View Full Version : Rendering Basics

Hello all. I am a relative beginner with some rendering questions. I am trying to render various animations and I am wondering about ways to speed up my rendering times. From a hardware perspective, can you tell me what has a greater effect on rendering times? Is it amount of RAM, video RAM, processor speed? I am doing all of my rendering with Maya Software, rendering the scenes out as avi's. Should I be using some other software for my rendering? I am on a limited budget so purchasing expensive software is difficult.

Does anyone know of tutorials that can run me through setting up rendering attributes to optimize rendering speed?

Thank you for your time. Have a great day.

-CPU is mostly used when rendering, however more Ram is always a good addition.
-Render single frames, then composite them.
