View Full Version : Markersketches: vehicles & more

I'm currently working on my marker skills, trying to find faster ways of concepting and visualizing ideas. These are some of the first ones I did, some directly jotted down on paper with marker and lateron traced with pen, and some (the real clean one) I first did a thumbnail, blew that up, and used that as an underlay.
Feedback and comments appreciated, I would also really like to hear how other peoples workprocess when it comes to markersketches.

your concepts are incredible -- only thing i would work on is technique. I feel that you could use your markers to acheive a higher level of contrast as well as avoiding streaks (super difficult to do. You have to work faster, but still be precise.)
Great work though.

I'm impressed by the realism and the details of your drawing. They should be translate in 3D...

Noob: hehe, thnx!
Interfacer: good point, I've been reading up on some marker tutorials yesterday, I should get cleaner results now, plus I'm gonna buy some more gradations of marker, I now only have a 30% and a 50% grey marker that I'm working with.
Rais: Huge compliment there man! That is exactly what I wanted to hear actually, since I want to become a conceptual artist, and am trying to visualize as obvious as possible, so a 3d modeler shouldn't have to guess to much about what goes where.....thanx! :D
I've got some other stuff that I finished ove rthe last couple of days, I"ll put them in a thread soon.

Looking good, what kind of markers do you use? (I mean brand)

Hey man, good to some some more dutch people around here...:p
I've been using Copic markers alot in the past, but I've recently switched to TRIA markers, they're just a bit smoother, and blend better. The ones in this thread are still copic though.
Checked out your biker thread by the way, looks pretty good! :) Got a website I can check out? Just curious!
Back 2 work,

Jaja, vrij veel nederlanders op dit forum trouwens.
Je concepts zijn erg vet moet ik zeggen, nix op aan te merken...maar laat ik maar weer overgaan in t engels, kan de rest t ook volgen ;)
I use tria markers myself for some time now, also used copic, but like you said tria just gets a smoother result and they are very usefull for blending colours.
I still don't have a portfolio-site, so I can't show more work, well I posted some marker-concept art in this thread if you're interested http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=205056
Anywho, keep up the good work mate!

Those look very nice and tidy. I never tried drawing with these markers, but it seems
u can get some nice results with them. Good stuff to make big sketches!
Keep on truckin'
