I'm working on a complex robotic character and I've run into a problem. I can't model a metal spring that looks right, when I create the dynamic object prymitive it looks very square and needs smoothing. I max out on sides, apply a smooth modifer, and increase my diameter (I need these springs to be tiny), but it always stays square looking. I'm using max 7.

No help? No matter, I figured it out anyway. I had the heighth too low for how many spirals I had which caused a slight cross in the meshes of each spiral. I just decreased my number of spirals and got a good looking spring without a smooth modifier and having only 20 sides.
