). The thick branches seem a little too big compared to the smaller ones though.....maybe try playing with the push modifier with minus values and test what it looks like on a diet......keep the progress coming

04-01-2005, 10:44 PM
thanks mates! I will correct the scale of the elements when the island will have more elements. Now I wanted to texture the tree... but no idea how to unwrap it in a clever way:) not to spend hours on it... any ideas?

04-01-2005, 10:55 PM
It already has movement in it. There is something unsettling about the image already. look forward to seeing it develop.

04-01-2005, 11:24 PM
Arturro I guess you could go for face mapping?? And then tweak areas.....just an idea

04-02-2005, 08:25 AM
come on you lazy dude:bounce: show us something:twisted:

04-02-2005, 10:55 AM
Thanks guys... I managed to unwrap my crazy tree, and start texturing it. I also made an apple:) but it would look funny if I showed only an apple as an update:bounce: Hope to texture the tree and the top part of the island today. Thanks to some photos of tropical islands from yunisirees this process will be much easier and will be a great pleasure! You will be an expert in judgeing my results yunisirees! thanks again bro!

stay tuned & thanks for your support!

04-02-2005, 10:59 AM
nice model of the tree dude, could do with your help on my background...

04-02-2005, 11:21 AM

The tree and environment look great ;)

Hey Arturro,
Your tree is coming along fine, I am really looking forward to the textures and displacement that you talked about doing .
I agree the world did lose a great man in the Pope.

04-03-2005, 10:44 PM
Hey arturro, man ur going a gr8 job here. From ur concept i can tell theres a lot of works there. and as far as u modeled, its looking really good. Spacially i like ur lighting, i can only imagine how the end product will look like.. keep up the good works my freind

04-04-2005, 12:28 PM

I'm back in action now, and this night will upload some new updates.

Thanks that you don't stop supporting me:buttrock:

04-05-2005, 10:37 PM
Hey arturro! Good to see you in another challenge!

Your work so far is looking very good, as always! You seem to be adapting well to the shorter time frame in which to complete, so hopefully you will get an awsome picture finished and be in the running for some goodies.

Keep it up :bounce:

04-05-2005, 10:42 PM
Yeah the pope... strange days... anyway good to see your getting underway.. now about those updates... :)

04-06-2005, 01:03 AM (

First try to make dry tree, sweet apple and nice island:) it's the very wip test...

04-06-2005, 01:06 AM (

First try to make dry tree, sweet apple and nice island:) it\\\'s the very wip test...

04-06-2005, 01:07 AM
Hey Artur,
I like the textures you have done, maybe just a little more grass, this could be modeled though. Going to look good with the water around it.

04-06-2005, 01:12 AM
There is no grass my friend yet:) the green areas are only places where I want to make particle grass...

thanks for a reply!

04-06-2005, 01:15 AM
Hi artur.....Looks nice....good to see you continue......I could only suggest you add smaller tendrils....or tiny branches along with thes.....kind of of shoots from the main ones.....

Ok good to see you back creating....keep it coming.....

04-06-2005, 01:16 AM
Arturro I like your idea for this challenge, its unique. I have been skipping around looking at all the other entries, but not posting (except for DMW). Yours just caught my eye and I had to say something.

Keep up the great work!

04-06-2005, 03:37 AM
Nice update what you did with the the island going to have a beach where it meets the water?? Guess you'd have to add in another blend mask around the edges and a new texture...

04-06-2005, 05:49 AM
Nice update arturo.. the texture on the tree looks nice but since it's an island, i think that there shouldn't be so many cracks in the sand texture (with all the water and moisture and stuff)... Anyway.. looks very good... keep us posted man:scream:....

04-06-2005, 06:06 AM
Oh yeah Artur, very nice work on these textures... maybe more grass if there's a lot of water... but dry is good too, it's your choice... good continuation guy

04-06-2005, 09:53 PM
hi Artur....the texturing is coming out real nice...:)

04-07-2005, 01:45 AM (

Thanks for your comments! I decided to make some more details around the roots, I will make more cracks on the texture. I don't want to have a sandy island... I prefer the dry desert mood... with some yellowish grass, but we will se how it develops... still not sure about my destination target:)
Tree will also be more detailed, it will have more sticks, etc. as Virtuoso adviced.

04-07-2005, 02:04 AM
this is looking great arturro..the idea of the textures is great .. lets see it..

04-07-2005, 08:43 AM
Wow.. great first pass on the textures! Those came out really nice, even if they are 'very wip' as you said :)

Keep it going! :buttrock:

04-07-2005, 08:59 AM
very very nice..
I think make the branches more sharper angled, and not so smoothly curved as it stands now.. otherwise it's sweeet ;p

04-07-2005, 10:53 AM
Nice detail sculpting arturro...can't wait till this blends in with the texture setup

04-09-2005, 08:12 AM
wow nice, i really like the tree and the island, keep it up:)

04-09-2005, 10:03 AM

nice progress so far... I like the island textures. What`s Up arturro did you decide to do some desolated pic after your crowded one for GSO :) Great work... keep going

04-09-2005, 10:17 AM
great tex so far. I love the dry cracks. they are procedrural, aren't they?

04-10-2005, 08:43 AM
Hi everybody! well, it's rather not a lucky challenge for me:) too much work:shrug: But I hope to finish it somehow, and to finish my island today:twisted:

Neeno, Nekura, 3dRaven, Jelmer: thanks guys very much!

Versiden: great idea mate! I knew that something about this tree is not right... more harder angles needed...

theuni: yap, a bit of isolation after my crowded battle:) to big haos was there, now it's time to rest in paradise

grooshka: nop man, cracks are my wacom's creation:) I tried to do them with procedurals, it even worked, but I want to make my own cracks... I mean I want to control exactly where they are.

04-10-2005, 09:51 AM
its getting great arturro, love trees.see you and

04-10-2005, 10:02 AM
Looking goood arturro:thumbsup: keep it up , good work mate!!

04-11-2005, 12:36 AM
Nice details man.. I will be waiting for the new cracks and twigs... keep at it :wip:

04-12-2005, 11:07 PM
When's the next update?

04-12-2005, 11:12 PM
sorry but I had some comercial work to do... you know, something for living:) But will do something this week definitely, time is running out, and I'm still on the very beginning...

04-13-2005, 12:20 AM
We will go the finish together community award brother ;) ...right to the end.....It's more fun like that.....;) :p .......I'll be looking for your progress Artur.....:arteest:

04-15-2005, 07:27 AM
Hej do roboty  [get to work :deal:]

Come on Artur we wanna see some updates.....hope the comercial work doesn't stop you from finishing the challenge.

04-21-2005, 09:28 AM
arturro, I´ve seen your work, and it is awesome, the concept is kind of sad but it is strong.
And well, I was wondering how you did the water, it looks perfect!
You have modeled the sea floor, haven´t you?
Maybe you have commented this already and I have missed it.

04-24-2005, 07:25 PM
I have had things like illness keep me from doing much work..but I have high hopes of getting some stuff dones... hopefully you will too... it was a great idea! But I understand the $$$$ thing... GL with that!

04-26-2005, 03:21 PM

Your idea is good, i like yours model, but not understand the last model

forward bye

05-17-2005, 07:18 AM
Nice water effect...but looks like you had to devote your time to your paid work. I can certainly understand that! I enjoyed seeing this much of it though. Looked cool and surrealistic.
