hey there, justy =thought i'd try and join in on this challenge.... originally wanted to do just a landscape, but then i got all hyped up and jittery about the quality and coolness of the concepts and now i want to try my hand at some character modelling.....
I spent a little bit of time messing with max last night to get back into the character side of things, i was never much good at it and haven't tried in a long time..... but i came up with this
but was then informed that it wasn't original enough, so i am going to go back to the drawing board and sketch out some concepts... probably should have done that in the first place....
anyway, after i showed that to some people i went back to max and modelled this:
i want to add some leather head gear, with hard-plastic or glass goggles and mouth piece..... but i want to try and keep it chartoony......
anyway, i am going to setch some stuff now, and hopefully will have something a bit original and cool to show tomorrow or tonight.....
looking forward to this, maybe i can get some good crits when i get more into it so i can improve myself......

well here is a little update on the head gear....
i also started sketching some ideas today, so everything i do for the next couple of days might be just testing... dunno yet, have to see if i can come up with a really cool design.......
but while i sketch ideas..... i am working on this guy.......
goggles were hard.... i suck at this kind of work........ but HAHA, i shall improve myself........

well, i think you must work harder in the mesh and let the texture be the last thing u do, a great texture in a medium mesh can do a great model but a great texture in a great mesh can do a GREAT model :) (in my opinion, of course)

yeah, you are right of course... more work definately needed, i think i am getting somewhere with this model... i dumped that head and started on a body, gonna work on the body, then the head.... i am looking for cartooney, starved proportions.....
big head, big hands and big boots, on an undersized body, hope it works out the way i want it to..
anyway, here are some progress pics of this model
so, any tips from the pros??? come on, i know you have lots of tips for me... i need to improve my skills, or the lack of them!!! haha..........

mmm,... I think is a little exagerated the chest. I like much more the first picture,... without the exagerated ribs.
but I'm happy he will be cartoon! :)

yeah, your right, the chest is a bit much, but i have taken it in a bit..... and done a little bit of the abdomen....
