ok, gotta try and texture this one!!
i have no clue about how to start.
I'm unwrapping the model right now, i'll post something asap, but i'd like to know where i should start...
from the bump map?
from the specular map?
from the color map?
all of them at once?
but more important:
what should i draw? shadows and bright spots?
skin pores and lips cracks?
i've never done that (besides the poor attempt on the avatar...) so i dont really know where to begin!
i'm using lightwave, but that's not really important...

Well, you first need to know what kind of character your model will be.
Is he an warrior Orc ? If so then add some scars, beard stubble, un-evenly colored skin, skin blemishes, blood shot eyes, etc..
Is he a dandified gentleman demon ? If so then make him clean shaven, with a well groomed head of hair and maybe a dainty little goatee for a beard with mild brown eyes.
Is he a rough neck blue collar worker ? Is so then give him a 5 O'Clock shadow for a beard and even toned skin with maybe a cigar jutting out the side of a mouth with piercing blue eyes.
Is he ... ? Well you get the idea. Decide on what personality he will have before trying to texture it.

when i started modeling it, i thought about the "dandified genteldemon" ;) but i'd like to see what i'll be able to do...
i'm adjusting the uv map right now. the left side of the head (on the right part of the image) i havent touched, i'll mirror the other part i believe... I put a grid image for reference and i'm pushing points...
Am i doing something useless? my guess would be that once i have smooth loking lines, it'll be easier to draw the texture, am i wrong?

first attempt to texture it...
sorry for the brightness, i screwed up with my monitor br/contr. settings...
i dont really know what i should put in the bump and specular maps
(you're truly welcome to say: i dont like the color, you should do him more yellow, or things like that...)

played around with the textures and a bit of endomorphs...
anim soon to come...
i'd like to know if you like it or if you find it so pityful not to even deserve a critique!:hmm:

You really need a bump map, badly. Also a diffuse map :D
Stuff to put into the bump map are things like wrinkles and scars, as well as the actual grain of the skin itself. But the most important thing that this needs is some wrinkling. It will add so much more dimension to his face.
You need to make a diffuse map to get rid of those over-saturated spots that are forming where the light is hitting it.
A spec map should be simple - for starters, just make his cheeks, nose and area around his eyes a little shinier than the rest, and work from there!
