Good luck.

03 March 2005, 01:28 AM
hi everybody

Well, i'll try to figure out something for this challange.
(I bugs me a little that my idea to the GSO challange was ekstremly like the one who won (!!) hehe :P )

Alot of schoolwork tho..
We'll see..

Good luck to all of you!

Really looking forward to be a part of this one

03 March 2005, 01:28 AM
thanks ace :)

03 March 2005, 01:40 AM
Have Fun and Good Luck

03 March 2005, 01:42 AM
The first idea that struck my mind while reading the challange was a picture of a knight, and his trainee, on a rainy day. Taken refuge under a stone for the night.
The knight being the kids mentor, or teacher or something...
But I don't think that would be a winner.

Oh, well.. off to sleep then. almost 3am (at night that is.. silly pm/am-thingy) here...
was so exited on what the challange was that i just couldnt sleep

03 March 2005, 07:03 AM
The challange could be about anything higher ranked than anything else. So. its kind of open for endless possibillities.

#1: My first idea was that a kid was an apprentise for a knight and they were out on a teaching-journey. The picture would show them late at a rainy day, taking cover under a big rock. Camping.

#2: An ant queen telling a worker hes nothing compares to her. The worker would be sad, while the queen doesnt care.

#3: "Standing on top of a hill, the powerful God Rahkin told everyone in the town they were doomed" Seeing him standing there, looking down at everyone, with dark clouds coming from the horizon, and the fear in the eyes of the inhabitants

03 March 2005, 08:28 AM
#4: some horses and a wagon. The jockey (??) whipping the horses and telling them to go further.

#5: An elf being chased in the forrest calls upon his/her wisps to attack the attacker

#6: The owner of a big factory standing in his office looking trough the window down to the factoryhall, overlooking all his hardworking servants (employers)

#7: An elf being chased in the forrest commands the trees nearby to stop the attacker

#8: Ancient egypt, building a pyramid

#9: A robot just switched the roles of whom being the master

I personly like the idea of an apprentise and a master. A teacher.
And I like elfs :)

Maybe I could combine them.

What do you gyes think?
And is the teacher - student relationship the same as the master - servant?

03 March 2005, 09:17 AM
and how about a man sticking his head inside the mouth of a lion?

Just throwing out ideas here.
Will sketch something down soon.

03 March 2005, 11:48 AM
waiting for concept arts!meanwhile...good luck!

03 March 2005, 05:34 PM
• Hello Remi! Nice to meet u, Have fun during the challenge and finish it

03 March 2005, 05:39 PM
thanks mate!
I'll try to finish it!
Got a schoolproject going on also, so it might be tight. But I will try!

03 March 2005, 09:28 PM
Looks like oyou have quite a bit of ideas to chose from. If you do go with the teacher-student relationship, i believe it would count if the student was an apprentice(i.e. page/squire of a knight, a younger brother to his older brother, etc.). I know how it is to balance school and hobby, good luck with your scheduling. Luckily for me I dont sleep for many hours of the day though.

03 March 2005, 09:52 PM
yeah, lots of ideas. But the one i choose has to be really good!

I think I could squeeze in some time to do the challenge each evening. I shure hope so!
It would be greate to participate on such a big event.
I really dont care if i loose (would be greate to win tho!!), I just want to be in this with all of you.

03 March 2005, 09:55 PM
by the way.
Do any of you know if elfs count as human? Since thay got fairly the same emotions and way to express them... They just look a whole lot cooler :D

03 March 2005, 04:01 PM (

I finally manage to come up with something and sketched it down.

I don't have a scanner, so I just photographed it

The idea is a king coming to take one of his servants (villagers) back with him. He is riding a black (shiny pretty) crow.
There are other riders following him. And there are other villagers running away.

03 March 2005, 05:34 PM (

This is more of what the angle will be. I'm not sure about the "servant" facing away. Maybe he should turn his head away from the king. In respect of not looking in his eyes (or something)

03 March 2005, 09:35 PM (

This is just a test for compositing.

03 March 2005, 09:41 PM
Like the compositing bro...really nice and truthful

GL in the challenge =)

03 March 2005, 07:52 AM
Thanks troof :)

I'll start to model something soon.. Just woke up, still lying in bed

03 March 2005, 03:22 AM
Hey Remi,
I like the general idea of your sketch and the King and his bird definitely look imposing from the servants point of view. Keep at it and hope you find the time to finish.

03 March 2005, 03:39 AM
Wow, thats wicked  I like how your able to realize your stick figure concepts using compositing, nice.

03 March 2005, 03:40 AM
From your sketch it looks like the "bird" the king is on looks just like that...a bird
would look nice if you elaborate the king's
just my 2 cents lol

03 March 2005, 11:25 AM
Joust! Dam I spent most of my time playing that game!

Hey Remi looks like you have a very active imagination there dude awsome  Your concept ideas are solid...... best of luck with the modeling dude although it looks like you have your basic shapes all ready to go eh... Nice start Remi I look forward to more of this.... L8rz

03 March 2005, 03:12 PM
this looks very promising.. initial blocking looks cool to ..

03 March 2005, 04:05 PM
Hello gyes!
I've been away this couple of days, and have'nt got the time to work on this. But I'm back! And I'll start the modelling today.

mmoir: Thank you! I hope I'll finish it :)

Kid Mesh: Hehe, thank you. But it was really the other way around. I'm not so good at getting my image in my head down on paper, so it became stickfigures :D

Troof: Yes. I'll try make the bird (it's a crow) look really dominant and angry. That have been the idea all along.

-OZ-: thanks. I've never heard of that game... But it's cool you mentioned it anyway!

blackdragoncg: Actually, I spent alot of time figuring out what to make. But this popped up in my head and I thougt it would be fun to do. If the final image is as cool as the image inside my head this is going to rock!! :buttrock:

Versiden: thanks

By the way, I'm not sure what pose the crow is going to have. Should it fly just above ground? Or should it stand on the ground with the wings spread? Any suggestions would be nice :)

03 March 2005, 09:34 PM
NIce going on the blocking. I think the crow should be in the position just like your concept sketch looks like: landing with its wings spread wide, but not full on the ground. The spreaded wings makes him look more dominating, while the landing but not yet on the ground shows action. Just suggestions. Hope to see mroe updates soon.

Hello Remi. I just wanted to say, thank you for commenting on my challenge. As for yours, I like what you have going on so far. Good perspective. Man, I can already see this thing textured and lighted. Reminds me of those cool Fantasy book images. It is late right now, so I will comment more tomorrow. But, like everyone is saying, keep it up.. still plenty of time. And like I just said, I will back up tomorrow to read more about your ideas and give a more in depth comment. Have a great one.

dragondragon: Thanks. I'll be watching you. Good luck to you too!

overcontrast: thank you very much

Oh, I have'nt done anything for days now..
I think I'm worried about how to model the crow... I have to sketch down some things. Starting now.

04 April 2005, 06:19 PM (

Finally got some spare-time alone. And got my self to draw more sketches.

This is the Crow where the King (or princess) will be riding.

04 April 2005, 06:32 PM
I've even start modeling now!! :scream:

I'm not sure what equipment the crows should have. Other than basic riding-equipment.
It's not a worrior-crow. It's just what the king and his staff use as transport (like a horse).

And I've added more to the story.
The fellow who is being arrested is a thief and have stolen alot of jewelry. The jewelry will be lying spred around him, fallen out of his pockets when he satt down on the ground.

I might also add a little crowd of people watching what is happening. Some of them watching angry at the thief and some looking more relief that the king finally got him. I also might add some kids laughing at the thief because of he is getting arrested.
But only if I get the time.
Since the final image will be in a big resolution, I have to add detail to almost everything. And that will take alot longer to do... And the textures! Oh my, all the texturing..
I don't like Unwrapping...

Well, back to modelling.

04 April 2005, 06:40 PM
cool idea. Good luck:thumbsup:

04 April 2005, 04:57 AM
Hi Remi. Had to come by to see how you are doing. Looks like your taking the time to get into some details of your piece. Can't wait to see how far along you have come. I know, school can take much time from your day. Well guess what, it does not stop there, so does work-smile. Just wanted to say, I too like the composition you have going on. Like how you have our eyes focus on the main idea of your story even if there are other elements in the image. With that said, don't loose that over all perspective you have going on. I said it before, can't wait to see some rendering on this piece, I know it is going to look cool. Ok, got to go and comment on some other pieces as well. Will be back. As usual, best.

Dragon, out.

04 April 2005, 07:08 AM
Hi Remi. Wow, another weekend. Man, time is creeping up on us-smile. But, still plenty of time. Man, looks like you have your work cut out. That bird does not look easy to model, but, if you do it all the time, should be a breeze for ya. And, it's going to look cool in your image. Go, go, go. I'm rooting for ya. Best Remi. Take care.

Dragon, out.

05 May 2005, 07:25 AM
Hi Remi, me again. Told ya I would be back. Seems like school got a hold of ya. Well, hope you been working on your entery. Two days left, plenty of time, plenty of time. Hope all is well. I finished my piece, when you have the time, check it out.
Dragon, out.
