View Full Version : The Making of Leon: rotation axis

I notice on Leon you use a "nail" control object. I've tried to use the same setup.
I created two spheres connected by a curve. I parented one sphere and
the curve to the other sphere. Making it similar to the nail control
object you used on Leon's wrist. I named the parent sphere leftArmControlIK.

I centered the pivot of the control object into the center of the sphere
that will be snapped to the center of the wrist joint.

The main problem I'm having is the direction of the rotation axis. After using
the question mark in component mode to rotate the direction of the axis of
the wrist joint, I grouped the leftArmControlIK object to itself. I then applied
orient constrain to the control object and the wrist joint (selecting the wrist
joint first, then selecting the control object -- not the group)
Then I applied a freeze transformation to the group.

It didn't work. The rotation channels don't read zero, and the direction of the
control objects rotation axis does not point in the same direction as the wrist.

Would you mind giving me step by step directions?
