Hi there!

I've decided to start a painting from scratch.
Here it goes!

01-18-2005, 02:33 AM
Tweaking, making errors and correcting them...It's really nice to do, what I'm doing. Starting with a free line, without thinking on getting an image that is on your head, just drawing lines freely. Then, looking at them and unraveling the lines onto what they suggest to me.

Sorry about this, but I felt that I should share this process. It's really nice to me doing an image this way.

Here's an update:

Any comments?

Hi lula_assassina

like the way u did the head!
Looking forward to the Body n Clothes.

What do you plan for Background?

Thank you!
I'm thinking on doing a mini-tutorial about this technique, if people find it interesting.
About the background, I have no clue on what I'll do. Maybe I'll draw some random lines and see what it suggests to me. But anyway, you have suggestions?

There is a Portuguese verbal expression, "Holding the heart in the hands", and it's when our emotions are very intense, but we are trying everything to control ourselves.
I thought it would be fun.

My 400th post! *sigh!

Small update:

This is how the painture is going.
There's something wrong about the hands, dunno what...

No replies?

Take a look at your hand in the mirror. The big guys thumb (dedo...) dont get so high over the others fingers... It should appear only a little part of it.

Hope it helps...

I was actually speaking about the front guy's hand.
But thank you for the suggestion of the mirror, I was lazy to do it.

lol great soo far on the freak... but as for the hand, i think all it is, is that the thumb should be pointing down... and it should be fine then...

p.s... no mirrors needed, just look at your left hand :P

Small update:

I've made the index finger of his left hand longer and it looks better to me, although I'm reticent about the same hands wrist.

pointing down? Isn't the finger pose too forced, that way? You mean along the hand?
Thank you for posting!

luv for ya all

try bending the index finger a bit..?? or raise it ... dunno

01-22-2005, 12:54 AM
I think the hands fit well in the style of the whole img, if I were you I wouldn't change em, as for the big guys hand: loose the thumb and keep it that way, I think it looks great, keep em comming!

Thank you for the kind post. I'll keep your (and DoInferno's) advice in mind.

About the index finger, I want a determined, direct action. And yet, it's a love action, it's not corrupted with mental schemes or evil. I believe that a bended finger would bring up others questions on the action, wich I don't want.

thank you for posting. luv.

Latest update:

I've decided to remove the monster and to add some pins. I'm getting some problems with the arm on the left.

02-04-2005, 03:19 PM
Well, it seems that I am condemned to not be judged here.
My question is, is this good or wrong? :D

02-04-2005, 04:39 PM
compositionaly speaking, the figure looks a little lost. looking at some of your finished works though i think you will probably fix this with bold colour shapes.
the arm doesn't look right as we can see the elbow is not attatched to anything, if you made it (the arm) stylized 2d and less real looking i don't think it would look as wrong.
i would like to see your choice of colours, i think this will be the imoprtant factor in this image

02-04-2005, 06:10 PM
The arm looks quite good to me, it only misses an upperarm and a sleeve like the other arm.

02-05-2005, 10:29 AM
Thank you for posting!
Seems lost? Great! :D
About the arm, when I wrote that I was having problems with it, it's more about it's volume in the composition instead of a correct human-like proportion.

Thank you for posting again!
I don't think that I should paint the upperarm and sleeve.

02-05-2005, 11:10 AM
I was thinking just a part of the sleeve, just to attach the arm to the body

Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking...

I'm inlove with that suspended arm...
