View Full Version : First painting ever/Waterfall

welcome to my first CGTalk thread ;)

After I gave up trying to accomplish something with three dimensions, I started with my first digital painting ever (maybe, this suited me better :)). Inspired by a belgian comic book ('De avonturen van Fre Van Der Mugge - Doem aan het zwerk') I started to create this scene.

I'm not sure wat to think of it, so, I'd tough I'd better show it to you guy's :)

Every sort of critique is really appreciated (how the hell do you write critique & appreciated :argh: ), due I really am a beginner :)

I started with PainterIX (demo), but then imported it to Photoshop (which I already know quite good, but, as said, never 'painted' in before).

And a close up of the forest I'm currently working on:

Oh, andeuh, those brown thingies suppose to become rocks ;)

Looking good so far. The only thing I can see that you should keep an eye on as you go is that the perspective isn't 100% consistent. Right now it looks like the closer part is at a larger angle than the farther part. Could just be because it's at an early phase.

Otherwise, nice job! The horizon is very well done already. It looks like you're pretty comfortable with the program indeed. :D

Looks good so far! Nice fresh colors! I agree with supremo on the perspective. Check the flow of water as it gets doesn't seem to be in the same angle...
