Hi Monsitj,

This picture idea is not what I would have expected for a master and servant situation , therefore its a very new , unique and interesting idea for me.
So I am very curious , how it will come out.
Have you ever tried to save your wings 3d files as .mdl files for
Animation Master?
And how did it come out?

04-02-2005, 04:53 AM
The story helps to sell your sketch/idea! I can't wait to see more updates.

I see your very meticulous with the modeler eh? Very nice work thus far, looking forward to progess :)

04-04-2005, 04:59 PM (

simple layout to find what to model, and still find the right composition , c n c are welcome

04-05-2005, 04:50 AM
Something obstructs me a little in the composition, while remaining moved away, the subject is too much centered, which could be more appropriate with a close-up. But it's still very difficult to judge with these cubes. This is my opinion with the first blow of eye. But the way and your subject are very good, continue like that man :)

04-05-2005, 07:28 PM

04-07-2005, 03:10 PM
Excellent work, can't wait to see this fleshed out in 3d. Composition-wise I think the colour sketch was fine, maybe with a little extra space above & to the left of the fishes (to make it more bookcover like, ie. with space at the top to put a title in the event of you winning :) )

04-07-2005, 07:41 PM
Great sketches, nice start on your modeling. I like the feeling of the newer positioning. Keep at it.

04-07-2005, 08:49 PM

04-11-2005, 06:09 PM
The face of your character resembles Gollum, looks good. I would like to see more cups on the tentacles; the larger ones are stretching a bit too much. IMO.

04-11-2005, 06:35 PM
The Old man looks sharp...... ......looking very comfortable......As a master should......;)

I like the style and design of the master......and his servant is also going to be interesting to see as it developes........Nice to see you getting deeper into this Monsit.......(you must have finished Gods of War ;))...............

04-11-2005, 08:28 PM

the old one has a real nice pose... maybe you could make it even stronger if the octo would use one or two arms to lift him up. Besides real nice workflow so far keep it up...

04-12-2005, 01:21 PM
that's freakin' awesome man.. well done!!
The pose is very expression.. nicely executed..

my only crit - the tentacles look a little square towards the base.

is it just me, or do I see a face on that guys body?

04-12-2005, 02:19 PM
Sawasdee krub, Hope you have a wet(or dry if you have to work) and happy Sonkram :) looking really nice as always Monsit ... nothing to crit really ... maybe bring tentacle down that is blocking the hand that attracts the fish in the concept!?

chok dee na krub(not that you need it :P)

04-12-2005, 04:05 PM
Nice modeling and composition. Only thing that sticks out for me is the upper chest and collar bone area. Seems to have a lot of "bulge" for a skinny guy in that pose. :) Try flattening out that area near the center of the chest, but keep the bulge near the shoulders. Otherwise, rock on! :buttrock:

04-12-2005, 04:13 PM
very good modeling i like the style of the master, good work:thumbsup:

04-12-2005, 08:12 PM
keko,eddieellis,smaddl,MDN67: many thanks for encouragements:thumbsup:
the1st_angel: thanks sacha! now i'm working on weight model
Versiden : good point! I hope i can fix it in displacement map:eek:
skunk184 : sawasdee krub nice to see thai guy here !
safe05 : thanks for comments ! yes ,I have to fix his body !

04-13-2005, 02:23 AM
neat concept, im assuming he's supposed to be old , but those two bulges on his chest are alittle too bulgy perhaps make them look more like wrinkles, otherwise keep up the good work.

04-13-2005, 02:56 AM
Very nice models man! Very well done forms! I remember to have modeled an octopus days ago, and it isn't easy hehehe Congrats your octopus is very good. Keep it up friend

04-13-2005, 03:03 AM
great stuff monsit ... this has so much charm and potential for enchantment .. the pose is working very well, with a lot of compositional candy

great stuff

04-13-2005, 08:49 AM (

Many thanks for comments ! here is the fast render and paint over in photoshop to find composition , color , and what to model ,so it open to comments!! waiting for your opionion and thanks in advance!

04-13-2005, 10:07 AM
Hi Monsit,

Uups I've miss your thread, sorry.. This latest update looks so fine. powerful and gentle at the same time. I think we can see anough from the characters, but with a well detailed backround it's not a problem. Great sense of depth and that colorit is lovely. Congratulations!

04-13-2005, 10:21 AM
Hi Monsit!

Te image and a mood it gave is very pleasent and nice! I like it a lot, but maybe there should be more fish? :) Maybe some big one (in shadows) in the bg?

04-13-2005, 12:00 PM
wow, thats great, love it all.see you and

04-13-2005, 12:00 PM
I knew it! It's great work going around here!
As the sketches your mod are so dynamics and also natural (the seaweeds, i can feel them dance with the sea flow... )... and this old sensei (euhm master?) is a stroung evocative chara!! I like him, great feeling of serenity, mishievous (sly?) and wisdom.
since it's obviously wip, no constructice crit to add, so good continuation, i'll folow with great pleasure this thread :bounce:

04-13-2005, 12:01 PM

04-14-2005, 02:51 PM
Looking good! Chest looks much better. Love the turtle and composition! nicely stylized staff behind the main character, too. The only thing that sticks out for me is that the tenticle under the turtle looks a little flat. Great work, though!

04-14-2005, 03:05 PM
Real nice concept so far!
I'd raise the head of the octopus up a bit, it looks like it is so well done would be a shame not to see it

04-14-2005, 03:51 PM
I love your idea.

Old man has alot of charming elements to him. Nice rhythm throughout the model. The piece really flows so far. Keep it up. Wanna see more.

04-15-2005, 03:06 PM
Love the movement the tenticles give to the image. Very exciting

04-15-2005, 05:22 PM (

add more detail element and forground coral to image , c nc are welcome!

04-15-2005, 05:35 PM
i think my only crit lies with the octopus... im not 100% sure so u may want to have a look (if u hvnt already) but do the suckers actually grow off the tenticals like that.... u would think they have a more destinct seperation

great modeling too ... the coral is a nice addition... i think the texture of the thin coral underneath the characters needs to have a soft texture tho...

great work

04-15-2005, 06:17 PM
You just couldn't do better! Congrats!

04-15-2005, 06:19 PM
Hi Monsit,

the corals are a great additional element !!! Plz make them really colourful in the texture step :):):)

04-15-2005, 06:25 PM

I love underwater scenes and this one is looking great!

04-18-2005, 06:53 PM
wow simply amazing!!!... ur really fast man... modles r looking really good and the compostion is really cool... but i have a little suggestion for u... i think the hand positions of the main character could be better. U might think of resting his left hand in a relaxed pose on the turtle. just my 2 cents... keep up the good works man... ur an inspiration!!

04-18-2005, 07:07 PM
Oh yes! Some real nice work here,Like the look already. All set for some real nice moody atmosphere.Real good,I do agree the main character could use some work.but hell it's wip.really some great stuff here partner.

04-20-2005, 11:35 AM (

many many thanks for all of your encouragements, it's mean a lot to me , here is texturing and rendering test so far , I seperate it in pass, texture map is 4096 x4096 , my machine begin to cry , so the process will be slow , comment are welcome guys!!

04-20-2005, 01:17 PM
Beautiful work Monsit. If you're having ram issues with big textures, then you could try what I always do & mix vertex colours & procedural textures. Vert colours work really well on subdivision models (smoothing out as they subdivide) & you can use them for blending materials, dirtmap effects (most apps have a vert colour dirt script or plugin) or just painting basic colours. Then mixed with simple fractal textures (where you tune the # iterations according to the final render) there shouldn't be too much of a hit on rendertimes/cpu usage.

04-20-2005, 10:29 PM
yes I have one: that is looking reaaaally good.
have you modelled everything in z-brush? not that it matters but I´m curious.

04-21-2005, 04:37 AM
This first test of textures seem good... I'm waiting to see better with some render...

04-21-2005, 06:19 AM
