Hi. I just met a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and decided to make him a drawn and practice a little. Iīm using Photoshop CS, a god damned "ball" mouse and a ref pic. Iīll post it too, althoug i donīt want the final drawn to be a complete copy of the ref.
As my arms are tired of not having a tablet, decided to post something, before i do more things to it. Critics and comments are very wellcome!
here is the reference:

Looks good so far...i can't really comment yet though as i don't know what you'll change (i.e back, background, etc) but keep up the good work...and remember there are plenty of people here who can give you much much better crits than mine!
(ONE thing so far i could think of is to try and increase the contrast of values.....if all the colours are around the same value, the resultant image tends not to be as appealing to the eye. Look at the best pics here on CGTalk and notice how they use contrast..... that's all i'll say for now without shaming myself!
(I read a book once about colour theory, it said that you can divide a pic up into different values, black, white and blocks of different shades of grey. If they add up to be roughly equal, the picture generally won't be as exciting. As far as I can see he's right. This may be easily seen if you squint your eyes and see the dark/light bits...
(There are some notable exclusions, i.e medical illustrations, are meant to be seen just the way they are but they are taken out of context .) Hope that gave you something to think about! (AND DEFINE THAT LIGHT SOURCE!)

Nice work so far, Perhaps a bit more contrast would give it more form. It looks almost like traditional airbrushing right now.

Well, changed the background. Thanks Paperclip and Exoskeletal for the tips. Hope itīs getting more exciting. One thing i noticed is that with the new background the problems of the character started to show of...
There is still a lot to be done here, so i expect more crits! Donīt be shy, guys!

It's a good idea to use red with blue but i think you will have a hard job with the red lightning in the scene !
And i think the cloud filter in photoshop is a really bad idea: there is no perspective not even a bit of depth.
You should paint it yourself IMO.
But if you do well this could be an awsome picture.
(Sorry for my bad english)
