"Christmas Greeting Cards"

His idea:
"...and then, if authors allow it, we could send to friends original cards designed by DS members... :) what do you think about it?
I don't know if it's too soon (just 4th dec), but I thought about it after seeing some avatars already in Xmas-mode...

12-08-2004, 03:38 AM
I hope you don't mind me posting this. I have absolutely no time right now, but I wanted to share this. It was originally done in 2000 and then I recreated in Xara in 2002, then posting it in 2004. Maybe I will be able to sell it in 2006 to some huge card company. Wonderful submissions!

Christmas Greetings...

Really rushed for time so reused this drawing which was my very first drawing in PS a couple years ago (pre Wacom). Made some edits and adjustments, about 30 min. PS/Wacom.

FridayEye: he looks a little angry like he's saying "see this pole? It is mine and you can't have it!"

I went to a local coffee shop to check the place out and sketch a little bit since my pencils have been gathering dust lately. Here are my sketches. I didn't turn any of them into a finished card but I'm sure you could easily imagine what they'd look like given the Hallmark touch...

wow, drawMonger, you put everything into your card that I wanted to and couldn't think of to put in... Nice stuff :)

PS, Wacom, 2 hours

12-08-2004, 10:28 AM
Great job all!

Hey Drawmonger, cool Santa! And a bit nasty to, heehee...
Good job mate.

Russel, love the cactus. You should crop that and make that the card.

Goro, you're too funny lately ;)

Hope I'll have some time tonight to make a card.

12-08-2004, 11:53 AM
Art2: actually, a cutesy card with something like that would be a bit of a holiday change of pace for what I usually do with Christmas Cards...

Here's something I did for my college newspaper back in the day. I've typically played around with themes that would fit a college newspaper better than a Hallmark Gift Shop in the mall ;)

Opencanvas 1.1, took maybe 1h 30min or so

and here is the wpe (http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/sketches/Xmas.zip), if anyone is interested

This one ended up quite serious, or at least unoriginal... I might do another one more humoristic later

nice work everybody!

12-08-2004, 12:30 PM
Russell, those are very colorful and flavored I presume ;)
(you college kids...)

12-08-2004, 01:42 PM
my second post today, the idea is not mine, I saw something similar some time ago, and it was so funny I thought I could make my own version... so, maybe I'm breaking the rules (no plagiarzing, etc), but I'm posting it anyways

pencil, scan, photoshop, took somthing more than 1h

Russell, that elf expression is great!

12-08-2004, 02:49 PM
Here is my card... this is my first post.

Ink Pen / Photoshop CS 1.5 hrs

12-08-2004, 03:32 PM

Beh my card was supposed to convey a sleepy santa blowing a kiss and wishing you a dreamy holiday; After posting it looks like she is dead. Eeeeek thats not my intention at all. For me the holiday will be time for me to catch up on my zzzzzzzzs; 1.5 hours painter 9.

12-08-2004, 10:23 PM
acrylic and photoshop 1.5 hrs

Merry Christmas everyone!

It was actually not originally intended to be a Christmas card per se as it was an illustration accompanying an article by a columnist at the newspaper. I wish I had saved a digital copy of the text since it was hilarious. Basically, the guy who wrote it has an aunt who works at a fertility clinic and rather than fill their pinata with candy one year, this well-meaning aunt absentmindedly grabbed what she thought was a bowl of candy from her office. Needless to say, add unsuspecting family and very disappointed children, mix well and you have a recipe for one of those stories that gets funnier each time you think about it.

12-15-2004, 10:34 PM
2 h, pencil & paper, wacom, photoshop

i had a dram of time left and couldn't get a good idea for the "brochure" topic, so i decided to make a christmas card instead. i like elmasfeos idea of the greeting cards very much. yesterday i watched "the nightmare before christmas", so my card is a little bit inspired by these great movie...:)
i don't know if this is breakin' the rules, because no "tributes" or plagiarizing are allowed..:?
if this is the case, kick my card out, Roberto.

with kind regards

12-16-2004, 09:53 PM

Sorry this is late, but then so are all my other Christmas cards. :) About 2 hrs.
