Some body has gone OVERBOARD in quality here!!

It all looks so impressively fantastic. Nothing has been spared at even this stage. I love the amount of detail you have cared for in the creation of the scene.

I am going to love seeing how it all renders out!

04-04-2005, 12:14 PM
Great update.
Just can't wait for the final image.

04-04-2005, 12:19 PM
If you could just stop right now that would be peachy. Your work is lovely and truly does look to be sculptured.

04-04-2005, 12:26 PM
Great work, the poses work very well and you are doing an excellent job on the modeling - especially like the cloth.

you are diligent!:)
nice modelling progress!so nice:thumbsup:

04-04-2005, 01:37 PM
Fantastic modeling. I especially like the clothing on the queen character, it looks very natural and realistic. I can't wait to see it fully textured and lit. I'm curious to see how you're goin to handle the hair on the nanny character . .did you model it as one piece of geometry? Anyway, it's looking great so far. The annatomy of both characters is fantastic. Keep up the good work! Alexi.

04-04-2005, 06:26 PM
thanks for all great words again.
alitle trik i use somethimes when i do posing (before i put on muscle mass, voxel spheres)
is to use my stik dolly, its wery useful to get distance and anatomy right,
so what i do some times is to pose my stik figure in the pose i want and do my body building over it, i do the pose in concept or c4d and use it as ruff guide lines (bone strukture) but my stiks is not like a skeleton, its only the dolly i seem to get along whith.
if someone is interested i will mail you the dolly in c4d file, and if you have visual selector its set up for that.if not, youst clic the joint spheres and rotate, even better to use a 3d mouse to pose quik.a silly pic of my stik dolly.
see you later and youst shout if you want my dolly in c4d file and its yours.

cheers mate!

04-04-2005, 07:30 PM

Thanks for tip

Yeh that works just as well !

04-05-2005, 05:18 PM
what is biped ? in max(got qurios, so please tell me) see you

04-05-2005, 05:42 PM
what is biped ? in max(got qurios, so please tell me) see you

Biped is a bone/animation system (a second one) in MAX. So max has regular Max bones, and Biped which has a few more tools then Max bones, but is mainly for bipeds, although you can make a quadroped(sp?) rig in biped.

04-05-2005, 06:45 PM
man youre doing it really nice...i love your design on this...the wings u did are just amazing...youre a real master for this....

and yes "ace4016" is ok about helps u to create bones structures much more easy than simple bones systems for riggin....and u can animate, save moves secuences for using in other bipeds, it also have an editor to modify and mix diferent motions from diferent bipeds allowing u to use them in a new character...thats in a big scale...theres plenty of things that it can do to make simpler the character animation...

04-05-2005, 06:56 PM
my stik dolly is nothing as complex as that, its youst a hirarcy of bits you can move to get a pose,(thanks for answer and se you sone mates).

04-07-2005, 05:57 AM
Not a rough poly visable...that in itself is quite the feat...
very smooth and organic. it doesnt look like anything else here...not even close...

whats the secret, i gotta know!

my favorite in the competition so far..

04-07-2005, 06:06 AM
stuning work... my only remark is that the beast must be moved a little further from the queen since it kinda steals away your look from her...

04-07-2005, 06:15 AM
Fantastic modelling, really love your characters and all the details you've added. I also really like the lighting and the tone set by your last post (with all the characters posed together). Can't wait to see this textured :)

My one comment is that the composition isn't very looks good, but it seems a bit static and too ordered...almost like I'm looking at a set of resin models. I think the characters are setup nicely, but it might be interesting to play around with the camera angles and settings. Keep up the good work!

04-07-2005, 06:20 AM
that is absolutly fantastic... great to see the whole thing comming together. absolutly stunning work. what are u going to do with the space on the top right?? and what is in the background??... ahh so many questions... are u going to change the camera to a different angle to capture more of ur characters??...

ok ill leave it at that great work

04-07-2005, 06:36 AM

Very good composition, it is very hard to composite so many elements!

04-07-2005, 03:47 PM
Very good work , very impressive , i really like the style .

keep it up .

04-07-2005, 03:48 PM
Looks very, very good! I absolutely love the composition as it is now. Altho I think by enhancing the lighting some you could get some thing to stand out more. as of now, some of the elves seem to fade into the image. Im sure when you start getting color upon the image it will start getting alot better in that area aswell.

Underbart, vänter ivrigt på fortsättningen.

04-07-2005, 04:17 PM
:applause: Excellent work.

The best thing about the whole thing is that all of the characters work very well together in th same scene.

04-07-2005, 04:47 PM

04-07-2005, 05:54 PM

looking sweet my friend !... love the tree (and everything else)

04-10-2005, 04:35 PM
Great progress !!! I just love your lightning... reminds me a bit of "Rembrandt"

04-10-2005, 07:33 PM
Wow very nice mood.

04-10-2005, 08:23 PM
I try really hard each time I come here Alex to do a little more than drool...

Here goes my first try, I think you could add more depth to the image by extending the big trees roots or the line of the tree out past (behind) the minotaur type character a bit, the almost straight line you have sorta cuts the image in half...

Did I mention drool...Keep the fine fine work coming my friend:thumbsup:

04-10-2005, 09:01 PM
beautiful as ever.. awe inspiring work
keep it up m8

04-10-2005, 09:30 PM
U're definatly the best, and from far away, for me.
so much poetry in this ! :) Reminds me a little of great stories. A mix between Dark Cristal and Lord of the rings, and Endless story...

04-10-2005, 11:56 PM (

some more done, now i have to start
doing small creatures for forest.

good lighting Renaissance art*going very well !:) triangle composition looks good.nice work

04-11-2005, 01:06 AM
Man, i could of sworn i subscribed to this =/.
Really great job so the feeling

04-11-2005, 01:24 AM
Amazing!! .... with some good textures this is going to be amazing!

04-11-2005, 04:47 AM
great lighting and enviroment... the best thing about the lighting is u can get away with the spotlights on the characters, the cracks in the forest canopy actually do create light like this in the densest jungles.

great work... no crits just keep it commin:thumbsup:

04-11-2005, 12:06 PM
thanks mates , hopefuly some creatures done to this evening, see you and

04-11-2005, 03:35 PM
thanks mates, and yes ofcourse it will be textured, but i do all modeling, composition and lightening first. thanks and see you all

04-11-2005, 04:03 PM
lookin good man, strong compostion , it has this religious feeling but still fantasy, little crit at this point, the lighting doesnt look to be natural in the sense that all the figures have what looks to be an even point light right on there heads, as if they were all lit to be seen by the camera . i think its creating wierd shadow issues, example, it looks like the figure jsut below the master should be almost completely in shadow, anyway im loosing alittle depth in that sense. not sure if your finished or just playing with light still, but otherwise im digging this one,

04-11-2005, 04:17 PM
How are you going to texture all this stuff. Man, I'd broke my head trying to map such detailed models. Very impresive.

04-11-2005, 10:50 PM words, you´ve done an amzing job on that trees!
keep it up mate! better and better each time I visit here!:bounce:

hey that sounds promising, cool !:bounce:
take courage and

will you let the right triangle part of the comp "empty" (wich already work very well) or will you go for something like crazy interlacement vegetation you do so so well or something else? :)

04-12-2005, 02:58 PM
Doesn't exactly seem like you need any help or suggestions with anything here :D but I just wanted to say that it's a truly beautiful composition you've got here - it's so good I thought for a second that I had accidently stumbled into the 2D section.

Hello Alex H.
Sounds so promising! Can't wait to see them in the final comp... Seems that this image is already composited? There is once again a great comps line/direction/diagonal plus thoose curves with the bodys and the wings:applause: in the post, but since you've got THE eye....

Keep it up and

04-15-2005, 12:49 PM
Those little guys are very cool. God is in the details. This is going to be nuts when you finish it.

How do you go about texturing your stuff?

04-15-2005, 12:55 PM
Such details Alex...:arteest: hope this all shows up in the high resolution shot....

Some more light would help the composition it's a bit drowned out with shadows now...

04-15-2005, 01:43 PM
i love all these lil creature additions of urs... just above and beyond the call of entry...(bad twist on the saying but origional none the less) lol.

so even tho these are "low detail":arteest: *cough *cough how much "low detail" are u going to go into with ur materials and texturing... like are these creatures going to be unique coz that strikes me as rather time consuming... well worth it though... and ur very very capable.

i dont know what to say i have no crits and i wish u the best of luck for the comp.. are u the type that likes to get as much done in 3d then only a small lil touch in photoshop or are u more the type o stop early and finnish in photoshop? dont knwo y i asked that:shrug: just wanted to be included:blush:

great work:thumbsup:

04-15-2005, 03:30 PM

tilite.. i am playing with the mosqui people right now, and realise the poly count on them are higher than the rest of the sceen, so i got to render them in diffrent passes, what i think i going to do whith the outher stuff to, and i think i going for loads of photoshop work on this pic, i going to paint all textures in body paint first. thanks mate and  going to love the freeform haptic (the tool). thans and
see you all later and have a good day

04-17-2005, 12:40 PM
another little play with pic, blured the mosqui and aded some canvas (texture) more for fun,its not going to be in final piece.
i think i going to make the mosqui a bit smaler ?.

04-17-2005, 12:44 PM
I'm just blown away Alex, this was kikkin my ass way back when you started...It's gone from strength to strength consistently...I just hope you have an army of minions for texturing...
Top knotch quality all the way mate:thumbsup::thumbsup:

04-17-2005, 01:00 PM
Thats really a great scene, but im wondering there's no eye control.i mean when i watch ur scene its to somehow confusing, mayb ur a litttle bit wrong with the composition,u know?the scene is busy in a weird way,if u control what to be seen first and what second, this will be a master piece,.and the way u have lighted ur scene,i think having one big light at the top-center and some little and low intensity omnis (as not being noticed by a visitor) would help the visitor to concentrate on one seamless scene!i donno if ihave expresssed what is in my mind or not,.instead of having 4-5 little omnis!
Keep it up,im waitin for more!
i edited the post to add and change some words!

04-17-2005, 01:35 PM
i agree the mozzy ppl need to be smaller... not to small that we loose them in the piece but at this scale they really seem more important than i would portrait them. i think u need to liberate the individuality of the mozzy people.. i like the way they mozzy ppl arive in a cluster... but could u portrait them more as fireflies of fairies where the first few are beautiful and unique and all u can really see of the others in the background are a flutter and a glow. ok im really overthinking this to much now.

1 more thing is the lighting over the crib... i think it should be duller.

ok i best stop... great work

04-17-2005, 02:39 PM
Ho my gordless...just ammmmmazing Alex. I like alot the atmosphere the characters, ligths and compositing mate!!:bounce: :bounce: veryyyyyyy niceeeeeeeeee!!

Madlight_1988.. i no exactly wath you mean, but i have to do the texturing (colors) before i now how mutch light i going to need on eath figure. thanks and
tilite..i am not so keen on glowing things on (fairys)but for you i give it a try, and the light over the crib is going to be controled by the colors.thanks mate and
alexfalchi..thanks allot friend and ofcours
jdsb..the modeling is the part i enjoy, now ower to the boring ,time consuming, texturing.
see you and

Keep it up!!

04-17-2005, 09:16 PM
really nice... :applause:

04-17-2005, 09:51 PM
The modeling, everything about it is breath taking. And annoyingly detailed.. (that last bit was actuallly a compliment) But the lighting at this stage and this manner does sort of take from its presentation. I like the amount of contrast it casts onto the figures. Even still I have to agree with Madlight_1988 up to a point.
I understand that you are leaving the actual light spread til after your texturing, but since your camera shot is decided on (Unless you have a mind in changing your angle); it may be a good idea to get into the textures a bit dependent on how you spread your lighting. In a composition as detailed and outstanding as yours, it would sort of save time to colour to how you would render.
Just a thought.

All that said I too think that the mosqui should be smaller. The bluring deos not really seem to be doing the trick.

Enviously following your impressively detailed masterpeace...

04-17-2005, 10:05 PM
wow man, I've been waiting eagerly for updates, u have pushed the limits once again and I'm sure u have fulfilled everyone's expectations and far beyond. 04-19-2005, 03:17 PM
im honoured that u would attempt a glow on behalf of me:) legend

if ur still working on the lighting figure by figure remember with this piece u kinda created ur own loophole... that being that light from the tree canopy above with split light as if there is seperate spotlights on characters, im sure u realised but just something to think about if it gets to fiddly.

04-19-2005, 03:28 PM
thanks all, just came home from work so no its the first atempt on texture, and i still going to go for separate lights on diffrent figures(tilite) + 2 over all lights on figures.
see you later and

04-19-2005, 08:32 PM
nice concept!

The modeling of all the creature is really nice.

04-19-2005, 09:44 PM
I think I said it before man...Jealous... Absolutely love your work Alex, it's in a league of its own untextured...Sorry to hear that there's no army of texturing minions doing your bidding man...What's your workflow for texturing? Maybe one of us out here can help you streamline it a bit?

BTW the start on texturing looks great man:thumbsup: and I really dig the canvas paper too

May the force be with you...
