Hi. I've got I few ideas about this chalange. At this time that is my favotite. I'm not very proud with my english. Thats why I'll let the picture speak about itsefl :)

03 March 2005, 04:10 PM
Great start! I like the composition thus far and how the master is obviously larger then the servent. Or is it the other way around? :)

03 March 2005, 04:43 PM
yep impressive start!

03 March 2005, 08:36 AM
I hope so. I've got some update. You all will see it soon.:)

03 March 2005, 12:05 PM
i will subscribe to ur thread.

03 March 2005, 12:07 PM
Nice image. I will be watching this one!

03 March 2005, 12:22 PM
tehehehe - I can see I'll like this concept - good idea too

03 March 2005, 12:25 PM
Oooo, the concept looks wonderful. An excellent take on the whole master/servant theme - I can't quite tell what she's doing though (I suspect I will in later sketches!) Is she polishing a scythe?

03 March 2005, 01:01 PM
Yes, Enayla. You are on the right way. The nun is whiting the scythe in front of her strict masters eye. There are some problem with the composition at this level of sketching which must be fixed!

See ya

03 March 2005, 01:18 PM
oh my oh my...this is going to be a kickass concept - pretty different from most.
Awesome - I really like how the sketch is shaping up

03 March 2005, 01:32 PM (

03 March 2005, 01:34 PM
There's a lot of energy in this! Great sketchwork!

03 March 2005, 01:40 PM
Hi Velinov, was looking forward to see you enter.

To me, that is a big heavy iron cannonball chained to the servants foot. I'm on needles to see where this is going. Alright, I'll check back later. Good luck!

03 March 2005, 01:46 PM
looking great,i love how the throne is coming along!!

03 March 2005, 01:50 PM

Yes, it is :) That was the idea. I'm happy that even on this level of drawing it is obvious that the cannonball is as big as her sins. :buttrock:

03 March 2005, 04:07 PM
Geat dinamics on the sketch, very powerfull. the guy looks a little like doctor doom (maybe because of the coat and the chain) be carefull not to get the colors alike or it will resemble him a lot. looking forward for color.

03 March 2005, 04:10 PM
Looks fantastic.... the nun looks very nice. What a lovely scythe.

I'm gonna keep on looking in here... f'sure...

(And i just wanted to add that i really liked 'DancingBlade', particularly the mark-making and style... i'll be interested to see how you approach colour on this image)

03 March 2005, 04:28 PM (

This is my final sketch. Hire comes the lovely part...color:)

03 March 2005, 04:38 PM
Love it. Great concept, and I really like your lines - the angular style reminds me a bit of Kev O'Neil. Plus, you can see her pants!

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

03 March 2005, 05:00 PM
Wow. I like your sketch art. Not so shure about the switching of the of the direction she is sitting in. I kind of like the flow when she was facing out but you know go with what works for you.

03 March 2005, 05:05 PM
This sketch is going pretty good. I can't wait to see some color added to it.

03 March 2005, 05:24 PM
lovely artwork

finish finish finish,colour colour colour!!

03 March 2005, 05:24 PM
Oi, Velinov, extremely good sketch you got there! :)

I can't wait to see the colors now...

03 March 2005, 05:32 PM
Very, very tasty! This is coming along very nicely. I'm definately diggin' those crazy boots!

Keep it up!

03 March 2005, 05:35 PM
I hope that you will thing the same when I post some colors here. Thanks for encouraging words.

03 March 2005, 05:40 PM

I like it a lot, and strong lines too....i will a pleasure see it with color!

Keep the good work

Amazing! The whole idea isnt new, I mean "monster"-master and human servant, but the fact that your master is death and your servant is a nun, this contrast is just amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I kinda like it so much. What I like too is his bone-feet and his long cigarette. Just enjoying this. My fav thus far (after my own idea of yourse:twisted: )

Oh boy this is gonna be COMPETITION!!! Im freaked! Keep em coming man!

03 March 2005, 08:06 PM
I am looking forward to see your work when finish.
good luck!

03 March 2005, 09:25 PM
Oh yes, I am definately subscribing to this thread!
Great sketchs so far; can't wait to see some color.

03 March 2005, 09:29 PM
I love how that long scythe blade just cuts through the composition. Ouchies! Eagerly waiting the colorness!

03 March 2005, 10:44 PM
Amazing! The whole idea isnt new, I mean "monster"-master and human servant, but the fact that your master is death and your servant is a nun, this contrast is just amazing! Amazing! Amazing!

That's Death? I thought it was Hunter S. Thompson or maybe the Devil. I could see either of them with a goat head throne, but Death is kind of a bore. The boots and the cigarette holder are badass! Love it.

03 March 2005, 10:53 PM
Wow, I'm really liking this! Very cool idea. Never thought about sticking a nun and Death together... And I must say that's the sexiest nun I've ever seen lol.

My only comment is that I couldn't really tell what the nun was doing right away. The scythe didn't read a scythe until I looked closer and thought about it. I think it's because the handle is hidden behind everything... This may all work a lot better in color, though..

Can't wait to see it finished up!

03 March 2005, 10:56 PM
I like the concept but don't think it needs the panty shot. You've got a great design, spot on draftsmanship and an interesting composition but the panty shot - in this context- kind of cheapens the concept for me.

03 March 2005, 11:13 PM
dude, the nun's cross is upside down!

03 March 2005, 11:17 PM
great stuff!!

03 March 2005, 12:44 AM
This is looking interesting, I like you're style... I'm stoked to see where this goes. Cheers.

03 March 2005, 12:52 AM
Really nice concept. I especially like how the nun is eyeballing the scythe.
I'm looking forward to seeing this one splashed with some color. You have the skills amigo.

03 March 2005, 08:47 AM
Hi. Thanks for the crits. I thing that to all your questions could be given some answers if you are right with me during the development process of the image. I really love that theme and it is to be like a fish in the water...:)

Take a look at some old picture I was create in the middle of 2004. Cheers

PS. I have begun to coloring, so wait for some colors from me.

03 March 2005, 08:51 AM
Oh wow! I hadn't seen this one. Looking fantastic!

I'd leave the panty peek in there ... it's not overly offensive and fits the character perfectly. I'm loving the contrasting imagery also. The nun & Death is brilliant.

I didn't understand what she was doing at first either. Maybe a little more of the handle could be shown and that would be enough to explain what she's holding.

03 March 2005, 10:43 AM

hahhaa yeh that cud confuse people, looks like she scrubbing sumthin else if u know what i mean.

that'll be sumthin to watch out for.

03 March 2005, 10:48 AM
That concept really rocks and theres a lot of energy in it!!!the lady ,supersexy,ha,ha!!!
Wandering if death gave it a try,LOL!!!
I'll sure take a seat here and watch the show!!
Good luck and especially loads of fun!!!

03 March 2005, 11:48 AM
hi Velinov
a very interesting start, your style on geometry shows us it'll be a good composition.
and i liked your oriental style ...good luck....

03 March 2005, 02:11 PM (

My first post with some colors added.

03 March 2005, 02:30 PM
that looks excellent!! keep goin!

03 March 2005, 03:34 PM
really like where this is going, nice work

03 March 2005, 03:37 PM
Naughty nun helping Death. How cool is that! Not really sure about the cowboy boots and cigarr, but it could turn out to be a fun twist for the Deaths look.
Good luck!

03 March 2005, 03:51 PM
I love the playfulness of this work! Death's hand hovering behind the nun is extremely sinister... excellent! :) The skulls coming together nicely as well...

03 March 2005, 03:56 PM
looking very nice. good luck to you!

03 March 2005, 03:58 PM
Oooh... colours are good.

And i love the 'Death' medallion and cowboy boots. I'd defintely keep the hint of white knickers on the nun. After all... the judges are all male... ;)

My only crit is the scythe. I'm not sure about the angle/perspective in realtion to the handle. Colours will probably help resolve it, but at the moment it just looks a bit 'off'...

Still a cracking piece and one of my favourites (i'll have to tell you about my 'nun' dream i had when i was 14!!)

03 March 2005, 04:07 PM
work started yet but it really seems effective...i'm curiousing that what kind colors will you chose....because without colors it's good....

03 March 2005, 05:06 PM
Excellent...This contest just started and your work already looks this good?! I think the standards are higher than on the GSO challenge. Your work and Linda Bergkvist's work are just awesome...I think I prefer yours. You probably don't need advice...but try to keep the's great.

03 March 2005, 05:13 PM
Hi, Super starting, the class, good luck for the continuation.

03 March 2005, 05:13 PM
Thanks Andreas. I'll keep that advise on my mind. Definitely that color scheme is one of my fav. I'll Try to keep it like that. :)

03 March 2005, 05:28 PM
dude, the nun's cross is upside down!

It's INVERTED! Devil stuff!! :bounce:

To me, it looks like you're merging the characters of Satan and Death. The scythe and the bony knees are Death's but the idea of sin, the inverted cross, the skimpy nun's uniform and the goat's head are symbols of Satan. This might be due to a cultural difference, but I think of them as separate characters with the Devil being evil and Death being "morally ambiguous".

03 March 2005, 05:55 PM
I defiantly like the colours your using, it will really give it mood later on when you do more

03 March 2005, 06:09 PM
Fantastic looking piece so far. Nice composition and great colour. I hope you continue to keep the traiditional look going with this.

03 March 2005, 07:10 PM
Wow : there is one of the contest's big guys here !
Great start, and stunning watercolor texture.
I'll watch your thread.
Good luck.

03 March 2005, 07:56 PM
Love that HOT nun! This is going to be a great one! You have such a great style, complete mastery of line and great color sense.

03 March 2005, 09:40 PM
I really like what I'm seeing so far. The colours you've chosen greatly compliment the concept you're going with. Can't wait for the next installment!

03 March 2005, 09:50 PM
Color scheme looks great; never noticed Death's cowboy boots before. :D

I still think the scythe needs to be positioned differently; it's still kinda hard to tell what it is at the current perspective.

03 March 2005, 10:02 PM
So original..And what a technique..I like very much the death(?)'s foots..

03 March 2005, 11:26 PM
Unbelievable concept so far. The cowboy boots and cigarette are great, as are the little details like the upsidedown cross. Most people seem to like the nuns panties, but I think that a more conservative rendering of the nun would increase the tension- instead of a standard "naughty nun", one would wonder if she is an innocent that has been corrupted by the irresistable charisma of the ultimate evil, or a captive being held against her will. Also, I love how the hand looks like it is deciding whether to storke the nuns hair or snap her neck. I can't wait to see what you do with this image.

03 March 2005, 11:38 PM
cool work, the nun character is amazing.

03 March 2005, 11:40 PM
Colours look great! Very excited to see where this goes..!

03 March 2005, 03:50 AM
beautiful work, can't waite to see more

03 March 2005, 09:01 AM
Beautiful line work, concepts and now colour blocking... absolutely can't wait to see the image progress... an early front runner for sure!

03 March 2005, 09:21 AM
man, another good picture I found where someone has an amazing compistion. Errrrr, gotta work harder lol.

03 March 2005, 12:05 PM
What a SWEET concept! And you sketches are way cool! I can't wait to see what comes of this.

03 March 2005, 12:19 PM
This is looking very sweet! Can't wait for more updates! :bounce:

03 March 2005, 12:22 PM
Looking good!

Mmmm, half naked nuns. :applause:

03 March 2005, 12:32 PM
Yohooo, this is friggin awesome man! what a cool concept! I love the piece so far especially the nun, great great great.

I'll be keeping my eye out for this one, good luck and have fun!

03 March 2005, 12:34 PM

03 March 2005, 01:59 PM

03 March 2005, 02:07 PM
Wow really nice drawing !!
Excellent style colours and characters !

03 March 2005, 02:18 PM (

My last update.

03 March 2005, 02:24 PM
Holy crap! I love the cloth rendering on Death. Wow!

03 March 2005, 03:08 PM
yeh u got sum great folds in there!

03 March 2005, 03:09 PM
Wow, it's looking amazing! Just step up the value contrast, I think. You're probably going to do that anyway.

03 March 2005, 03:14 PM
What else to add for now, than it's perfect ?

You definetily have it ! Another masterpiece to come...

03 March 2005, 03:36 PM
simply amazing! i love the "water color" feel of your image !

03 March 2005, 04:00 PM
Wonderful! It's a dark subject, but the elments of humour make it come to life so well! Cowboy boots and a cigarette holder on Death! :D

03 March 2005, 04:00 PM
Didn't know the Grimm Reaper was a pimp! But it all good. Great start Velinov.

03 March 2005, 04:02 PM
Unbelievably great techniqe! I cant believe that I found ur thread just now, so late. And I see that Im not the only one thinking about death as a master. But yea.. it cant compare to ur piece at the moment. No crits man, just a deep bow from me to u for that style

03 March 2005, 04:11 PM
For me is a big plesure to take that compliment from you. Thank you very mych.

03 March 2005, 04:30 PM
Hey Velinov - I'm really loving this concept - your fabric folds are downright breath taking! I cannot wait to see the final product! Lighting, different materials, everything is on right now. Completely inspiring.

03 March 2005, 05:26 PM
very good concept with a realisation very good, I like the used graphic style and the none is very nice, begin extremely prometeur check:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

03 March 2005, 07:58 PM
The compositon is very straight on, but the design of the characters and your skill with cloth is so strong I can't really make the composition a criticism as much as a suggestion.

Outstanding work so far.

Gunstar Hero
03 March 2005, 08:13 PM
Really liking this pic, especially the unique detail choices i.e the cowboy boots and hunter s. thompson style cigarette.

Can't wait to see the pic with the highlights later.

03 March 2005, 08:26 PM
Pretty damn nice! Loving everthing so far, superb composition, poses, mood, value, color chioce so far. I'll watching this one closely.

03 March 2005, 08:42 PM
Real nice. The boots with the spurs are scary lookin'. Keep this up!

03 March 2005, 08:44 PM
Damn Velinov, you are not going to make the challenge easy are you.

03 March 2005, 08:51 PM
:bounce: uuurgh,urk....gglk......Hello,I'm sorry for you but you gonna have to leave the contest.death is death..bye!

No,serious, no really crits possible there and can't find a way to say something more original then the others and so me bowing too with just one word in mind,...

03 March 2005, 09:44 PM
exellent one, love the melt of death and life (christians)
but i don't know WHY the cowboy boots and the big ball???

03 March 2005, 09:45 PM
Dude, very nice start. I like the characters so far and the composition. I still can't tell who is the master and who is the servant, very interesting.

03 March 2005, 09:48 PM
u got some serious skills there dude

03 March 2005, 11:15 PM
I hate to keep saying the same things everyone else has said...

I'm looking forward to seeing this one evolve! :)

03 March 2005, 12:13 AM

03 March 2005, 05:01 AM

03 March 2005, 06:03 AM
Nice! Looking great man. Look forward to seeing the color! :buttrock:

03 March 2005, 07:22 AM
Great idea, man. I like the style too. I think it needs to be more evident that it's a scythe blade that your hot little nun girl is holding. It took me a bit to figure it out.

One other nit-pick: Not sure if you did this on purpose, but he has flesh on his hands and none on his legs or face/skull. It almost makes me think of a man not wearing any pants, haha! I think he needs at least SOME bone showing in his wrists and hands.

Awesome. Gonna be watching this one.

03 March 2005, 10:33 AM
Wow, guys. Thank U very much for the cements. It's a little strange that you don't have any crits about my work because I have some cements about it. Any way I'm pleased to read all yours adulations. Thanks again and I hope that my next update will satisfied your professional opinions.

03 March 2005, 12:28 AM
Very cool work.
But there is one thing i dont understand:
The legs are bones, but the hands and arms are surrounded with flesh and skin.
That seems a little bit inconsequent, although your work is one of my favourites.

03 March 2005, 12:38 AM
Sorry, i have read R Frederickson's reply right now.
It was not in my opinion to repeat what he said...

03 March 2005, 01:58 AM
interesting concept.. great job on the sketches and I'm liking the colors so far. Not sure about the cowboy boots tho, and they seem to be on the wrong feet. But that could just be me being used to seeing strap buckles on the outside of the ankle.

03 March 2005, 02:05 AM
Ooooo I like very much. This is going to come out great.

03 March 2005, 06:16 AM
love the mood and composition, i think ur final artwork is gonna kick ass.....GoodLux!!:scream:

03 March 2005, 06:53 AM
Like the idea, cant wait to see how it will turn out!

03 March 2005, 07:29 AM
I like the "Spawn" feel to it. Love the "paper texture"!

03 March 2005, 07:33 AM
Very cool work.
But there is one thing i dont understand:
The legs are bones, but the hands and arms are surrounded with flesh and skin.
That seems a little bit inconsequent, although your work is one of my favourites.

for arms and legs are good..maybe the flesh on the legs is so flat that we cannot see it..anyway i like it..keep it up:thumbsup:

03 March 2005, 08:38 AM
looking good. beautiful style. the one thing that confuses me is the cigarette holder. is it way above his jaw? looks like the mouth is open, or way lower than where the extender is coming out of his nose? just a minor detail i became obsessed with. but again. beautiful piece so far.

03 March 2005, 08:44 AM
hey velinov great sketch I have bookmarked your thread! Cant wait for a colored sketch.

best tomaz

03 March 2005, 09:23 AM
that is nuts!

03 March 2005, 12:17 PM
Hey Svetlin, I had to subscribe to your thread as soon as I saw your concept. You have a beautiful conceptual style.
I also love the colour scheme you've chosen, can't wait to see your progress on this.
one crit though and I think this has been covered by a few, is death a skeleton or just very emaciated ? if he's a skeleton should't we only see his ribcage under the folds of cloth. Then again this is art and i like the fact that he has a bloated gut. Gives the impression he is doing some very good business. Beautiful touch with the 'Nun' and the Cowboy Boots as well.
Keep up the great work, and hope to see more stuff soon.

Hi there. For my regret I don't have quite enough free time to develop the image, but fire is the result from my insomnia. I hope that I'm on the right way with the material of the corset which must be sateen. I don't have enough time to make some other changes, so wait for more!!!

03 March 2005, 12:35 PM
still looking excellent! the folds i are so excellent on both characters.

03 March 2005, 01:02 PM
Take your time man, there's plenty left

03 March 2005, 01:20 PM
Very impressive study of Death, That has to be the sexiest nun I have ever seen..hehe and I just love the Boots...nice touch :) Hope keep finding time to do it.

03 March 2005, 01:32 PM
Great fabrics, anatomy and textures. Already one of my favorites!

03 March 2005, 01:41 PM
I have no idea how you do this. Incredible.

03 March 2005, 01:44 PM
Great work (as usual :D)
Good luck bro !

03 March 2005, 01:49 PM

03 March 2005, 05:24 PM
Superb stuff, both concept (wicked...:)) and execution, definitely one of the best I've seen so far.

The skythe's perspective is a bit confusing, but I guess it's too late for changes in that direction.

Kusmet, choveche, stiskam ti palci! :)

03 March 2005, 05:46 PM
Thanks for the support and specially thanks to all bulgarien crew. Thanks a lot!!!

03 March 2005, 01:02 AM
There are so many cool elements to this picture I'm not even going to start.

I love that you've made the death character big and slovenly as opposed to the usual treatment.

I would suggest though that you add an element of decay to the nun character. Either her or her outfit. She looks out of place right now to me.

03 March 2005, 08:07 AM
Just following ur process, saving ur updates to my computer, studying them and learning as much as I can from them.. I hope u didnt expect an critic from me? hehe :D awesome!

03 March 2005, 08:16 AM
I love the dominatrix nun, and how death looks like he has a beer belly

Lookin good, keep on truckin

03 March 2005, 08:43 AM
Hi Velinov, the colours are going great. This is going to be a great piece once its finished. I love the earthy tones you've chosen at this stage. Plus the inclusion of a sexy nun, is always a crowd pleaser!

03 March 2005, 10:20 AM
Great concept! to an impressive start for sure.

03 March 2005, 10:36 AM
it's really going so good...all the next steps are suprsing are a strong rival....:applause:

damn good one :applause:

03 March 2005, 10:53 AM
agree with g-nome here. most amazing.
such a beutiful line you have. very nice and simple colors as well. beyond criticism.

03 March 2005, 10:55 AM
Well as anyone already said it it turns really great.

I have some crits though :)

Firstly, the blade really disturb me, I think it's too long, or not well placed, perhaps too big for the girl....

Secondly, I think you could work more on the volume on her breasts, which don't look as real as the rest of the pic.

And finaly she has the eyes a bit too far from each other, or it's the bottom of her face that is too small.

You are in a good way to make a masterpiece here, your demonish character is really really strong !!!

03 March 2005, 11:01 AM
You have an amazing style, I will definately keep an eye on this thread! Best of luck with the challenge!

03 March 2005, 07:18 PM
Really like the attention to detail with the cloth. Good sense of volume. No crits at the moment but I really like what I'm seeing so far!

03 March 2005, 07:25 PM
Another award dude.  Worth to follow.

03 March 2005, 09:37 PM
From all the work I have seen in the challenge this far, this is my favorite. I love the concept and it kinda makes me wish I had come up with it before you did:D , now I can never do a piece about a nun on deaths lap *wheeps*, no seriously I hope you finish it in time, but I trust you will.
However, there's one thing that suddenly bothers me, maybe someone allready mentioned it, but there's to many replies in here so I didn't read them all. Her left-boob (cameraright) looks kinda awkward, IMO the line on the right of the boob should stop at the hight of her armpit, if you know what I mean (don't really know how to make this clear in english). Right now it looks like the boob gets pushed up to much and it looks unnatural IMO. I suddenly saw this and now I notice it all the time and it keeps bothering me.

03 March 2005, 10:53 PM
first, sorry my english, i'm triyng to pratice....:-(

the light, the ritm, the art... I dont know where i start to exalt! I just dont like too much of that little sun and arrows in black... you was little lazy in that detail.. lol..... I was just kidding:- D, congratulations!!!

03 March 2005, 02:35 AM
this is great work... i love where ur going with this.
i have to disagree with what lane_daugtry about the decay. i think the girl works perfectly

you mentioned that she was there for her sins and chained to a ball. now ur idealic demon char seems like the type to 'steal' someone that would forfill his needs for entertainment. to me it seems like her sin was an excuse to 'steal' her and have her bound so close to him.

in your image he seems like he is almost admiring her and longing to touch her... he finally has his what he want. so if that circumstance is true he would be caring for her, hence her clothes and body would clean and intact.(the purity she contains is an awesome contrast to the whole sceen... its like she has the control but doesnt even know it... he wants her bad, lol)

besides he trusts this girl with blade(whitch btw is massive... a blade that big would be asstonishingly heavy... she couldnt handle it w/out it resting on something).

this really has an emotional feel unlike any other work i have seen for this comp. bonus poiunts there. i think ur well on ur way to an award. i would be interested in what u and lane_daughtry have to say about my proposal

03 March 2005, 06:09 AM
One of my favorites. We'll see this one in the finals.

03 March 2005, 06:19 AM
Nice! Really nice! Not much to crit at this stage, though I might make the nun a little less clean if she's in the perdicament that you described. Can't wait to see more.

03 March 2005, 07:12 AM
Svetlin it's looking great! Might I suggest making his left hand really boney like his right hand? I think it'll suit the character more.

03 March 2005, 07:19 AM
bravo batka, 6te sledya kak se razvivat ne6tata pri teb i ti stiskam palci.

03 March 2005, 07:47 AM
the drapery is outstanding and swell as the composition.

Great Work.
Good luck.

03 March 2005, 08:23 AM
Every time i look at this it just gets better and better... lighting, textures, details... All splendid...

And it's got a nun in it.

03 March 2005, 09:11 AM
This image just seems to evelve each time I look at it! The cloth is awesome, as is the lighting. This is going to be amazing when its finished.

03 March 2005, 10:53 AM
Well i sure took my sweet time to see your work... and it was worth it. u allways do great, so i just waited dor it to take shape. great as usual, only someone should tell mr Grimm Reaper that smoking kills:D

03 March 2005, 12:13 PM (

Hi to all. This is my latest update to the chalange. The changes are not enough from the last time I had post some updates, but for me is important to make the audience a part from that image.

Cheers :)

03 March 2005, 12:21 PM
Hahaha... I love the 'welcome' on the mat!! Inspired!

03 March 2005, 12:22 PM
This is looking smashing Svetlin! A 'welcome' mat too! Lol! :D I'm loving the highlighting on the boots! Well, pretty much all of it really!

03 March 2005, 12:42 PM
haha welcome,looking great man!

03 March 2005, 12:43 PM
Velinov, it is fantastic!

I love the attention to detail, the characters... the welcome mat is genius. Beautiful style. Enough said!

03 March 2005, 01:46 PM
Sneaky little pieces added each time I check! This is really taking off now. I love the cloth and Death's boots. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this over the next few days!

Great stuff!

03 March 2005, 01:47 PM
your rendering is amazing. all of the clothing and the throne looks. well. amazing. i know its still a wip, but i cant wait to see the finished product. i am truly envious. im sure i'll comment again soon.

03 March 2005, 03:11 PM
wonderful! pretty good work!
amazing color choice:thumbsup:

03 March 2005, 03:50 PM
very well done so far. i cant help but notice waht that thing (the item she or the death character is holding) either way great image.

03 March 2005, 04:25 PM
Svetlin, your entry is still my favourite. It's just wonderful. That sexy anti-nun (or what you can call it), just beggin' for sin. And your technique ROCKS! I mean it. I don't know if you noticed, but my sketching phase was greatly influenced by your first coloring steps.
You attention to detail is great, and the way you define those angular shapes is just awesome. I think that there are just two things you could improve:1. The skeleton's right foot seems to be too bent towards the viewer. 2. His left hand's perspective also seems strange. Perhaps you could make it rest on the "anti-nun" to show his affection for her.

03 March 2005, 04:25 PM
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! This challange is going really great. Out there are so many talented authors with such a great ideas. I'll try to do my best to deserve to be a part of that challange.

03 March 2005, 04:49 PM
Can't believe I didn't come across this one before! Great!
I'm looking forward to the finished piece.

03 March 2005, 05:54 PM
very great style! I like water-color feel !!

03 March 2005, 05:57 PM
I'll try to do my best to deserve to be a part of that challange.

Well said. I for one share the sentiment.

03 March 2005, 06:21 PM
that embroidery on that mat is awesome.

this really is progressing nicely

03 March 2005, 06:29 PM
I still am just in awe of your concept. When ever I check out your piece I keep wanting to read this manga called Priest. I love how angular your curves are. It adds so much character to your art. And the way you're CGing! What program are you using anyway. It's so smooth and detailed and you shadows my mouth water. Keep it up!

03 March 2005, 10:53 PM
the main idea is amazing ! Very cool work ! Good luck :applause:

04 April 2005, 12:52 AM
the composition is outstanding.
I'm looking forward on every step of your piece.

04 April 2005, 12:54 AM
Wonderful stuff, great concept and execution. I can't wait to see this finished, good luck to you!

04 April 2005, 01:16 AM
Billiant mate. I love the cowboy boots. Nice touch.

04 April 2005, 02:01 AM
Wow this is looking really nice. You have some really nice details happening in the folds there. :D

04 April 2005, 03:53 AM
Continues to look more and more like sheer Excellence with each update. The cloth on both characters is incredibly well-done, and the textures of each suface really adds a dynamic quality to the image. :)

If I had any critique, I still think the scythe needs to be positioned differently so that there is no guess as to what she's really holding.

04 April 2005, 04:16 AM
Wonderful! awesome job! and for the background?any ideias?

04 April 2005, 04:41 AM
Awesome work mate, im sorry i haddnt come across this one earlier. Im defiantely going to follow this thread. Keep it up!!

04 April 2005, 10:26 AM
that is taking some skills, i like your style for the cloths.
i wonder if it's not a bad idear to put more distance between the 2 person, i meen the dark side and the bright side;
like if you put a glow or something else on the nun...

04 April 2005, 10:28 AM
Always a very good work, the drape of the dress of the death is particulary made a success

04 April 2005, 11:47 AM
Fantastic Work!
Well done man!

04 April 2005, 11:59 AM
Great!no crits!

04 April 2005, 01:47 PM

04 April 2005, 02:00 PM

I'll say it once more, this time in public, the dress is superb!

04 April 2005, 04:47 PM
I want her boots!!! They are fab! They would look so good on me!

THE Wizard
04 April 2005, 07:04 PM
This is one of the best pictures I've seen so far. I reallyllyllylly like it! A few suggestions thou, read them or skip 'em...

I think you should add some more rib cage to mister Grim. I mean, try to make his robe little more transparent so that it looks like he has ribs right beneeth the robe, that would give him that Grim Reaper cool look... Nurse, mmmm, hell nurse.... Great piece of art

hehe this is great! great composition and a lil humor as well...

best of luck!

04 April 2005, 09:33 PM
Very nice indeed. I have one observation, and it's so paltry I can't believe I'm going to say it... but the fingers on his left hand are fatter than the fingers on his right.

04 April 2005, 10:53 PM
I like the painting, I can't comment on much, I just like it:p . I'm subscribed.

04 April 2005, 05:05 AM
its been metioned a few times... the fingers
and the wizard brought up a mad idea... the ribs

if u can get those bones to 'POP' that would be fantastic

04 April 2005, 02:59 PM
Yes Yes... no matter how big r the changes u make on ur submissions, just keep posting them :) Its a pleasure to see every single brush stroke u made. Pure exellence! Didnt read all but Im curious what will be the background if there will be any? Is this some sort of dark cave with a single hole in it where the light will come in? Im waiting for ur next submission! :bounce:

04 April 2005, 03:05 AM
wow...big respect to you svetlin! love your style...gonna keep an eye on your thread...

HI, i love those wrinkles and the subject matter are very contrast,
the only question is the lower chest body part, its neither flat or round,
Other than that this pics totally rock! :buttrock:
agrh! must.. work.. harder..

04 April 2005, 07:27 AM
My gosh dude thats looking awesome! Love your painting style!

04 April 2005, 07:33 AM
   , speechless, awsome cloth u got there, great progress pal  !!

04 April 2005, 09:22 AM (

Hi to all. I have made some changes to the shape os scythe. The nun also had some transformations to her anatomy. I decide to make her more passioned and soft... I hope that you will enjoy and accept the changes.

04 April 2005, 09:26 AM
Oooh, that nun's coming along! And the sythe looks nice and... er, used! Heh! I love Death's 'bling'. How about some 'phat' rings as well?

04 April 2005, 09:27 AM
:bowdown: Just as half talanted could i be as you are! I have no words! I have to save this image right now. No crits, please do it do it...that's all!

04 April 2005, 10:23 AM
Very nice, I like where you're going with this. Both characters look good, but I especially like the Nun, nice work!

The image is a bit flat though, might be nice to bring in some more lights. Look forward to seeing more!

04 April 2005, 11:35 AM
Hi, Always very good here, super style, go, go

04 April 2005, 12:35 PM
Good call on softening the Nun, and the Scythe is shaping up nicely!

04 April 2005, 01:15 PM
What a great idea!
I love your color and composition too.
I can hardly wait to see.

04 April 2005, 01:23 PM
There's one of my favorites! Can't wait to see your final work!

04 April 2005, 03:54 PM
Wow, i follow your work is very well done, is my favorite one (after mine) :D

04 April 2005, 04:07 PM
yeah :) that's it - one really hard used scythe .. remember what i say about Death in the Pratchet storyes... i'm wondering how far you will go with this picture ..can't wait to see the final image! :bounce:
Good luck!

04 April 2005, 05:24 PM
Very nice composition, I like t he details that are coming out in the coloring. The perspective on the scythe is nice.
The welcome mat is classes, as is the cigarrette.
The background looks a little plain though, wonder if you're gonna add something there.

04 April 2005, 05:26 PM
Looking great man! solid as a huge rock. Love the look on the Master and how you render him.

Aragorn A.
04 April 2005, 05:48 PM
Glad you fixed the scythe, looks perfect now. :)

I guess adding some depth to the background will make the piece even more powerful.
Keep up the excellent work! :)

04 April 2005, 07:50 PM
This is some great art, I love every bit of this piece, Lighting ,shading, the whole ball of wax!
I have One suggestion for you to consider,If you have her sharpening the blade , maybe have some sparks coming off the edge. ( just an Idea)
Great work.

04 April 2005, 09:03 PM
This thread has to be in my top favourite three for the 2D challenge. This has to be the coolest rendition of the Grim Reaper I have ever seen... and thats before I even start on your mastery of composition, tone, hue and value. I could wither away in jealousy at the degree of texture you've created in the background, and the wonderful way you've handled all the various textures in the characters and their clothing. Damn.. I'm in love with those cowboy boots.

Everytime I come back to this image, I find something else that makes me go "man, thats genius", from the way you've angled the scythe, to the bounce of reflected light on the front of the nun's headpiece, to the way her shoe is partially hidden in his robes. I can't find anything to crit on this piece at all, just keep going the way you've been heading. And if this doesn't win some kind of prize, I'll cry. Consider me subscribed.

04 April 2005, 09:35 PM
I am loving this piece, I don't have any crits and I don't think I can say anything positive that someone else hasn't already said. Just keep going, you know what you're doing. Just wanted to let you know one more person is digging your stuff.

04 April 2005, 01:09 AM
I like how you've made the scythe handle more visible, and such - but must say I kinda preferred the nun's expression from the previous update. She looks a tad too pious in the latest update... Also, I think the arm holding the scythe needs a little fixing.

I'm loving this piece so far, though - looking forward for more!

04 April 2005, 02:06 AM wonderful stuff~i'm saying,u are gonna be one of the winner if i'm the judge~this is definitely one of the best entry!

04 April 2005, 07:49 AM
WOW. Thank you very much. Those words really makes me happy. I Made the changes to my
entry on account of your crits. I'm glad that you like the result, but this is not the and I hope
that you will continue to work with me on the development of the image. I could miss
someone to thank him personally that's why thanks to all of you. My next update is on
the way out, so see ya soon...... (

04 April 2005, 01:13 PM
Amazing work!!! Great characters and a awesome style. Good luck

04 April 2005, 07:06 AM (

Another one development level of creating the image. :)I decide to drow one ugly bird on the top of the throne for more dramatic feeling. The crow is definetely good choice!!!

Some details:

04 April 2005, 07:26 AM
This is really great ! An amazing piece of painting !

There is no reason to, but I'll try to make a little crit here :
maybe you could add more contrast to the scene, by thickening the shadows or reinforcing the lighting effect. It could emphasize the dramatic feeling of the composition...
Not sure...

Good Luck !

04 April 2005, 07:32 AM
Hi Svetlin,

great update, as always!
Only thing: the Death's left hand loking more "fleshy" than the other "bony" right hand...?

cheers: Kornl

04 April 2005, 09:13 AM
the bird looks a bit out of place ,at this stage anyways..I'd
try to make it a bit smaller and put it on the lower branch in the
center of the pic, just above the cigarette and see how it looks

04 April 2005, 09:27 AM
Coming along GREAT, man. I LUUUUV.. the nun's costume.Sorry for my ignorance, but is there going to b anything happening on the top right of the piece ?

04 April 2005, 01:12 PM
I was in love with the lineart and was thinking if colors would take the strenght of this piece away, but man... you got it :scream: . It's getting better and better and im following this one, that's for sure !
When is the next update??

04 April 2005, 03:54 PM
It's a lot better now :) Nice details !!! Anyway I have to say (and it's more obvious know that you've add details to the master), that the girl anatomy is not as real as the master... She looks more cartoony on some areas (knees, breasts...), perhaps that's something you'll fix later, but I think it was important...

Anyway tha blade is know very cool, the skullhead on the chair also :) Great work, and it's nice to share lot's of steps :)

04 April 2005, 04:18 PM
Dude, Im loving this so much!

peace, pete

04 April 2005, 08:22 PM
Fabulous, fabulous work, as ever! Love the marble like steps, very subtle and very cool. Guess I'm gonna have to up my game!

Keep it up!

04 April 2005, 08:54 PM
nice coloring. The crow is a good element to add to the piece.

04 April 2005, 09:03 PM
Absoluten favorit! Narital si im dupencata na vsichki ! Gordost!

04 April 2005, 10:48 PM
Really love where this has gone... you have a great style (comic book-ish, yet very painterly). I like the revisions to the nun and scyth you've made since I visited last. Great decision making. You gotta be close to getting finished, yes?

I'll check back later for updates. Cheers!

04 April 2005, 12:48 AM
i see a big metal/stone ball...are you planning to put chains or something?

great job! :)

04 April 2005, 02:36 AM
Beautiful work! I havent checked your progress in a while. The colours look amazing and the shading is just perfect. I wanted to comment also on the text on the alter. As a graphic designer I must say your typography is very well established. Assuming you are not a graphic designer, I find that a lot of illustrators are playing with fire when trying to use text in their work and you did a great job on that

04 April 2005, 03:21 AM
Wow this is looking amazing, very nice work.

04 April 2005, 03:25 AM
I think that black areas are too many and too strong and look dry. You've lost some of the freshness of the colors and textures beneath them. :)

04 April 2005, 05:43 AM
ur details are great now... they look so realistic. i love this piece.

what are u going to have in the backgroudn tho?? i think thats lacking atm
