View Full Version : How to create a QuickTime VR?

I need to create a panoramic Quicktime VR and am gathering information on how to achieve that.
What the best method to output images from Maya? What applications do exist on Windows XP and which of them work best to create the final QTVR? Are there any tips and tricks I have to know so that I can achieve highest quality in the final QTVR (as to speak crisp and sharp and undistorted)?
I already found a cubic and a panoramic lens shader for mental ray on the net (http://www.vi-motion.de/latlong_Tutorial/). But I can't figure out a good program to convert the output images to a QTVR movie which is undistorted.
Thanks in advance for any hints and tips and directions ...

Thanks for the links. Especially the second one seems to be very useful to give me some overview.
I was already playing around with the demo version of the VR Toolbox but I wasn't able to create undistorted results which have an crisp and sharp overall look. The VR movies tend to be very blurry in the upper and lower parts.
Someone got some advice about what's the best way to output imagery from Maya to achieve highest quality in the final movie?
Cadillac (http://www.cadillac.com/cadillacjsp/models/gallery.jsp?model=xlr§ion=360) for example got some really great looking QTVRs on its site. This is the level of quality I am after but not able to achieve yet.
