There's gonna be a lot of sound studios and publishing folks who're gonna freak if Pro Tools and Quark haven't ported over by then...
Hey wait... that's me?!? :D

There'll be no freaking. Classic will still function. In fact according to the release Classic will work even better considering that it will start about twice as fast as in X.
Can anyone confirm this. I'd like to make a case toward upgrading my OS here at work, but I'll have to justify it.
Does Classic really start twice as fast or not in X.II?

It will when 10.3 comes around

This isn't as big of a deal with Quark because you can run it in classic mode. Protools is another issue especially if your working with any of the versions of it that are hardware dependent(midi devices and 20-24 bit audio cards.)

"Digidesign products are not currently compatible with the Mac OS X operating system. Digidesign is actively working with Apple to support OS X, but an expected release date has not been announced."
This is Digidesign's official comment on the issue. If they're that close to Apple then they'll probably ship something for OS/X by the Jan 2003 "deadline".
