Beautiful scene! I really love the sky and lighting on the city. Aside from small details like maybe some smoke trails for the fires, this looks excellent. I am a big fan of the Prince of Persia game too, you guys did an incredible job with the artwork :applause: That's why I bought it afterall :)

I like it a lot. Seems to be a good idea to combine the backlight of the sunset with the light of the torches in the shadow area. Very impressive.
Olny Crit: The water in the foregrounc looks a bit loveless.
But encourages me even more to go studying some time abroad in Quebec/Montreal

Great work.

I am looking forward to seeing the destroyed version!

Yeah, it is beautiful! But... there is one small historical fact. If this is Babylon, There should be The Istarian gate (It is blue with golden dragon an lions,...), It's repilc can be seen in Beriln museum (I think). So it is all. It is not a critic... It is really beautiful image. I mean it seriously!

he he merci Nuro Fen, tes dessins aussi sont super bons :)

you're right Mirwen for the original blue door in Babylon, but its a Fantasy version of babylon... and you know that original colours in ancient architecture are so saturated that it is not in the mood... very often so we have to distort historical references :P

Your work is complete eyecandy to me - thankyou! :)
I'm also a big fan of 'POP Sands of time' and currently sat at my desk twiddling my thumbs in anticipation for the sequel to arrive today! I was just reading an interview with Nicolas Bouvier (in 3dworld mag) reg. the speed-painting techniques used to create the concept artwork for Warrior Within. Interesting stuff!
Sorry but I've got to take the opportunity... a big virtual beer to everyone who worked on both titles.

12 December 2004, 09:58 PM
hey this is great... wonderful rendering and awesome lighting.. the geometries somewhere looks bit low poly and the edges dont seem to have highlights, i eman it looks to cornery. btw u got an amazing job done here.. i really liked the detail u put into this art.. i spacially like ur bamboo structures on the top of that big building... very well done.. keep it up mate...

12 December 2004, 04:07 PM
It's the lighting overall that makes this shot - looks great! I don't believe the edges are too sharp in this case, as overcontrast suggests......if you were nearer I'd agree, but you don't always see that kind of detail, unless it's pretty gross, from these distances.

But the flames in the torches by the waterside - they look too pointed, too much like candle flames. The sense I get is that these are really large, the actual objects I mean, but the flames don't seem to sit well with those structures or be believable.

I keep seeing posts about your water, but I was out for a walk yesterday near my local reservoir, and that water looked naturally busier than yours. I think this image is superb and I hope that you continue to produce such wonderful work for all of the rest of us to cry at its beauty.:)

12 December 2004, 12:42 PM
huh when do you get to read all these reply's :)
overall look is really impressive...only plastic thing that I noticed are those far mountains on the left side with that castle...maybe a little fog or dof there and some not so flat texture on the mountain would improve the final look...but this is just extra extra detail...
the image looks great:thumbsup:

Mirwen
12 December 2004, 01:05 PM
Yeh you are right about that. And in historical facts, the Babylon tower was no a tower, but zikkurat. But you are right... it is fantasy, not duplicate of city Babylon. :-)

I am really loving this piece- the image is breathtaking and the lighting is ON POINT (perfect)!! gorgeous!

Only crit I have, is that the angles of the spiral building and the top of the one immediately in front of it appear to be a bit awkward. (However I am not familiar with the game.)

It'd make a gorgeous desktop image. Lookin fwd to more works from ya.

Awesome image! Almost hurts the eyes to look at it. Must of taken forever for one man to make - how many hours?

One question though? I don't understand the angle of the light that's casting shadows on the people in the courtyard. It's not coming from the sun, so is there another source?
