Hey everyone!, I found out that I got accepted to my schools (Seneca Colllege) 3d gaming program for january!!!

The program is only 8 months and its associated with a lot of game companies here in toronto and im soooooo excited!!:bounce: I went through some pretty intense interivews and tests to get in and didnt think I'd make it but I did.

I attribute the amount of skill I've gained to this point to this forum and everyone in it. Seeing other peoples works who are better then mine has forced me to push on and reach my next plateau.

Thank you Everyone!

Great entries so far.

DoInferno: try dropping a shadow on your character to make it feel like hes firmly planted on the ground.

I've been missing out on the daily sketches cause I took a second job for a while, and then I just had to move apartments last week... now things are settling down so you will probably see more of me again. ;)

Just a quick one today. This topic reminded me of the time that my exams were over and I was so excited to be able to party ... and then fell asleep halfway through the first beer.

I never liked finals....they're hell! Alice, I like yours......esp. the 'no one home' expression on his face! Cageron....very haunting....Zng-Y, good atmosphere but you might want to tone down the volumetric light!!! DoInferno, now I know where you got your name from...Plagiarism, good idea & I like the expression on his about some shadows on the desk though?! TheNR...I've actually been in that situation, except it was the badminton finals and I WAS PLAYING! Wasn't a good day, can you tell?? Shane.....we've all been there, except I was the one in the back room snuggled up against my man who was bored stiff! Cecile, very french! lol. I like your colours & style... well, here's my effort, 20 mins photoshop, mouse....c & c welcome! Now, I just KNOW that FridayEve and Vitrolic are going to post right after me so to both of them I SAY WHERE ARE YOUR TUTORIALS, GUYS? It's mean of you to keep us waiting!

12 December 2004, 03:24 AM
hey paperclip, yours is weird but realy nice, that mood is cool man! What did u ment by: "but you might want to tone down the volumetric light!!!" Not that i dont want to understand, but wich lightning do u mean? (my english is good enough for basic stuff :D) Thank's for your comment, appreciate that! (if its spelled right:D)

12 December 2004, 03:54 AM

1:30, photoshop + wacom

12 December 2004, 04:43 AM
Volumetric lighting is very bright lighting which lights up the little particles floating in the air-- it makes the picture look a little TOO foggy (Mist? Ik ken een eerlijk beetje het Duits maar niet veel Nederlands, droevig!)

12 December 2004, 05:51 AM
This is how I always ended up after finals... well maybe not that extreem...

Pencil, scan, Illustrator+Wacom=2hr

Man I have to learn how to draw all over again with this Wacom! and forget about painting with it... of course I don't paint with PS very well to begin with... heh.

12 December 2004, 06:30 AM

I do all I can to help promote global peace...:D Vrolijke Kerstmis!

12 December 2004, 05:11 PM
Vitriolic! Your Sketc is almost a finishef piece! 1:30h??? How do you do it man???? I agree with everyone who asks for a tutorial from Vitriolic and FridayEve. They Rock!

12 December 2004, 05:55 PM
Here's what I think they do: start off with a black background, rough in the colors of the background with med. opacity brushes, get another layer, rough out the shapes in a dark color then build up with low opacity brushes. I think first they define the major light sources (using overlay?) then work it up until they have a nearly greyscale image, then put in the colors using screen and lowish opacity (20-30%?). Add a dash of skill, talent and years working and there you go! Vitrolic's way of working! I think Friday Eve is similar, except he uses colors for the bases rather than a dark color... am I right guys?

12 December 2004, 07:46 PM
Hehe... Thatīs really funny MichaaelMotion!

12 December 2004, 10:56 PM
paperclip: pretty close mate! :D Using a wacom tablet eliminates the need for setting brush opacities for the most part - you can just apply pressure for that. As for the specifics of screen and overlay modes, I used overlay a bit on the guy's eye but other than that it was pretty much all done in normal brush mode with threee colours - blue, black and white. (oh yeah and the red blood, duh.) Still not settled on a particular technique though; the DSG is a great place to play around with these kinds of things. I personally would really like to see some more 'paint in the style of X' topics, where X could be a famous painter or one of our fine resident DSG artists (*cough* Friday *cough* Goro *cough*) :)

12 December 2004, 01:17 AM
Great idea Vitrolic!! I really like that idea, paint in the style of another CGTalk member....all we have to do now is wave & hope RobertOrtiz notices:bounce: ....that would be fun indeed. Thanks for posting how you work and i see fridayEve did too, today must be my lucky day!
