"Toho announced that Miyazaki will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement ( at the 62nd Venice International Film Festival this August.

This report ( (in Japanese) states that Miyazaki is going to attend the award ceremony."

He isn't only behind some animes made in the past few years, a lot of TOP quality anime shows that used to air on TV when I was young were his creation. Japanese animation was not always about giant robots and pokémons.
