Tristan Lock has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/view_entries.php?challenger=5661)

Latest Update: Concept Sketch: I am a f*cking idiot

Well I quit. I overwrote the latest version of the beast model whith on older version that was on my laptop. oh well. I wasn't really happy with it anyway. But before I did that I drew this sketch yesterday while i was watching a movie. And it's more what I was originaly going for. Minus the freaky dislocated ankle I have in the sketch.

Hey, nice to see you've joined, Tristan. Good luck; looking forward to seeing what you do. :)

03-22-2005, 01:32 AM
Thanks Marc. I'm determined to finish this time. I always start these challenges and never finish.

03-22-2005, 01:40 AM
Have Fun and Good Luck

Good luck.

03-22-2005, 05:46 AM
Hello friend, I believe you have critiqued some work of mine in the past, thank you and good luck to you in this one.

03-22-2005, 06:35 AM
Thanks for your support guys.

Ok main objective here is to finish, no to win, so i'm going to go with something slightly humourous. I'm thinking of having a little boy taking his pet for a walk. The twist is that this kid is a potential dictator, and his pet is a massive ugly beast. I have an image in my head of the boy screaming at the beast to obay his comands. And the beast is screaming back at him, the beasts breath and spit almost blowing the kid away.

I'm not sure if the kid will be a boy or girl. A girl might be more funny. And i'll probably dress them in some sort of military uniform. I'm not sure yet. I'll probably change my mind about the whole thing.

03-22-2005, 06:56 AM
Hey Tristan! Love the concept already, and there aren't even sketches yet! The idea of an upstart kid yelling at a far more powerful creature makes me giggle.:D

03-22-2005, 07:02 AM
Like the philosophy of finishing and not win (I never finished the last two), I think I'll try to follow it

I personaly think a little girl would have more impact

Good luck to you

03-22-2005, 07:17 AM
cant wait to see this one, good luck!

03-22-2005, 10:54 PM
Holy crap, your at Animal now, what department are you in? Say hi to the max guy for me.

And best of luck!

03-22-2005, 11:03 PM
Yeah i think i came on just as you left. 1st of November. I'm downstairs working on happy feet.

03-22-2005, 11:21 PM
Hi Tristan..........really cool concept.......I like the potential.....The creativity in this can be wild.....the little dictator boy kind of reminds me of Stuey.....from the family guy series.......How great is he.......

Sounds like a real nice and interesting plan.......Hope to see it come full circle.......I'll park myself in the front row here..........:arteest:

These are the best of a whole bunch of crappy drawings. I'm pretty happy with the beasts head. The body may need some tweeking. I think I'm going to go for a gorilla type body.

I've decided to go with a goth looking girl. I'm trying to find a ballance between being cute and intimidating at the same time. I'm also trying to get her to look around the 5-7 year age. Which it obviously isn't at the moment, so i'm still working on it.

And i may as well post these aswell. I'm still playing with ideas

03-25-2005, 03:44 AM
Keep fleshing those ideas out, it will come :)

The goth chick wan't working for me so i went back to my original idea. I think it will work better with the beast. As well as being a bit more convincing that the kid is the master.

03-26-2005, 08:01 AM
I like your concept, Now I've gotta start doign this good of work :argh:

good job so far

03-26-2005, 08:05 AM
Nice character concept, can't wait to see it in 3d. One suggestion: maybe you could have a patch over the right eye instead of the freaky scarred eye. Just a suggestion.

03-26-2005, 08:25 AM
I like your idea. it's pretty cute. You should incorporate a "Curb your dog" sign. I think that would be pretty funny!

Best of luck to ya!

03-26-2005, 05:51 PM
Oh, really scary one :D
Fascinating concept

don't hesitate visiting my M&S page (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=224116)

It looks nothing like the concept, but i'm happy with it. It still needs some tweeking and facial expression.

03-28-2005, 01:06 PM
Hey man thats looking great !, love the idea

04-05-2005, 01:43 AM
Heya pencil_head, mental start on the kid character's head, cool concept too mate:thumbsup:

Keep it coming

04-05-2005, 07:27 AM
Nice start on the head. Hoepfully we will be seeing more soon.

Here's a wip of the beast. It still needs eyes and teeth. I still might need to shring the torso down more so he can walk on his hands and feet like a gorilla.

04-10-2005, 02:51 AM
Great work in progress. Just came to subscribe and wish you best luck and loadsa fun!
The beast is exceptional freaky and cool, kid looks fine yet but feel like it could use a bit of inflation here and there. i know what wip means, so no crits this early... Keep it up, looking forward to your progress

04-10-2005, 03:04 AM
Great modeling so far mate!
Love your designs monster designs

04-10-2005, 08:49 AM
Hi Tristan!

Everything you've done so far is superb! I love your concept for the little kid & the modeling of the beast is flawless. The only comment I have so far is that from the scale of the model it looks as though the monster's going to have very small shoulders/arms - is that your plan?

Now waiting eagerly for more updates!

04-10-2005, 07:37 PM
Very nice modeling, very original creature, I like. Good luck with your challenge.

04-10-2005, 07:49 PM
nice modeling,,nice design,..thats realy cool...keep it up:thumbsup::thumbsup:

04-10-2005, 08:51 PM
Hi Tristan, this Monster looks mad mate! I think his neck looks a bit weak tho...kidding... Great, great stuff as always pencil_head...Keep it coming:thumbsup:

04-10-2005, 11:39 PM
Thanks for your comments guys.

AJ_23: I agree with you about the shoulders. But they looks smaller than they actually are because of were i cut them off in the image. Buy yeah, they could do with some beafing up.

04-11-2005, 05:19 PM
Looking good. I would suggest maybe looking at reference of canine teeth, or sharks teeth. I also wondering if it might help to exaggerate the front neck muscles a little more.
That's going to be one cool creature when you finish.

04-12-2005, 11:02 PM
Hey, impressive modelling
Fascinating details you've made, man!
Don't you want to make ears less human-like, I mean closer to beast's style (something like more angular shape, sharp edges etc.) ?
Anyway, cool stuff!!

04-13-2005, 12:34 AM
Hey man great to see your work in this challenge. All the best mate!

04-13-2005, 12:36 AM
good modelling

04-13-2005, 01:59 AM
Rook: Yeah a mixture of shark and canine is what i'm going for. I love the way sharks lips sort of pull back and reveail the teeth and gums. And the diferent shape and size of the canine teeth interst me too. And he neck will strat pop out once i reshape his traps a little more.

Deryk: Good point about the ears. I'm going to fix that.

creativer: Thanks Richard. You know i'm going to mock you if i get mine finished and you don't:D

Marcus_B: Thanks mate.
