Title: Ferrari 250 Gto
Name: Zoltan Sostai
Country: Hungary
Software: CINEMA 4D

I decided to model a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Well, what else should I say?:) I hope the images speak for themselves. Modeled and rendered in Cinema 4D v 9 and there is some post work done in Paint Shop Pro 7. It took me about one and a half week to create this. I'll post more images later.

12 December 2004, 07:14 AM
Superb work, congratulations :applause:

12 December 2004, 07:25 AM

A Masterpiece, very very well done mate!
Front page for sure! ;)

my post:

12 December 2004, 08:42 AM
Nagyon szép!
Kéne még egy render hátulról isde így is tökéletes! :)
Egyedüli "probléma", hogy az AA kicsit "rackás" 1-2 helyen!

12 December 2004, 08:48 AM
Thanks for the replies. I've just uploaded some other views, here they are:

12 December 2004, 08:56 AM
five stars :)

12 December 2004, 10:05 AM
superb model!

i loved it,the last one is awesome.
can u post a wire,(just to learn more)
and i just dont agree with the bump map of the ground, some parts looks opposite bump mapped.

12 December 2004, 10:10 AM
nothing to say.

5 star!

12 December 2004, 10:23 AM
Superb work! Frontpage stuff for sure!

EXCELLENT work! :argh:

12 December 2004, 10:24 AM
Brilliant modelling and an excellent render.

12 December 2004, 11:03 AM
Perfect model of a perfect car ! 5 stars !

12 December 2004, 11:39 AM
Excellent work:

Perfect model, perfect environment
Only one minor crit, edges a bit "edgy"
Try put up the anti antialiasing or increase res

Keep up the high quality work - hope you get something for this fine piece

12 December 2004, 12:27 PM
I've seen a lot of photoreal cars here but thats one of the best I've ever seen. Someone should take it to the frontpage, it's not a usual Audi TT we can see every day. 5 stars from me bud:buttrock:

In hungarian: K**va jó!

12 December 2004, 02:18 PM
Great work. These reflections, and so much detils. Chrome elements are winning!

12 December 2004, 02:41 PM
This is incredible!

The only thing I would echo is that it would probably help to increase the AA. In the first post, the hood edges are a bit jagged... and you can see a bit of that in the other post as well.

I would also love to see the wires for this one!

Well done!

12 December 2004, 02:53 PM
It can only be described as fantastic. Perfectly photo-real and nice effects on the burn out shot. Great car choice too. The classics.

12 December 2004, 03:50 PM
Superb nothing to say here! So realistic! and its a very difficult car to make to, You did a great job!:applause:

12 December 2004, 07:14 PM

Beautiful picture!! Great lighting -reflections...

nagyon szép munka- jó ilyen magas színvonalú Magyar melókat látni..

12 December 2004, 07:36 PM
Yes really good modeling and rendering. However I find the carpaint a bit too reflective.

12 December 2004, 09:06 PM
Thanks to all of you. For the crits and for the stars as well:)

12 December 2004, 11:32 AM
Very beautiful work. May we see a wire, please ?

12 December 2004, 12:30 PM !!!
And it's a FrontPage work!!!
My favorite are the first and the fourth image...

Keep it up!

12 December 2004, 02:17 PM
That's a really great job. How much time did it take to create it? Congrats!

12 December 2004, 09:14 PM
Beatutiful, 5 stars. How much modelling time did that take you?

12 December 2004, 09:16 PM
Wow...gorgeous work, supremacy. Lighting & render is especially fine. Probably the best photo-realistic piece I've seen with Cinema 4D. Any chance you could throw a couple of hints our way? :)

12 December 2004, 11:37 PM
I'm currently working on a full car modeling/shading/lighting tutorial for Cinema 4D which is based mainly on this scene. This will include a detailed shader descprition too and I'll post it here in the Cinema 4D thread a bit later.

The modeling took about 5 days but I wasn't working all the time. The shading/lighting process took only a few hours because I had used some similar shaders and scene setups for other models earlier, so there was no need to create everything from the start.

You're a star, supremacy, many thanks. I've been tearing my hair out trying to get the 'right' look out of Cinema. Once again, beautiful work mate

01 January 2005, 10:19 PM
Simply great! Good shading and modeling as well. Keep up the good work! :bounce:

01 January 2005, 08:20 PM
You've heard it all before... It's Fanboy of me, but....

Looks like you got your renderer REALLY working for you!

Perfect "Classic Ferrari Color" too! Most would'nt dig as deep and would have "slapped-on" some RED garb.

01 January 2005, 09:12 PM
Excellent piece of work! Definately front page work. You really did this car justice, great modelling, wonderful texturing, and perfect render! :buttrock:

01 January 2005, 10:22 PM
 Wow.... that is by far one of THE most photorealistic renders i've ever seen. Absolutely amazing. if i could, 10 out of 5 stars

:) Hi....
...very reality model and render
LOL I do not obtain make this :D

01 January 2005, 10:00 AM
- Where's the motion blur ( animation? ) on the back tyres? Or is the car just on fire?

- the whole door also looks a bit flat, as if it doesn't realy match the contours of the actual body.

- the creases all over the body look too sharp. Panel edges, especially on older cars like those found in my enourmous collection of ferraris, are usually a bit more rounded.

- it seems like you need to sort out some of the topology around the corners of your windows. There are a few few little 'hey look this is 3D' style creases.

- it's too good. You make me feel like throwing my PC at my flatmate. Please refrain from posting work of this quality in the future.

01 January 2005, 11:15 AM
- - it's too good. You make me feel like throwing my PC at my flatmate. Please refrain from posting work of this quality in the future.

:scream: I agree ! This is too good. Make it a little more 'CG ' looking so that the rest of us can catch up to you.
Five stars . No complaints. One of the most photoreal images I have seen to date.

01 January 2005, 02:37 PM
Look, I'm using cinema 4d 9XL also but I couldn't catch realism like this one, 7 stars bud! I thought only Maya and Max users can catch this realism. Thats why I was planning to learn Maya to modeil in Cinema 4D and render in Maya:) Could you please tell us your tutorials link in your site if you have one, or could you create a pdf file. I'm modelling but when I render its look like worse than amateurs:(

01 January 2005, 08:25 PM
I agree with everybody - 5 stars Excellent work:

01 January 2005, 04:33 PM
Hey, great work! I really like the burnout image!

Gratula, tetszik! Nem tokeletes az auto (melyik az? :) ), de elegge egyben van, raadasul Cinemaval! A Burnout nagyon utos!

Udv, neu

01 January 2005, 06:39 PM
5 Stars! Great work and it's nice to see, that there some guys outside of Germany, who work with Cinema...

01 January 2005, 09:57 AM
Yes really good modeling and rendering. However I find the carpaint a bit too reflective.

You gotta be kidding. Those are pretty much as accurate as it can get. :p

01 January 2005, 09:32 PM

01 January 2005, 01:52 PM
This just in from Myth Busters, all Ferraris are not red! This is a great piece of work. The paint texture of the body is excellent. It is deep and rich, giving the car a feeling and depth that is strived for on the Pebble Beach concourse.

01 January 2005, 06:50 AM
Good work!

01 January 2005, 10:30 AM
kickass G_R_E_A_T work, supermacy...:applause:

01 January 2005, 05:51 AM

01 January 2005, 08:21 AM
great work on a legend like 250 GTO! would you mind sharing a couple of wireframes with us?

01 January 2005, 11:50 AM
Nagyon komoly :) Egyszerűen gyönyörű! Csodálatos munka! ;)

01 January 2005, 12:21 PM
wow it's very good job but this muffer tips don't convincion me!!!

01 January 2005, 03:32 PM
I have a couple of remarks(just to be picky):

-It would look even better with more AA.
-The edges of the cutouts/holes in the panels seam to be a little too sharp.
-The transition on the rear fender between the door and the bulge over the rear wheel looks a little odd.
-The chrome on the rims and mufflers are a bit too reflective.
-The bump on the text on the tires is to high.
-I think the background looks a little bit desaturated or the car a bit too saturated to match completely.

All this IMHO.

I love the paint and its overall an amazing piece!

01 January 2005, 09:01 PM
excuse my newbie ignorance: is the background digital as well? i cannot really tell that the image is digital. it is so perfect.

01 January 2005, 12:19 AM
my god i love it

its this kind of work that make me stick to my pc to learn more
and even a tutorial in c4d its too much thanks alot:bounce:

01 January 2005, 12:19 AM
Just beautiful, love the smoking tires shot! Great work!

01 January 2005, 02:21 AM

01 January 2005, 07:15 AM

I'd like to see some wireframes please!

01 January 2005, 04:14 PM

01 January 2005, 04:45 PM

02 February 2005, 07:48 PM

Five stars from me.

02 February 2005, 11:22 PM

02 February 2005, 08:39 AM
Wicked renders! :)
There's a little 'glitch' on top of the windshield, but nothing too serious. Good stuff!

02 February 2005, 09:20 AM
The best piece of CG ive ever seen

Do you have a wire? no one is believing me that its a CG car, they are saying a its definitly a photoshop render... so proove them wrong !

02 February 2005, 11:37 PM
I like your perspective setting... Background setup was also nice, since it is far away from the car, it doesn't bother sharp edges of the car... Good work...

02 February 2005, 06:50 AM
Please do a little animation..

02 February 2005, 03:45 PM
Nice car and ambience.

02 February 2005, 04:45 AM
Would you mind if I posted this over on the FerrariChat message boards? I'm sure they would love to see this.

In general the Ferrari 250 GTO is have some errors, the logo plate in the hood are too big and it´s not so little, and the shields from sides you only mapped...and look so false. It´s better that you need to model in 3d mesh and attach, so are thick no too big.

The contour of the shields are in silver and ths cavallino have some details in silverr too.

The cavallino in the front dash are not so big and DOESN´t beveled.

02 February 2005, 12:09 AM
Really great job. This mortal can't wait for the tutorial. Well done!

02 February 2005, 12:52 AM
The only thing missing is the BURNED RUBBER on the ground!
It is an excellent homage to the "prancing horse." It would especially
interesting to see version with the car rendered in classic red;
you might also consider adding the bright decal on the fender
and the other distinctive touches that are so popular within the marque.

02 February 2005, 05:49 PM
Well, this a really impressing, beautifull work!:buttrock:

02 February 2005, 01:19 AM
Thats just crazy man. I appreciate people like you who pull off stuff like this. I'm modeling an M3 right now using Maya. I'm fine tuning the outside and finishing up on the inside. I will be texturing it too. Hopefully it will look as good as yours. You did an excellent job...thats what you call photo-real modeling.

02 February 2005, 11:44 AM
fantastic work.
is it NURBS? or poly? whats the poly count? triangles count, that is.....

great job.

03 March 2005, 01:41 PM

03 March 2005, 04:22 PM

 Beautiful

10 October 2005, 02:54 AM
The strong point for sure is the composition. How did you get the texture for the car?

-your should have your next car model be an f430 spider or an enzo

12 December 2005, 09:31 PM
where is wire I cant see?is it your model ?

04 April 2006, 06:31 PM
