View Full Version : Freezing shoulders and feet while rotating the root of the character

I would like to have in my character setup a controller to rotate the torso (root) of my character but I would like to freeze the shoulders (and the feet of course) while rotating.

I have seen in one of these online rigs, that they create another skeleton connected with the original character skeleton. from this skeleton they control the root and the rotate of the spine.

Do anyone known how I can setup the spine and the root control for this, or any online tutorials, tips?

I'm not sure what you mean by freeze the shoulder, but you can freeze the feet buy using an IK handle, I think you have to group the IK handle to itself to properly freeze them.

The second skeleton thing is handy, it alows you to have a full bind skeleton, and by duplicating parts of it like the spine for example you can work on a rig for the spine, like a spline IK rig, and when your happy with it, just orient constrain the spine joints of the bind skeleton to their equivelents on your rigged spine skeleton.

this is one is much easier. ( (this link is a bit mad, go to the free stuff folder and find the spline IK bit.)
