Nice sketches everyone, Ive seen some nice work up in here this last week, Ive been to busy to participate but I still love looking at everyone's stuff.

Guess what? I got a job doing graphic design! My first job making art! whoo hoo and they are actually going to pay me! I had my second interview yesterday and I got it! I just wanted to say that half of the stuff in my porfolio were some of the daily sketches I have done here, my new boss liked the idea of a daily practice, cool huh?

12-17-2004, 01:08 PM
Hey Cyanid, haven't seen a Daily from you in a while.

That's a good one Vitriolic! Just what I imagined, Santa's son is a spoiled brat :)

Friday, this one is a bit more dynamic (boy's expression) than usual

Erilaz, good job, you could've cropped the image to get a better composition.

Cecile, that's sooo funny! I had a real laugh.

Good job all!

Oh, Sagi congratulations with the new job! :deal:

12-17-2004, 01:54 PM

12-17-2004, 08:26 PM
Dolnferno -- Nice one! I like the hunched shoulders.
cecile -- Too funny.

Sagi -- Congratulations on your new job. What a great Christmas surprise!

erilaz -- Don't worry, because Santa can fly backwards around the earth and turn back time! BTW, the bird's eye view and the rain are an excellent touch.
drawMonger -- Looks like the kid is saying, "I'm number one!"

12-17-2004, 10:28 PM
thank so much for your nice wishes.. :) it is a great christmas suprise indeed.

12-17-2004, 11:01 PM
Yay! Go Sagi! (Somehow I missed that before!)

You rooock!:buttrock:

12-17-2004, 11:52 PM
FridayEve: your stuff is impressive. You have to post a tutorial on how you work sometime.

I took a different take on Santa's Grandson. I was rasied to believe Santa Claus was an earthly mage, not so much a Christmas spirit. So my impression of his grandson is that he too, is old in appearance. However, instead of desiring goodwill towards all, he feels his family power should be used for self benefit. So he lives in solitude in some cave, miserable. With all good there must be evil, I guess. :-)

Photoshop. Roughly 2 hrs work.

12-18-2004, 12:21 AM
"Im sorry son, It doesnt seem like grandpa has time for the family this year either..."

Photoshop cs 1, 5 hours

12-18-2004, 01:29 AM
Alice, he's sooooo cute ... and sad ... but hey it's life.

FridayEve, I'm always stunt on so little time it takes you to make it so detail. do you draw first and scan? or straight on the computer? also, I wonder, When people start these kind of painting, do you start on black background or white?

Vitriolic, that one is my favourite I also like the mix with pencil and paint-like colour and drawMonger, at first I thought it was a little chicken the elfe-woman was holding ... but then again maybe not ;) ...very good the reference to jabba

oh and thanks for the nice comments everybody, always very appreciated. This forum rocks
right I'm all ready for xmas now

12-18-2004, 01:44 AM

Hi Sagi,
Congrats on the new Job.

12-18-2004, 06:49 AM
Cecile- I just sketch on the computer. I almost like it more than using a pencil now.
depending on what i plan to paint, I like to start with a toned background. I try to pick a color that will influence the rest of the paining. I like to start dark and bring up the values like using oils. I saved a sequence for this topic and will try to get a web page made up this weekend. I will post the link with that days sketch-

12-18-2004, 10:30 AM

About 3.5 hours, wacom & ps
Vitriolic, Santa's grandson thought you might like a Christmas present to get you a holiday mood. I suggested holiday music (Pavarotti or Peanuts). Seriously, here's wishing you a merry Christmas.

12-21-2004, 08:15 AM
aw shucks, thanks ilikesoup and merry christmas to you too! (misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)
