What books should i buy.
Iv got one already but nothing of what i need.
I wanna learn how to design games.
I wanna find out how to custom compress files do full 3d games from the begening.
Recomendations plz people.
I use vc++ 6 and vb 6.
the one i got was active x :/ was not what i needed.
All i seen was vc++ 6 for begeners.
O yea i would like it to have networking in it. just basic to start with.

You'll be learning C++ and OpenGL at the same time.
Usually, programming books doesn't cover what you need to know to start experimenting with graphics or game engines, as you've discovered. But those OpenGL-tutorials on that site ranges from your very basic first steps to something that almost looks like a game. For more specific reference on C++ you can use this site: http://www.cppreference.com/ among others. Just search Google to find more of those. Gamedev.net also has a great forum where you can ask more programming/opengl-oriented questions. Probably not that many on CGTalk uses that stuff. Good luck :)

netlibrary and hackinthebox.org are two great places to go. Hack in the box has free forums to join and netlibrary can be joined free at librarypoint.org.

I buy 3d game programing all in one.
Its perfect if you will use torque game ingine thats what it is based off of.
its 50$ at a usa barnes and nobel.

Something else to think about ... There are lots of "game development toolkits" out there. Grab one and write a game with it. Look for something that doesn't oblige you to dive straight into the messy world of C/C++, or even VB, to be able to produce usable results. It is much easier to start by working with a toolkit, and then to tear that toolkit apart to see how it works, than to try to start from the beginning. (Homebuilders don't start by growing trees, even though they consume a lot of wood.)

Read these books...
1) Thinking in C++ volume 1.
2) Thinking in C++ volume 2.
3) C++ primer.
4) The C++ programming language.
15 more years and you will be a programming guru, Have fun :).

Don't just jump into buying books, hoping one will present all of the information you need right off the start. Game development is huge task and you've got to take it step by step.
Here's a few quesitons to start with:
1. What programming experience do you have
2. What knowledge of 3D graphics do you possess
3. What knowledge of math do you possess
4. What type of game are you looking to create? If you answered:
then you're in for a big disappointment. You have to start out small. Make project number 1 pong, breakout, or tetris (those are ranked in order of difficulty).
BUT! Before you do that, you're going to have to decide on a graphical API. I'd suggest OpenGL because it's fairly straightforward to learn. If you have visual C++ experience (as in working with Win32 or MFC), then you might prefer DirectX. I prefer OpenGL because it's portabel to any platform and you don't have to deal with all of Microsoft's conventions (which I feel are unintuitive, but that's just my oppinion).
Anyway, I'd do as opacity suggested and pay a visit to http://nehe.gamedev.net. You'll learn OpenGL game programming there. You're also going to want to LIVE at http://www.gamedev.net. Read articles, google every problem you have, read others' posts there (gamedev), and ask as many questions as you can (provided you've done the other three first).
