I am attempting to convey various aspects of the master/servant relationship with this concept. (1) Everyone-even the master-is a slave to something. Often the master is completely dependent upon the slave. (2) Your desires and obsessions ultimately make you a slave. (3) Finally, one becomes their obsession/their master. As one consumes more of their obsession they begin to look like, talk like, act like, etc. their obsession/their master.

In this portrayal there are 2 master-servant relationships at work. (1) The woman in the center-a very stereotypical depiction of beauty and female desire-is a slave to her material desires. In this case, her material desires take the form of diamonds. She is attached to a machine that grinds diamonds and allows her to live. Her junk, her monkey are the diamonds. She is a slave to her material desire. (2)The half-man/half-dogs are slaves to their sexual desire for the woman in the center. They bring her diamonds that allow her to feed her monkey and they are rewarded in turn. The woman is the central master in this sketch. But she is a slave to her own desires and she is dependent upon-a slave to- the man/dogs that bring her the junk.
The men are slaves in the truest sense. They are morphing into dogs-man's slave. Dogs entertain us, feed our needs for companionship and loyalty, fetch our house shoes and newspapers, etc. The men have become her dogs, her slaves, they answer to her needs. Their sexual desires have made them slaves.
The woman is becoming like her master and taking on material traits of her master/desire/obsession. Her eyes are diamonds. The lower part of one of her legs is turning into a diamond. Her life stems from the supply of diamonds. She will always be a slave to her obsession but her obsession/desires/master is becoming a material, substantial, obvious part of her in a very literal sense.

Read above. Just a differnt angle

These are all 3 of my sketches. I would not mind at all, getting some feed back.

04 April 2005, 04:57 AM (

Here is my line art.

I must say it has been awhile since I have drawn anything. I hope this is more understandable to read than my messy sketches.

This will be my most challenging project yet. I have never put so much stuff in one drawing before.

I would also love some feed back.

Thanks you looking.

04 April 2005, 10:21 AM

04 April 2005, 05:17 PM
welcome here.

Nice sketches and lineart , very clean , but anyway I don't like (it is only MY opignion he ;) ) the anthro creatures serving the girl , and I don't know why the girl is part of a machine ...
strange but needs some precisions I think :)

04 April 2005, 08:16 PM (

Here is a small low rez color test. This is by no means my final color choices. Just playing around seeing what I like and do not like. She will be pale no matter what, because she can not get outside.

All of the brightness is the Diamonds.

04 April 2005, 08:19 PM

04 April 2005, 08:22 PM

Did you not understand my explanation of the dogs, diamonds, and the girl????

Post number 2 Is my main Idea.

I use alot of different brushes, some I made others I downloaded.
I also liked your little tutorial on painting faces, it is useful.

I spent alot of time bending base colors till I got what I wanted. I am going to make her more classy instead of more slutty.

I have learned alot these past few weeks. Plus I finally got my Gnomon Workshop DVD's,, Neville Page. Vols 2 & 4. Those have been helping too..

I do not remember that show, but I will have to check it out..

04 April 2005, 11:34 PM (

Working on another doggy

04 April 2005, 05:19 AM
don’t worry mate it will come ... it always does. your image is coming along really nice .. just keep working at it...

as for the actual image, there is only one crit i have ... as of right now there is nothing tying your image together... all the elements look like they are separate and the lighting on everything is a bit weird, synthetic... this is a very clean way to draw but very generic perhaps you could work out a unified pallet? any who like i said before keep working nothing much anyone can say till you get to stumbling block and ask for help :)

04 April 2005, 09:39 AM
your coloring skill is awesome , but I think you should look at composition , your detail image such as girl , dog , look very great when they are alone , but when you put all thing together , it seem your element scatter around blank canvas , I think you should squeeze them to show the main element( lady) , this way , you don't work hard so you can concentrate on render detail of your charactor and I'm sure that with your skill , you can make it shine!

04 April 2005, 06:07 PM
Slav, monsitj,

Thanks for stopping by !

I have not really thought about that. I am so concerned with file size and memory issues, I forgot about the composition . Sometimes it is hard to see those things when you are looking at it all day and night :scream: ....

I really do need to work on my color scheme, it is a bit speratic. I also know everything looks "CUT & PASTE" right now too, but that is an easy fix..

I guess I seem to be doing ok for my first CG TALK challenge..

04 April 2005, 09:28 PM (

Here is everything I got done so far. I have to take some more Refferance pics to keep things right.

With everything in there the file is like 390 mb its not to choppy but I can handle it.

04 April 2005, 09:29 PM (

Small update

04 April 2005, 09:34 PM (

Here are some squiggals of what is left to do.

it is mostly going to men I do not know how I am going to dress them yet. But I will think of something.

I finally made a floor design I like..

04 April 2005, 01:14 AM (

Small update,, Trying to unify everything.

Let me know if it working

04 April 2005, 01:21 AM (

Here is a close up of the machine

04 April 2005, 06:22 AM (

Doing some more color work. Desaturating it some. But I think it might be a little to much. Let me know what you think ..

Getting ready lay in the BIG Diamonds.

Not really sure on how to paint the big ones. If anyone has any ideas on how to do that, I would love to hear it.

04 April 2005, 06:35 AM
great colouring job! i didint see the saturated version, but this looks good by itself. the colours are mild an d they dont bother the eye. :D

04 April 2005, 10:23 AM
I like the desturate version! your latest post ! your work improve every post , so keep going man! when challenge finish you will know that you improve a lot!

04 April 2005, 12:07 PM
Hi, your painting is sympathetic nerves you made a success of well the
dogs if you with creates them, but I have the impression to see your
photographs retouch?, go, go, for the continuation.

04 April 2005, 03:48 PM
Thanks for stopping by! It was very saturated. I am glad it is easy on your Eyes.

Thanks again! I have learned loads of new things doing this project.

Thanks for stopping by! I actually used your Hpyerrealistic cat tutorial on CG Networks to help me create the dogs. I am not sure what you mean by sympathetic nerves though.

I plan use it again to make a painting of my girl friends cat soon.

04 April 2005, 06:53 PM (

I got my diamonds made. Even made my own custom brush to do it.

Let me know how they look

05 May 2005, 04:52 PM
there is a lack of depth, i feel. way too 2d. maybe adding blur to front/back and desaturating them a bit?
also, make a choice of the side from which the light comes from. at the moment, each object receives light from it's own side. it's easy to tell, you actually composed the large picture from smaller ones, so they're not holding together too well right now

sorry if i'm wrong, i just get the overall feeling that you are using photos (and apply some regular photoshop filters to produce "wip"'s). that's because there's a great difference in technique between your pencil sketch on page 2 and some of the final dogs (like the one on the bottom right - the alpha from the original picture is seen)

05 May 2005, 05:21 PM

Your are right about the lack of depth. I should have not have done each piece separately, then put it together. I am working on fixing that. For the lighting I am still trying to figure out how I want it too look. I want to have more that one light source, but I guess it is not working to well. As for the dogs I wanted to have them look more realistic than my sketch. I guess it is not working to well either.I did use some photo reference, but I have not use any filters to make the dogs. It is all brush work. I think I have made them a little to close to the photos. I will fix that too. The only I have used that would be close to a filter the pattern maker for the floor.

Thanks for your thoughts and feelings.

05 May 2005, 02:06 AM (

I am re working my Depth issue.

Here is the start of it.

05 May 2005, 08:19 AM

05 May 2005, 06:25 AM (

So much to do,,,,

So little time.

Here is some update for you. I got a couple of the First Time bringers roughed in. I want to put more, but I got so much more to do. I guess we will see.

A friend of mine suggested that I put some Dog statues in there. But I do not know.

Maybe make it look even more deeper ???

05 May 2005, 06:26 AM (

One more for giggles

05 May 2005, 07:20 AM
great with the depth! a little dark though
the woman seems too big at the moment, or the men are too small =)

05 May 2005, 05:43 AM (

MOre update....

I blurred the very back for more depth, and tweaked the lighting some more. Mostly going to be working on tighting everything up. And if I have time add a couple more things in there.

Thoughts, crits, and suggestions are always welcome!!

05 May 2005, 05:48 AM (

DID a flip to see if there are any more errors
