Name: Niels Sinke
Country: Netherlands
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay

Hi everybody,

This is my newest work wich i worked on for about one month on and off. I started this piece even before my other work "Spiritual Ambiance" and has somewhat the same theme. It was purely for fun.

I was inspired by the game "Beyond good & evil" wich had some sort of chinese shop. I wanted to create an fairly modern kitchen and ended up making a kinda old building around it. I liked the mixture of the old style and the almost sci-fi look.

The image was made with 3dmax and vray and did some extensive post-production in photoshop.

I would like crits about, well whatever you can think off so i can improve things on my next projects.

Your welcome to look at the high res image also.

greets Niels

Looks amazing!!! Very good work. Dont like the volume light though. The textures look a little streched here and there but overall they look great. Smoke coming from the food looks fantastic, very real. The stuff in the kitchen looks convinsing.

Very well done, thumbs up.

Beautiful scene. Love cooking myself a lot actually;)

I like the splashed dirt texture above the stoves at the kitchen part. Walls and wood look nice, but your aluminium plains at the kitchen are to shiny and clean (maybe someone just polished the kitchen;p). Add a few scratches, it should look good. Oh yeah, and the rice paper at the back where the light comes from, it would look nicer perhaps if you added some scattered fibers, like the real rice paper stuff, you know.

Really nice render anyways

As I told you: PERFECT scene! I really like all your environment scenes because of the lighting and realistic materials :).The hight-res render shows how detailed the scene really is.
Keep it up!

I really love this scene, the whole atmosphere is right. The attention to detail is amazing, from the food spatters to the reflection, I'd love to see an even higher res version.

All I miss is Jade =]

Erg mooi!

This colouring and lighting is perfect. This scene has great personality and style.

Only thing caught my eye would be that the texture on that wall looks like low res. where the wall comes closer.

Excellent, mind blowing quality: awesome lighting + splendid texturing = superb realism :buttrock: . I love the colors here.

Whoa this is awesome, but with all this positive feedback a little picking, what keeps the knives on the wall?!

11-23-2004, 08:45 AM
thnx guys,

You gave some good comments or crits about several try it out how it looks.

EricPoehlsen: the knives are hanging on a magnetic strip. It is quite common in kitchens to have such an design so you can reach for the knives easily or throw them on it again.

thnx all...........

Mhh never have seen these strips before used in a kitchen, the thought came up, but well I have never heard about it until now

Very nice as usual. It really looks like a pleasent place to eat! Very warm and welcome!
My only crit would be (only came up in the highrez version) that the texture on the concrete stairs is a bit stretched! But that's just a minor thing. Great still. Two thumbs up!
