Yes netleader, so do I.

But please let us not turn this great thread into a Wacom discussion, that would really be a shame and we have dozens of Wacom discussions allready. Just do a quick search on "Wacom" and you'll know what I mean ;)

10 October 2002, 06:47 PM
20 mins with ps7. My first serious attempt at computer art, done from memory of a scene i did countless pics of for my a levels 5 years ago. also the first time i've tried drawing anything with the cheap tablet i've got (went in to buy CDs, came out with a tablet, go figure)

10 October 2002, 08:11 PM

10 October 2002, 10:42 PM
Panzer_ I use a slightly modified captured bristle brush and the variable chalk in Painter.

10 October 2002, 10:57 PM
I can't believe how consistantly good Sleepless and jeroentje are at producing excellent art (to name just a couple - their names are on this page.. :) ). Your work is utterly amazing, and its made me start practising my butt off to get somewhere as good.

And as for Sleepless' signature - "My very small CG art portfolio" - just include the number of works done by you on this thread and it'll be bloody huge! :)

10 October 2002, 11:11 AM
SLEEPLESS- ooohh .. thanks...and whada you mean by slightly modified captured bristle?:hmm:

10 October 2002, 02:16 PM

10 October 2002, 04:17 PM
Panzer- I think that the only big change is the grain is adjusted so it will show more texture. The "Variable chalk" is the best tool IMO for adjusting to show more texture. I constantly play with it's parameters and paper to get what I want (i don't reallly know what all the controls do) then I save it for later use. "Capture paper" is a great way to get textures.... Same goes for photoshop7, the above bots are done in that prog (I still am more comfy with PShop) Also if you paint the darks thin and transparent then use a more opaque setting for the lights it will make the opaques appear thicker...Just like oils. don't know what else to say except experiment.:)

10 October 2002, 09:34 PM
:surprised Firsrt time with painter.... 45 mins...

10 October 2002, 05:51 AM
thanx sleepless... i really need to learn from you.

10 October 2002, 01:00 AM
I got a graphire2 delivered this morning, but haven't had a chance to use it all day until now (2am).

This is my first try with a tablet and found it slightly trickier to use than I thought it would be (I kept looking at my hand for starters...).

It was meant to be some chaos beastie, but then started looking a bit like a gremlin, before finally ending up like a cross between a really bad yoda and one of those small dogs. Not very good then. Hey, it can only get better, right? It took about 30 mins I guess.

10 October 2002, 01:14 AM
Hey Jeroentje, deze vind ik echt geweldig!
Zou het mogelijk zijn deze op 1024x768 te sturen? (voor mijn achtergrond)?

Hey, Jeroentje, I really like this one!
Could it be possible to send me it in 1024x768 resolution? (wallpaper)

10 October 2002, 01:30 AM
Don't know if it's allowed by u guys, seems everybody is posting painter and photoshop stuff. But here a few old quickies I did back at school when I was bored...

Nice illustrator work btw, allthough they look like a bit more than just speedpaintings ;)

I feel pretty brave, daring to post that here. pfff, what the heck!

Jeroentje: Yeah, those aren't paintings, but they where made speedy ! (time variates per picture, but the max is about 1hr)

If u like it, u should consider going to a shrink

U know, in my early CG-days, I used CorelDRAW! 3. Man, what was I thinking! But then, I was about 13 yrs old and knew nothing about computer. I had never heard of illustrator. Until we learned it at school. U won't believe, but I even was "protesting" (don't know this is good engl.) against the use of Illustrator! Can u imagine?! Until I got more familiar with it, can't live without it anymore...

wel enough boring blablabla, I can't imagine enobody intrested in this :scream:

10 October 2002, 03:58 PM
I started doing vector work 11 years ago, in CorelDraw (2.0 I believe)......

10 mins, theme speed paints.

10 October 2002, 10:48 PM
It's a lightning experiment, it took less than half a hour.

10 October 2002, 11:44 PM
hey guyz here's 1 more of my work if u wanna see more:

10 October 2002, 12:13 AM
Wow, I havent colored anything for quite awhile. Boy am I rusty! Anyway here's my attempt at rendering out my Buck Rogers Type Space Girl. Not done quite as spedaly as desired (at least 2 and a half hours) but at least I tried right? But I figure that because there are two of them, thats about an hour and fifteen minutes per one, which means I'm.. er... still over the limit for speed painting.:surprised

All else aside, I am quite impressed with the caliber of work presented, kudos to all.:airguitar

10 October 2002, 02:13 AM

10 October 2002, 04:26 AM
visualboos timer? is it a handy tool for timing speed paints? please don't make me look through 22 pages for it. I've been away for a while, and I have to say I love what this thread has become! I've just browsed the latest pages.

Sleepless, I love the gourd. Your style is awesome, and i tried to duplicate your gritty brush in this painting:

10 October 2002, 02:02 AM
I just want to say thanks to Visual Boo. I've been meaning to get off my bum and try and find something like that for awhile now. (Visual Boo's Timer)

Anyway, I suck at speed stuff, but since I'm posting, here's 10 min of Illustrator, and another 10 in photoshop doing fast color touchups and prep for save as .jpg.

11 November 2002, 09:33 AM

Henrik, that is one great looking piece...
But why on earth are you posting it in the speedpaint thread?

11 November 2002, 06:15 PM
Well it's sort of sketchy and it took me very short time. I've not been doing any drawing lately, so this was a nice change for once in a while.

11 November 2002, 08:10 PM
Great job everyone.
This is from a self portrait thread from somewhere else.
But it is speedy. I was in an orange mood.

11 November 2002, 04:53 AM
I think about 45 minutes, no reference, photoshop. It's boring black and white, but I am still trying to get used to the Wacom, so I didn't want to deal with color. I was hoping you guys could share some wacom tips, I still haven't established a workflow yet. For this, mainly, I had stylus set to opacity, and I kept bouncing back and forth between black and white with the paintbrush.

11 November 2002, 07:57 PM

11 November 2002, 12:56 AM
Blue Potatos, Ha!

To tell the truth I have no idea what they are, I was bored one day at school, and found myself in front of photoshop. So naturaly I decided to render a sphere like all good students do when bored, and that developed into a robot idea, whiched developed into a, well, a "potato."

Im interesed in what everyone thinks of them.

11 November 2002, 03:34 AM

staglider2 - these are the speedy stuff I like
(why staglider2 and not staglider)

11 November 2002, 12:39 AM
thx carlocki ;-)

staglider2 instead of staglider ? Well...i mistyped when i signed in this cgtalk forum and only noticed later....but was too lazy to change it. But actually it should have been "Starglider2", wich is the title of an Atari ST homecomputer game during the early nineties (1991 - 1992) and wich also got me hooked up for days and nights.

lol. where are the days....

11 November 2002, 01:55 AM
My first with painter, too much time wasted finding the right buttons. I post it here anyway because you guys inspire me.

11 November 2002, 07:14 AM

photoshop7, about an hour, much time spent over working. Can't seem to go any faster, maybe being more decisive would help?

first to post holiday art....They have lights up downtown already so I'm jumpin in early too. Besides it's pretty much the opposite subject matter of my last post.

I did this coupla weeks ago for kicks. It's 2 hrs in Painter so it's not quite a speed paint but not a labor of love either. mostly captured bristle brush over watercolor brush.

11 November 2002, 03:11 AM
20 min.

11 November 2002, 07:16 AM
I got to get this outa my system. Photoshop

Goodbye photoshop :wavey:

11 November 2002, 05:21 PM
great Pancreas i like it
I have to admit i can see an improvement with painter

the drawing before this one is it Jeremy Irons?

11 November 2002, 08:44 PM
that's a wonderful looking doggie you have there pancreas :)

11 November 2002, 06:13 AM
lol pancreas. great work.

11 November 2002, 12:42 PM
Another one, 1 hour for this.

Kamui, Slacker, thanks a lot!
Carlocki, it not jeremy irons (when i looked at it i also think that), in fact is a model or anonimous person from a climalit windows ad.
You all must try painter, is absolute easy and intuitive, and it has tons of different brushes! (i have to get painter 7 with layers)

11 November 2002, 12:47 PM
Wow Pancreas, this is looking very good :)
Don't you just love the natural feeling of the Painter brushes?
To be honest, I have Classic and 7 aswell.... I prefer the brushes in Classic and hardly ever use 7. You don't have layers in traditional media either, so who cares....

11 November 2002, 02:34 PM
Pancreas You ROX!

AAaaaaaaaaRRG... about 25 min. with a shitty mouse!!

11 November 2002, 02:52 PM

12 December 2002, 01:21 AM
Sorry for doubleposting. Just trying to attach the image itself instead of a link to it. Testing....

(Edit). It works. A pitty that the image is not much of an art piece.

12 December 2002, 03:27 AM
mdme_sadie --> 7 minutes? oooo.... I like it! her hair especially!

TNTJack --> hahaha.... cute monsters... do more! :D

12 December 2002, 03:58 AM

no not 7 mins! 20 mins using Painter V7! (i'm still finding my feet again after having not been drawing for three years and all the practice i can get is good, so this is a great challenege for me :) there's some insane talent on this board though!

12 December 2002, 07:43 AM

About an hour maybe less in painter.

12 December 2002, 03:57 AM
Wow, you all guys are just awesome, here's the first speed paint I post. 15-20 minutes on painter/photohop
the fact is that I never do portraits, so that was just a try... have to work on these :)

12 December 2002, 09:25 AM
Najd, very nice :)

~45 minutes, PS7.

Mostly an exercise of using less bright and cartoony colours, rather than producing an anatomically perfect apple . I've been studying a lot of Caravaggio's paintings lately. I think this painting would make him turn in his grave though :scream:

12 December 2002, 05:50 AM
i love speed paint.
this one was done in 30mins :) :)

12 December 2002, 11:48 AM
