Great work !!! I like the lava and the blast too ;) You must work on that blast area but I can wait when you finish it ;)

Sorry for my english

Regards, Pepe.

02 February 2005, 07:56 PM
New pictures !

02 February 2005, 09:08 PM
Hey, thats a fine piece of lava. I think that looks hot when itīs moving.
About the fire in the building: I think there is something wrong, canīt figure out what exactly. Maybe itīs just in the image and looks good when animated. Currently it looks like pasted in the image.
Good luck, i hope my comments can help

We are posting the voting thread on Friday.

You have until then to finish.
Great work so far.

keep it up guys

03 March 2005, 11:37 PM
after hours of works here is a near completed update, on the to do list:
-make the sound match the video a the end of the movie
-and make it a nicely compressed quicktime ( now it's a divx because the quicktime is 90Mo a little too much for my bandwith).

i hope you like it.

What an amazing entry.
Great job.

03 March 2005, 05:42 AM
WOW! Truly and utterly amazing! Great anticipation! Even better when the sound is pumped up!

03 March 2005, 09:16 AM
Wow. Great work. I'm especially impressed with the shot that starts at 1:04 (the people running from flowing lava). Very nice.
I also like that you took the time to build up to the eruption, with shots of the city and the people. An overall well-rounded composition.

03 March 2005, 12:00 PM
lol MAD!

excellent work

whats the name of the music you had playing?

03 March 2005, 12:34 PM
Now THAT's something.

And you managed REALLY good 3D lava and build tension to boot. And you must have had actual people help you ("actors").

When I did mine I contemplated "maybe I should yell to everyone, please run in panic for the camera" but it was mostly mommies with their kids out so the police would probably catch me ;)

NICE stylistic thing! Ace matchmoving. Love the guy with the Tigger backpack.... ;)

Simply stunning.

03 March 2005, 03:50 PM
Incredible job! Great FX - Lava and explosions. Simply stunning :applause:

03 March 2005, 11:41 PM
thanks a lot,
glad you liked it, i just wish i had more time to tweaks all the shots as the one when people are running away from the flowing lava.
Master Zap: thanks mate, i love your entry too  , and yes i managed to have the help of *actors*,these are friends from school, and believe me 20 guys running and and shouting in the street is really something, you just had to see the face of people comming in the wrong way and us *ruuunn ruunn for your life*:)
SuperMax : thanks, as soon as i have the exact name of the music i ll post it

and now resting time

03 March 2005, 11:55 AM
Well, what can one say. I thought I was doing well ...until I say this.

STUNNING WORK. The whole project looks and feels great.
A few nit picks with the scene where the lava breaks through the surface but I wish mine was half as good.

Out of curiosity, what camera did you use to shoot the footage? It looks like a nice one.

03 March 2005, 12:25 PM
thanks Roux, the camera we used for all the shots with sfx is a canon Xm2, and for the others, it's a Sony DCR-VX2100, nothing fancy, but 3ccd is sufficient for the tracking

mmmm :bounce: my two favorites. The shots look great. Did you use artificial lighting or is it only natural? It looks very nice.

advanced interaction
03 March 2005, 08:26 PM
I can’t say much more than has already been said. The build up is great and the overall feel has great impact and flows nicely together. Fantastic work can’t wait to see more!

03 March 2005, 11:02 PM
Well, after some minor modification(color and sound fixes) this is my final version.

The old link is dead.

Divx - 640*480 - (25 Mo)

Quicktime - 640*480 - (123 Mo)

03 March 2005, 12:00 AM
Roux: no this is natural lightning only, we tried to acheive the *avalon* look, with nice saturated skyes, and high contrast.

can't do much more before the deadline, but i have in mind to redo the editing, and maybe some sfx shots after, be sure that i'll post an update here :p
