View Full Version : Mental ray won't render 16 bit tif in grayscale

Mental ray abort when trying to render a 16 bit image used as a bumpmap, a file saved from photoshop as 16 bit grayscale tif.

The file size of an grayscale is 1/3 of an rgb file, so it would be nice to have this working with a grayscale like image. Or is there perhaps a different optimal solution for using 16 bit images for bumpmap purposes.

Just save the image out in rgb mode and it will work fine. mental ray doesn't render grayscale images.
