Seems that most people start with cars that can be defined using basic and strong geometric forms. Cars such as the Audi TT and VW Beetle. The Hummer and Scion Xb shouldn't be that hard either (they're pretty much a box.) Think about general shapes and profiles and go from there. Of course it doesn't hurt to try modeling something you haven't seen modeled yet (Yeah I know there's nothing to copy from mesh-wise. Instead think of it as learning to develop your own solutions.)
