View Full Version : Z-painter, Krishnamurti M. Costa (antropus) (3D)
12-23-2004, 01:20 AM
Name: Krishnamurti M. Costa (antropus)
Country: United States
This is a piece that I created time ago for Pixologic/Zbrush as an advertisement for Cinefex Magazine number 100 (page 92). Here I can show a little bit more of details that you can't see in the printed version. Every model, textures and render were done using the great Zbrush 2.0. Everything was done in 3D, except for the hair that I created in 2D using the amazing "deco brush" in ZBrush. All the textures were painted using texture master. I also used different materials/shaders for the same objects. For the face I used 5 different shaders to add different levels of specularity to the skin. For everything I used a little bit of the great Sokar's skin shader as base, that you can download from pixolator forum. I used PS just for the final comp and color adjustments.
I hope you enjoy,

great details as usual is that your own face? :D
I agree about the the brush strokes on his clothes being a bit looking like patern... random on size and placement would be nice.

Hi, i may be back combing the general opinon here but i really dont think this image is that great. I mean its got a very impressive ammount of detail, alot better than i could do, even though i see myself as more of a 2d artist, still in the early learning stages at that. But the way people are talking on here, its as though you've made a super realistic human or the most inspiring piece of artwork this century, but ive seen much better. His pose is very unnatural, the hair on his moustache grows really weird, his body is really simple and also looks unnatural. Overall i think the composition and colours are pretty bland and uninteresting, with a pretty basic concept. Artistically I think this work no way reaches the quality of work i've seen from you in the past.

Each time I see some work done in Zbrush I simply sigh... The details are absolutely incredible. I do agree with the strange hair thing, but it's only visible on closeups.
I'm not really familiar with Z-brush... is it possible to animate somethin' with that amount of details?

Hey Costa !
Nice to see you again ! really good work !
This is the "picasso" project you talked about in the zbrush site, isn't it ?
12-24-2004, 12:18 PM
WOW...great job man!!! you are inspirating me....
i can't wait your tutorial......
12-24-2004, 07:17 PM
Thanks again guys.
yeah man. Do you remember that I can't use the Picasso image or likeness because of the copyright thing? So, to make the deadline for the magazine I had to turn him into another painter but keeping the same idea. As I changed lots of things in his face and clothes and because it's not based in any real face I had a lot of freedom to play with different things. I still have to finish the Picasso portrait that is hardest than this one because I have to follow all the details that I can see in the pictures that I have as reference. I'll try to finish Picasso's Portrait until the end of January.
