Been working on this in my free time, used David waldens awsome rigging tools for the squash n stretch action.. http://www.davidwalden.com (http://www.davidwalden.com/) and used mayas dynamic hair and SSS systems in the render. Any comments welcome.

I loved the first one... a lot of reminissing on that song. The animation was really great for the style too. The second one didn't work though. Looked to me like the link wa broken.

Cracking stuff, just a shame it's so short - hope you're gonna carry this on! The character's fluid movement and flexibility work very well.

First one is impressive:)I love your animation.

Thanks for the kind words guys..
pic2230- well hopefully ill get back to this animation, for now i think i need a strong acting piece with less wild motion.. but i definitly would love to finish this one day.
I Did a screen capture rig demo for this guy for my reel.. i dont really know how clear it is.. what do you guys think? http://www.paxtongerrish.com/vids/rigdemo.avi

Those were great, and inspiriring. I love to see the variety of animation styles out there.
however the link to the rigging video didn't work..

Excellent, excellent. Strong poses. You might want to have him hold still for more than a few milliseconds if you go on to animate the rest of the song. That much insane motion can get tiring to watch. Just work in some moving holds and rhythm between fun bouncy motion and strong holds on strong poses. I know... its only 9 seconds and Im speculating about the rest of the 2 or 3 minutes... but watch that... is my my advice.

the characters are great and the breakdancing must have been a challenge, but what you have is amazing, beastie boys are plenty intersting to animate to as well, the only thing i could say was the weight transferrance on the hop bit at the start of the 6th sec. looked a bit odd, but definitely not bad... and the feet sliding on the 10th an 11th sec, but i'm sure you have it under control :)
the skip cycle was great also, really enjoyable to watch, you get a proper sense of his mood, and as the rest it was so satisfyingly fluid.
loving your style, can't wait for more...
btw the bboy.mov link was dodgy for me, as once d/l'ed it didn't play at correct framerate... but the .avi playblast file was fine.

That's pretty darn amazing! Wow, "Paul Revere". That takes me back to my junior highschool days. At one point I could rap that song in my sleep. hehe.
One idea you might consider, right now he's kinda moving in a spaz. Maybe, when you get to the parts of the song that are sung by MCA or AdRock, you could change the way the character moves. Like, when he's doing MCA, perhaps you could give him a more "cool" low-key motion. As if he was "channeling" the ghosts of the 3 members(not that any of them are dead).

Man, you've got to finish this! What you've got so far rocks and the introduction to the rest of the characters is sweet, maybe there is a suitable cut point a bit further on? btw can't access the rigging vid either...

this is some really great animation. my only advise is that sometimes less is more. what i mean is that the character is doing so much that it is hard to really focus on one part, one pose at times.
one thing i noticed that you prolly know is that there are some forearm flipping issues, the most noticable on the first clip when he grabs his chin. I experienced this once, it was the IK not properly bound to its controller.
