This animation is only a quick dialogue piece for lipsync and facial animation. The skin shader consists of the lightengine3D sss shader for mental ray as well as the dirtmap ambient occlusion shader. Thanks to the creators of both for these truly great shaders. The textures are hand painted and the render was comp'd on top of the backdrop in Photoshop.

Nice model!

The only critism I can give you is the expression. He looks a bit to "happy" while he should be furious!

I like it! A little floaty. Might want to make it snap a little more, such as when the head pulls up as he says, "if they ever show their faces..."

A little reworking on the animation. As well, bump maps have been added to the squint, brow and snarl blends.

hey I was wondering if you could give some render times for the animation? I haven't used the lightengine3d SSS plugin and I just wanted to get an idea. Ofcourse what machine it was render on too. any other related info you can provide would be awesome.

The animation was rendered on a Dual Opteron 2.2 ghz Boxx with 2 gigs RAM and Quadro FX 3000. The animation took around 3+ hours to render. Depending on what you use it gets worse...this animation does not have Final Gathering so it took less time. I really like the speed of the LightEngine Plugin. I'm rendering in Mental Ray also, which the MR version of the plugin is 8x faster probably.

yeah that's pretty fast for the whole animation. it looks great, especially with not usung final gather. Did you use any environment reflections or anything?

oh and by the way...great job!

but here is an image with some HDR reflections in the well Final Gather is used from HDR...
The textures and skin shader have been greatly improved since the first generation animation that is posted...I want to animate to a different clip, and do it better...
