Here are 2 out of 5 shots we did for a german commercial of a water boiler.
Due to the short timeline we decide to do everything with Max.
Even the wateranimation is handmade. No precalculated fluidsimulation, just some cylinders, spacewarps, particles, noises.
Thanks to finalRENDER from Cebas, we could render all without getting in time trouble.

Modelling, Texturing, Rendering and additional Animation was done here, at GROUND STUDIOS.
Animation and Compositing was done by David Baker / Animation Design.

The filling looks a little better than the boiling, imo. Did you forget to deinterlace the shots you posted or is that intentional?

Und der Sprecher in dem Spot macht mich fertig!

true, the clips are not deinterlaced (sorry, was to lazy to do that)

could you please share the secret of the little haze-water-drops sliding down inside the machine that are collecting other drops and thus they grow bigger ?

what is the technique behind this ?

The water drops on the inside of the kettle were filmed and applied in post.

the growing bubbles under the waterline are simple pflow events.
the feature of fR that refractive objects with IOR of 1.0 can have an alphachannel was a huge benifit. So we created the little bubbles inside the waterobject (Refraction IOR of 1.0, but with a strong blurry value) as a single pass and could simply combine it in post via alpha.

to proof that all is geometry, here is a screenshot:

The water itself is just a cylinder with a displacement on the top polys. To be able to simply animate the height, we created the coned shape of the water "on top" of the animation, with a spacewarp. The watercolumn is a cylinder too, with a noise that is sticked to the surface plus a Noise spacewarp where the column "dives" through.

i love this! it just proves that you can achieve great results with a bit of thought and skill. a simple solution, brilliantly executed to a complex animation problem. congratulations :thumbsup:

Oveall if u look the feel is good,
But u have little more work on water n lightning.
