View Full Version : Environment: Small mountain village

HI, this is 2-3 hours work so far. I'm not sure how to continue the fields. I want the village to be in a dark shadow (maybe lighted up by fires/lights) while the sun lights the mountainside and the fields.
any comments appreciated

nice, i like the colours, just keep working, more detail i think. its coming along well so far. start to darken the base of the mountain which looms over the village. make the village more part of the scene, it currently sticks out a bit, choose some colours that blend better with the backdrop. I'm likin it so far, looking forward to an update

thanks, that was about what I had in mind, glad you also think so
- fitting village into scene
- darkening left mountain
- add lights

very beautiful, just keep adding details and it will come out a great work. I'm looking forward it :)
Maybe I'd like to increase the size of the village and modify the shape of the left plants, but it's just me. If you keep following your concept it will be great nonetheless.

Hey Garma, I think itīs hard to give any advice īcouse I donīt know the mood you want to. What I can tell you is that I liked, good pallete (remember me the game Out of this World). The actual concept bring me some nostalgic feellings. Keep the good work,

thanks you both.
elessar, as a matter of fact it's grass with a tree and a wooden stick in the ground but that wasn't too clear. I worked on that, added some wires too.
I want the village to be subtle, to make the scene less deserted. I'm still searching for other ways to support that. Maybe some birds or animals. Any idea's?
orozimbo: yea I see what you mean, i'm not sure myself when I started :) but what I have in mind right now is as follows:
The far mountain and the close fields are lighted by a cold sunrise. I think I need more warm colors for that in the fields don't you think? The mountains on the left (invisible) cast shadows on the village, that's why it is in shadow.
so what I still need to do:
- add a little bit more life, make it interesting. Preferably it should also support the composition since it lacks right now.
- give the fields somewhat of a warmer color or touches
any pointers regarding these two points are appreciated very much!
