Well, call me the cuttin' corners man. I threw together a sub-d human hand and a very Spartan mechanical hand. I need to get this guy animated, so I chose to put in some imperfect but passable substitutes for hands, as I did with the textures. I'll spend more time with the face blendshapes to make him quite expressive.
Here are the hands....next post will be the cyborg minus his cloth and some textures.......
Your character is very good.

Has this thread really been going on since August!?! I never noticed it before (and i wish I had). Im thinking of jumping in and trying guyjins model. It looks really cool, and very challenging. I'll give it a shot in my spare time. I hope this thread stays around for a while.

Ive seen this thread before, and I was wondering why it was sticky.... so I checked it out again, and I been lookin' around; good stuff here. I plan to upload one of my drawings for you guys.... hopefully it wont be too detailed (it might just be eye candy, not sure if you modeler can handle my drawings! :D)
LOL, actually... it'll prolly suck, who knows. Next time I get access to a scanner (mine is broken) I'll upload it!
03 March 2003, 12:15 PM
Hmmm well Its always good to have some more pics t00 try out!
Just try and make Side,Front and hopefully back views they REALLY help in the modeling process and after i completed my last cyborg im itching to try another!
03 March 2003, 12:48 AM
ROFL, you'd be surprised how hard it is to find a god damn scanner these days... maybe my brother got his working, Ill call him now. Hehe, I wanna scan this! :D
03 March 2003, 12:35 PM
is the challenge still running?
did nobody started modelling roels cyborg or did i just overread it?
if nobody started this and if the challenge is still running, i would like to use roels reference :)
03 March 2003, 01:14 PM
now as this challenge is more or less closed i think i still have to add my incomplete realisation - i started to model GUYJINS cyborg as a way to improve my modeling skills - i had to realize that i totally sucked and it took me on a long journey to research several modeling approaches
the image below is showing where i stopped five months ago - (quite incomplete - some things not even mirrored or bended - shame on me) - maybe i'll gather myself and restart this project as GUYINS cyborg is really awesome and i wish i could start my gallery with this model
this mini challenge was a really great idea - i am looking forward to the next one
03 March 2003, 05:33 PM
Teh Chromecyborg w0nders if any 0ne actually liked his model of the cyborg here?
I mean Me thought it twas g00d but errr.........well..............i didn't quite get the response i uhh was *hoping* for.......................
So c0m0n d0nt j00 like it?!?
03 March 2003, 09:11 PM
thats how far i got today :)
i have to add more details and paint the textures...
03 March 2003, 08:26 PM
I've moved this Cyborg Challenge to the Collaborative forum because it's a good thread for modellers looking for 2D concepts. If you don't know ... we've already begun the second across the board challenge (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47261).
03 March 2003, 07:09 AM
Heya! Cool pic Picster. Only one question what are the cool pipe organ stacks on the back for? Just your typical concpet artist to artitst question. Personaly I actually get away with some designs with my CG clients inless they actually have a purpose planned for some aspects of the design.
Just curious.
04 April 2003, 01:46 AM
can i take these home with me theyr awsome!!!!!
04 April 2003, 05:46 PM

05 May 2003, 06:43 PM
Is this thread still alive i just wanted to know cause i want to try and do some models.
05 May 2003, 09:44 PM
too late? I was wondering if it is too late to throw in another concept. This robot is a military bot. http://www.layerten.com/art/robot.jpg:surprised
06 June 2003, 10:40 AM
Well, until the thread dissappears or we find a suitable replacement ... go for it :wip:
You can always dig it back up when it becomes unsticky.
06 June 2003, 05:30 AM
does anyone wanna model my robot?
04 April 2004, 02:58 PM
here's mine ^^
04 April 2004, 03:09 PM
Very nice Kabyll. Except that you're posting a robot, not a cyborg. And it's your own design, not one from the concepts in this thread. And the challenge has ended about a year ago.
