oops. I made a mistake.

03-01-2005, 10:58 PM
1 hour, OpenCanvas
(I love this place, in two days I've drawn two things I never had even thought I'd draw before - ships and people kissing, and I daresay I am proud of that)

03-01-2005, 11:01 PM
mdm sadie: beautiful...

here's mine.

wacom + gimp, 1hour.

03-01-2005, 11:34 PM
Hello, looks like most of the big guys of the forum felt uninspired by the topic...
then I dared to post :)

Open Canvas, 1 hour and a half,
colors vaguely inspired by Yslaire's Sambre
Hope you'll like it

Jannis: really cute sketch

Dranger: nice Idea and nice sketch. Like the lips.

03-01-2005, 11:55 PM
20 minutes, open canvas, wacom

03-02-2005, 12:50 AM

While I do a lot of image editing and coloring at work, I am very poor at sketching. I hope I can find time to participate more in the DSF! It's always fun to see everybody's work.

So, here's my second contribution (to the forum.) Hope to make it more (and of better quality) over time! I haven't quite gotten used to "painting" in Photoshop, though I used PS7 for this image. About 30 minutes to complete.

03-02-2005, 01:35 AM
Mdme_Sadie: That is really nice. What about the black framing? I am really curious does it have a particular meaning?

03-02-2005, 03:11 AM
Yeah that's right . . . Its a gay "Species" first kiss!
photoshop 25 minutes.

03-02-2005, 03:16 AM
OK, I was getting kind of carried away with this one. Must have been about 2 and a half hours when I made myself quit. Wacom - Photoshop.

03-02-2005, 03:20 AM
fcint: hi thanks! the frame is actually me playing with trying to break up the form some. i'm quite fond of the works of Anthony Green, also of the Cornish primitive artists, and of course some of the concepts of Mondrian.

so i thought it would be interesting to play with the border a bit to make a non rectangular shape to work in, though in this case i'm not sure if it impacts or does anything for the form, it's rather random rather than thought out... though perhaps i'll keep playing with the idea some.

03-02-2005, 03:37 AM
nice work people!

Ok, here is Jeff the janitor, on a april morning back in 1974 he has just received his...
hardest perspective I ever worked with and the lamp had to go - looked very strange
album ref. from google - not my kinda music but it fitted on the topic
about 2 hours in PS, wacom

03-02-2005, 03:50 AM
Painter IX, Wacom Graphire, just over an hour, no reference

I just managed to figure some things out about doing shading. This turned out so much better than my last daily.

I was kind of going for a sleeping beauty type look.

03-02-2005, 04:21 AM

Gotta love these "2 minute sketches"..but this took about 10 min total.

daw - LOVE IT!! Love the twist.

03-02-2005, 04:50 AM
This is mine done 1 hr 50 mins. I did this with the limited time I really have, so I rushed it.:)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot: by hand and Photoshop.

03-02-2005, 09:10 AM
Nice sketches everybody.

03-02-2005, 09:10 AM
Speed paint in Painter IX. Fiddled a bit in GIMP for cropping and resizing.
Total time 45 minutes.

"Stolen Kiss" -- don't know if this is first kiss or pirates...

I was interested in trying out various types of brushes in Painter, but everything ended up flat. I like the composition on this, although the angles could be a bit more extreme (anyone know how to resize a selection in Painter? The help was less than helpful) and may go back and re-ink and re-color this one.

03-02-2005, 10:22 AM

1h Photoshop.

03-02-2005, 10:33 AM
Il Cattivo: I like that one!
How long did it take you?

03-02-2005, 10:41 AM
It took about 60 min.

03-02-2005, 11:40 AM
very fast one today. wacom 25' phtshp. references used from google. (

great one Il Cattivo.

03-02-2005, 12:20 PM
Ah good to see I wasn't the only one that remembers KISS. I tried to make the style and
environment contradict to KISS although that are some nasty punk girls, perspective and lighting have issues but the atmosphere works i think. Done in painter 150minutes.

Crazy3dman: i Love the look of the snake, scales really work.

03-02-2005, 12:30 PM
Hym, this is sooo cute!

03-02-2005, 01:26 PM
Alex Worthy: That's so amusing, love those finger puppets.
AngryScientist: Your piece is so beautiful, like those colors alot.
Crazy3dman: awsome and extremely sensual.
Daw: Kiss was trully the "first kiss" for many people, great work.
Loulu79: that's a really sweet concept.
Hym: tha's a cute classic.

Here's my entry, yes 2 boys....
faces made on paper color open canvas, shaped brushes photoshop cs. about 2h30.

03-02-2005, 02:12 PM
Havn't done one of these in ages.
20 min, Painter 9, mouse

Nice one Hym!

03-02-2005, 02:23 PM
Havn't done one of these in ages.

One of these what? one of these first kisses? :scream:
Your image has style! And it's extremely well done considering that you used a mouse!

03-02-2005, 02:35 PM
Thanks coCoKnight! lol, what I meant is a Daily Sketch.

03-02-2005, 02:58 PM

White Rabbit
03-02-2005, 04:04 PM
Alex Worthy - That's just the kind of humor that gets me rolling on the floor in irrepressible fits of nervous laughter - which it did. :D was that inspired by La Cité de La Peur at all ?

03-02-2005, 05:10 PM
La cite de la peur.... I wonder how many French people are sketching here :)
Little Rabbit and Alex, are you French?

Edit> ok, it is written on the left for Little Rabbit...sorry...need to change my glasses :)

Nope, I never heard of that. If I had to credit my source of inspiration I would say visually it came mostly from monty-python, and conceptually... Garrison Kieler from the Prarie Home Compainion. And, I'm not terribly familiar with France. Is that in England somewhere?

03-02-2005, 05:35 PM

:curious: You're joking aren't you?

I don't know la cite de la peur but I know la cite des enfants perdues. That's a great french film!

03-02-2005, 10:00 PM
Hym I love yours...yeah u know that age, it is really the first kiss!:applause:
Nekoi Chan, thanks that you like it. I feel honored since this is my very first time posting up my sketch for the Daily forum. Now the next challenge is to use only the mouse in Photoshop!
Tadbit, great job for doing that with a mouse from scratch!

btw: Another challenge is to keep up the daily sketching within limited hours!:argh:
