First time i'm first :)

Photoshop CS + wacom, 1hr

03 March 2005, 06:14 PM
,, ok so for you the sound of happiness is your wacom pen bouncing on the wall
hitting the floor getting smashed by your feet in your way to dinner ???

:D :D :applause: great pic man !

03 March 2005, 06:17 PM
Played with a demo version of Alias Sketchbook Pro for this one. Pretty cool little program. Although it took a while and I didn't end up with quite the image I wanted, just because I'm much more familiar with Photoshop. About an hour - part of that time was just getting used to the program.

03 March 2005, 06:34 PM

edit: gosh, forgot about info. 10 min, illustrator + tablet.

03 March 2005, 07:54 PM
Tried to see how i could sketch crowds. It went ok although painting would be difficult. So the sound of happiness is... crowds shouting at victorious warriors or something like that. By the way, good work folks!

03 March 2005, 10:31 PM
painter 50 minutes

03 March 2005, 10:43 PM
Crazy3DMan: your sketch is really great

OpenCanvas, around two hours.
( hints or tutorials welcome )

03 March 2005, 10:56 PM
I canīt believe this... I thought it was the sound of silence! not the sound of happiness

ok, I made a drawing but Iīm not going to post it because it has nothing to do with the topic

anyway, this is daily so... see you tomorrow
Nice sketches everyone
and thanl you for your comments on the tablet working crazy3dman.

I canīt believe this... I thought it was the sound of silence! not the sound of happiness

03 March 2005, 11:13 PM
oblivisci: stylized work! i love it!

03 March 2005, 11:24 PM
Really great sketchs so far. I was out almost all day and recently got home. I'm falling asleep, so no more time. Sorry for the simplicity.

OpenCanvas/10 minutes

EDIT: Converted the file to a png since the Jpeg had too many commpression artifacts (and the file size is now smaller).

03 March 2005, 11:36 PM
mdme_sadie - don't know exactly what it is that I love about your sketch - it brought a smile, though! well done!

Drumwhore - yours reminds me of the Ween song, "Little Birdy" - love it!

03 March 2005, 11:59 PM

03 March 2005, 01:07 AM

10-15 mins

03 March 2005, 01:48 AM
Here's mine. I can't believe it took me nealy 3 hrs on this thing. I guess I forgot how time flies on me when I'm having fun. Actual time is: 2 hrs 45 mins. Done by hand & Photoshop.:D

Drumwhore, yours is soooo cool. :bounce: Mine is stylized and the instrument representing the sweetness of sound is simple. But not bad for my second attempt here...

03 March 2005, 04:16 AM
PS 2.5 hrs

Note: the ear was pulled from a drawing I submitted to the 2d forum:

03 March 2005, 04:22 AM

03 March 2005, 05:10 AM
Thanks Gordonm - Love your colors. Makes me think of Peter Max.

Thanks - I was thinking of him ...and... the Beatles...and ... "the summer of love"...and Jimi Hendrixs' "are you experienced" album cover ...and - Uh - Ok Ok - I confess, I was tripping down memory lane! (but it was fun!) :)

03 March 2005, 01:48 PM
it's been an incredible long time since I particitated. Hope I can do more in the future, but my study is eating my time.

half an hour, painter. The first flowers in spring, pushing the snow and the cold back in the caves where they came from: that's the sound of happiness for me

03 March 2005, 02:21 PM
So many excelent sketches, everyone is making a wonderful work:thumbsup:.
Oblivisci: the simplicity of your work is so beautiful that I've choose it for my wallpaper
Loulu79, Crazy3dman: your works are so sweet.

This took about 2h30...sketch on paper color on Open canvas.

This one really does suck :banghead: but since I'm really proud of the vespa (since I never done one before, i took reference in the photo below) I decided to post it.

03 March 2005, 05:03 PM
Nekoi-chan: wow, thanks :) i'm flattered. thanks to everyone else for kind comments aswell, it's surprising to be noticed in such a bunch of talented people.

03 March 2005, 05:33 PM

Great work, everyone!

03 March 2005, 07:34 PM
This is one of my sounds of happiness, I imagine my neighbours disagree though..

Painter / tablet / 40 mins? (

Edit: Garma, that's really nice man.

03 March 2005, 07:46 PM
Whee, I'm actually rather happy with this one.

About an hour and fifteen minutes? I was on the phone, so I don't know for sure. Somewhere thereabouts. Photoshop 7, wacom tablet.

03 March 2005, 08:04 PM
Welcome to the Daily Sketch Group bluka and Balboa.

bluka:Your pic is really cool. I like the proportions and the colors, I'm looking forward to see more pics of you.

Enayla: reverential silence for you.

03 March 2005, 08:07 PM
Hello, can do such a painting while being on the phone....argh.Do you have a secret? Secret food, secret drink, secret formula, secret tablet, secret phone?

03 March 2005, 08:55 PM
I feel ashamed of posting this after Enayla's entry.. awesome work, Enayla!

ding! (
2hours, more or less, experimenting with new lighting methods, Photoshop7
Dargon: welcome back!!

03 March 2005, 09:01 PM
man, am I late.. I'm a bit mixed up with the time zones here.. sorry.

wacom + gimp.. around 40 minutes.

03 March 2005, 09:07 PM
deaderthanred - LOL!! One of my favourite sounds too.

03 March 2005, 09:53 PM
my sound of happiness is dancing in the rain!
"la la la"

03 March 2005, 10:42 PM
God Enayla!!! You nail it every time! I see mine gives you inspiration: the simple flute instrument and a winged listener. You aught to get it again (the winning vote). I'm still new here at cg to be voted. But...don't worry...You're my inspiration...I need to hone my skill in the human skin. Mine is getting there thought with this sketch practise!

Basse: I love your watery-on-paper look! Love it!

Deaderthanred: I thougt someone would think that "The Sound of Happiness" would be about war/victory. Simple yet to the point concept. Love that. I like your lighting too.

Garma: My first glimpse of it reminds me of impressionism art. Don't know why but I really like it. Keep it up man, keep it up...

Gordanm: Your rainbow colours give me inspiration. Thanks....

03 March 2005, 10:53 PM
SoniaNotRed: yay for crpg! :D
Loulu79: thanks! :) it's not really war, but the sound a computer role-playing game normally makes (usually a fairy chime or a "ding!" type sound) when your character levels up, where you gain new powers and items for your game character, and opening up new levels in the game to explore.

03 March 2005, 11:02 PM
SpeccySteve : I wonder why the neighboors always desagree with the happy soud of electric guitar training, but I guess it's because they never had a try. :buttrock:

Enayla: All we can do is :bowdown:to your majesty.

deaderthanred: Her expression is really kick ass.

03 March 2005, 11:18 PM
Hey, nice work everyone!
Here is my friendly, singing parrot. :)
Photoshop 3 hours. I took the colors for the bird from a reference photo.

03 March 2005, 12:15 AM

03 March 2005, 11:18 AM
Hey, nice work everyone!
Here is my friendly, singing parrot. :)
Photoshop 3 hours. I took the colors for the bird from a reference photo.

Yellow crowned amazon? Very cute. My senegal doesn't make sweet noises often.. more of a shrieking sound.. lately he's been purring though ;)

03 March 2005, 11:31 AM
Thanks for the comments guys. The brushes that I've used are to be found at this site:
Hope it helps someone.

03 March 2005, 12:16 PM

Her0d -

03 March 2005, 11:56 PM
for her the happiest sound was one not made...

18 minutes / wacom / art rage (sketching) / paint shop pro (negative, softening).

03 March 2005, 02:27 AM
Interestign topic. To mw thw sond of money always pleases for anyone else :applause:

About 5 minutes on Painter.

03 March 2005, 11:32 PM
HerrKatt: Yeah!!!:bounce: That's what I call the "Sound of Happiness"! I'm originally from the Caribbean and to hear a parrot right now will most definitely be the sound of happiness.

Augustus: I agree with u: Too many beautiful sketches...let me add too little time!!!:argh:

Deaderthanred: I knew it was a game. But the idea that first got to my mind was victory. Still a good concept.

03 March 2005, 06:14 AM
HerrKatt. great parrot painting, I really like the way you framed it in that wierd textured folliage! good work.

03 March 2005, 01:35 PM
