Hi everyone,

I'm a bit of a lurker on this forum. Hence the lck of posts. However, that doesn't mean I don't know my stuff though. I'm a product designer by trade and use 3D visiualisation everyday. This however will be my first personal artistic venture. Hopefully I can give you all a run for your money ;)

I'll be submitting my concept scetch just as soon as i've put some colour to it. :D

See you around.

Excuse the rather garish colouring but the pink glow is taken from my vision that the alien invaders are illuminescent, rather like the various sea creatures we have.

It's fairly obvious what's going on here, and although the idea may seem a little unoriginal it doesn't get much more epic. The main focus of the piece will be the mother ship and it's devestating attck on the planet below.

Nice start Crin! May I suggest you angle the camera just slightly higher so that the spread of the attack fleet really sends the message. The presence of the satellite suggests that people watching TV are about to take a long break. :O Is the round element near the top of frame the mothership? I notice that it is spewing lums.

I was thinking either a mothership type affair or a stargate/wormhole typr thing. Not sure. The satellite was really just to show the level of civilisation, i was thinking about putting in a few and trying to show something along the lines of the "cascade affect".

Thanks for your input.

Here's a profile of an early model attempt for the Earth Defender Ships

Another view on the Earth Defender Ship

I'm not sure why i've said Earth here because it wasn't my intention for the planet to actually be Earth, in fact I don't want it to be Earth... meh!

Ok, so i'm spending time on this when i find a chance, here's a bit of modeling work for the side guns of the earth ship.

Thanks man, I'm doing my best to get this modeling done but I'm finding it hard to make time for it this week.

All and any suggestions/critique would be welcomed from such a talented community.

Nice subtle curves on that ship - but let's see more! Interested in seeing what you're going to do with the "luminous sea creature" bit.

And yeah - it surely is hard to find the time. I'm wishing I was single and childless again - but only for the next two months!

Looks good, nice designs for the spaceships, but I agree with the idea of changing the angle...its quite classic. Maybe with the 3D composition will look better...

PS: I also invite you to check my work (need critique aswell!!!)

Hey. I've always loved the organic ship concept and it looks like you have a great start. Interesting concept on the "Earth" fighters too. I can't see a whole lot to criticize so I won't. :) I'm looking forward to seeing how everything turns out.

Hi Michael. I like your concept idea and maybe your suggestion of the stargate/wormhole might make the composition more interesting. Good start on the modeling. I'll keep watching and good luck! Claireabella

Beautiful shapes on those ships - your design skills really show!
As for the image idea - I think if you make a really strong contrast between the pink selfilluminated alienships (can't wait to see those) and the satelite and earth being very realistic and "present" in time, it could make a very strong visual. Good luck!

Thanks for all your comments, hopefully tomorrow i will have an update on the "earth" ship and maybe some background story to go with the scene. :)

Ok, here's an update on the ship modelling, I know it's not alot but i'm really pushed for time this month, hopefully i'll get some more free time this next few weeks.

Your "earth" ship design is quite original, like the clean model unlike mine. However youd better hurry up, time is running out for all of us in this challenge! Goodluck!
