View Full Version : Mobile Assault

I recently finished my first cell-shaded computer graphic work, Mobile Assault. I really wanted to focus on animation here, and I tend to go crazy with the modeling/texturing/lighting and then stall out on the animation. So I reversed the process, the cell shading allowed for a good look using low-poly geometry. Click an image below for a high-res version.

Have a look, tell me what you think. I do plan on working on this one more at a later time, so any suggestions are appreciated so I can improve the piece.

Hey is that blender? that was pretty good usually i hate all the toon shading in CG but the pulled it off pretty well, the animation was all right except for the walk which didnt seem that fluid.

one thing i have to say that stuck out really badly for me was when the traffic light thing fell to the ground, it didnt look at all natural, good work on the rest, i would also work on the squashing of clars, it seems like it floats down onto them

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for not specifing, I used Maya to animate and the Maya Vector to render the main scene, and then Maya Software to render the flames.
I'll try improving the stoplight and the car squish when I pick this project up again, thanks.
Any other comments are appreciated.

Excellent work here, just the three things mentioned above. The Assault vehicle rises too early when it crushes the car delay that a sec and it will look more natural. The lamp post seems to fall at a constant speed, it should speed up slightly as it falls. In the walk cycle either the right leg is too fast or the left leg is too slow, makes it seem like it has a limp (you can only notice this from the side shot, the front shot disguises it.) Hope this helps,

I like it but yeah try to make the walk cycle evenly not one leg going faster than the other. Also when the car is squashed lol it would look better if the windows smashed instead of just goign in with the car.And last but not least the lamp post...Try to make it speed up on the end also when the two stoplights hit the groung make em' bounce a lil'.My crits lol.Anyway other than that I like it and want to see more.
