Please take a look and let me know what you think about the timing and acting..
NOTE: there is NO facial animation yet, this will come after the body animation

Only one crit. Thats that when he looks in the binoculuars and then looks above them, he seems a bit static and a bit too fast.
But apart from that its fine as it is.

Good Work!

Thanks,, I will work that in as I continue.. Am I being expressive enough with this anim? I got flack on my last post with this character for being too lifeless. (

Okay, here's an updated version of this wip, I tightened up certain parts and smoothed out others. I added a little hop in the suprised reaction.. let me know if it works and what else can be done to help this scene out.
Note: I still haven't gotten to the facial animation yet.. that's coming next

The second animation is much, MUCH better than the first one. I don't think its unexpressive, but there can be much more added to it (maybe his flab could wobble when he moves?) I also think some things can be added to the story of the short animation. (maybe he could look in the wrong end of the binoculars?)
But this isn't my animation and its up to you to make up your mind.
The second animation is fine and I would keep that one but, as with everything. It can be improved!
Great work!

The "jump back" gesture works, but I would make it a little quicker and add a bigger anticipation. Also offset the arms, because you're getting some twinning right now. The only other critique I can offer would be to add more weight to the enitre piece. The walk in is a bit floaty. It still feels very linear. I would add more weight shift in his steps. One more thing. Add some ease in ease out to the poses. The lack of this is what adds to the linear feel of much of the movement. It's coming along nicely though. I hope some of this stuff helps you out.

I think it's a little bit stiff, tweak them in the graph editor and it should be fine.

Overall nice work.

Thank you, thank you , thank you for the advice, most of the time people never really help, they just look and don't post.

I will move ahead on the crits, like the ease in and ease out, anticipation and of course the apparent twinning..

thanks again keep an eye out next week for a new version..

WAIT WAIT I GOTS MORE!!! in the first animation i really really liked when he looks through them then looks with his eyes then looks through them again, in the second version you smoothed it out but it lost a lot of the immeadiacy. its up to you of course but i would ad more anticipation then have the actual motion take only a few frames then have lots of followthrough. i liked it because it broke up the tempo of the animation. Life can be stiff, stiff like a fox. watch someone doing the robot...someone who is good at it that is, their whole body leads in to the action then they just stop. oh and i LOVE the hand motion, I laughed everytime i watched it thinking what he could be looking at and what that hand motion means. awsome work man.
